Exactly. Trump and the families were complicit in disregarding the rules so there needs to be consequences for the violation itself. My heart goes out to the brave employee for attempting to do her job but was battered by his campaign thugs. Also, the families invited Trump who was instrumental in the deaths of their relatives, not President Biden who is incorrectly blamed for Trump’s callous decision. I’ve been too, and they’re quite clear about the rules before you visit, and when you arrive. It’s practically inconceivable that anyone thought this was a good idea. And of course he breaks another federal law. Just can’t help himself. But of course who expects Trump to follow rules or show respect to the military? To him, it’s just a prop, like a Bible. Something he has no intention of sacrificing for, simply to borrow glory and honor.

I’m Canadian, and had the opportunity to visit Arlington National Cemetery when I was a teenager. I cried and cried that day over 45 years ago. It is a sacred place, and deserves nothing but our utmost respect and protection. To use it for a campaign photo op is beyond disgraceful.

@@rf159a I saw a report on one of the big US news networks some 30 years ago about a memorial in Arlington honouring female war personnel. Turns out it was the Vietnam Women's Memorial. I remember that all these years later and that its unveiling made me a bit misty eyed...so much so that I vowed if I ever make to DC I will go to that memorial and place flowers there.
I found the name of my Dad's best friend on the great wall at the Australian War Memorial. He was 24 years old and here was me at 70 sobbing like a baby at this confirmation of my Dad's story. I'm sobbing still...weird things humans.

It is good that they made it public, but not good that there seems to be no consequences for the rules that were broken. The army considering the entire matter to be closed because a sole woman doesn't want to press charges is disrespectful to a lot of people.

I was there several years ago with my daughter on a class trip. My daughter was selected to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier. If you go there you will feel what a solemn place this really is. There is also the 'eternal flame' which marks the grave of JFK. I wanted to take a picture of my daughter laying the wreath and asked the guards about it. They were very professional and guided me into a press area so that I could get the best picture. For these guards it is an honor to serve at Arlington and they take their responsibilities very seriously. This is NO PLACE for any type of political event. This is the resting place of those that have given the ultimate sacrifice in defending our nation.
And yet a conman was allowed to defile this solemn and sacred place. Why?

I am proud to be an Army Brat. My father, Col. Tommy Baucum, served our country for over 30 years. I very rarely saw him with tears in his eyes, but that is what I witnessed when we visited Arlington National Cemetery, perhaps the most solemn place I have ever been. The cemetery is sacred ground for hundreds of thousands of American families, including mine.
Donald Trump has no right to use our most hallowed ground for his political aims. It was disgraceful, nauseating and repugnant. Someone who would do that should never be Commander in Chief.
Me too. I grew up in the Army. My dad was a Colonel. We visited a couple of times. We walked those rows all day long. Stood for the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. There are 400,000 Americans at rest at Arlington. It is a place you can never forget..........if you have a soul. My dad was the toughest guy on earth. Seriously. He fought in WW2 and Korea. I saw tears in his eyes at the Tomb of the Unknowns for the first time. Politics is insignificant compared to the reality of Arlington.

Not one person in America should be remotely surprised that this incident happened during Trump's visit to a veteran cementary. This man has absolutely no regard for military service, and certainly not those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. That video of his grave-side presence ended up in a campaign ad within 24 hours is evidence that not only was the recordng planned in advance, his invitation was accepted (if not also coerced) with the sole purpose of seizing the opportunity to personally benefit from it. Biden did a photo-op in Arlington cemetery (section 60) back during the withdraw from Afghanistan. (April 14, 2021) They used a commercial photographer.
Biden also personally authorized a drone strike against a man in Afghanistan without knowing whether he was a terrorist or not. The man he killed was an aid worker, and they also killed his children and his brother. None of these Leftists cares about that; most of them forgot about it right after it happened. My father is buried there and I took great offense to the spectacle of 45 and his enterage at this sacred place for a political photo op. I am a Veteran who happened to sign up for the US NAVY the day after the first gulf war started. Men who were in this MEPS station prior to this Gulf War and beyond could have died and been buried here. Service members who paved the road for our freedom in the ultimate sacrifice. If this S**t Show continues and he is back in office once again, god help us. I hate politics with a passion and if in the 7th grade government class I opened the book and turned the page to learn about this former president I probably would read he is the worst president to ever hold office. Yet the polls suggest that he's not losing many from his base and that Kamala's rise in the polls is due largely to new voters, most of whom are women and young people. Although I have serious doubts about polls in regard to the presidential race, I can't go strictly on gut feelings, instincts and hopes.
