    Nice little video. I actually got one of the field piece VP67 for about $100. I think they bought it and found the one cover was broke and did not use it so I took a chance and now running it right now for the very first time and seems good. Have a great day.

    The silver puncture under the cap can stay on line the hole up to your oil fill then push down the plastic will puncture the foil so you don't have to pour it in

    What do you do with the old oil?? Throw out the reservoir and purchase new or dump, clean and put new clean oil in it

    • @dfwhvac
      @dfwhvac  2 года назад +3

      If you wanted to , you could reuse the canister but I don’t , because to clean it would be difficult and you don’t want to have left over water mixing with new oil. It’s intended to dispose of the canister with the old oil and use a new one . They sell them in packs of 3 or 4 at most supply houses. Good question , thanks for watching

      You can also just buy a gal of vacuum pump oil and just use the plastic containers for dumping waste oil when pulling a vac. You could be doing 2-3 oil changes on a large chiller so buying the three pack never served me any good.

      @@leolyons4158 yes great comment , I always keep an extra gallon of vac pump oil from United Refrigeration just for these instances . I have done what you said many times. You are correct some larger heavily contaminated systems may require all day and overnight vacuums with multiple oil changes

    Thanks for the video, how often should someone change the oil of the pump?

    • @tomniielander944
      @tomniielander944 9 месяцев назад +1

      Most pump's recommend after every use, which I assume would be every couple of days worth of use. A used oil would not allow the pump to pull-down vacuum to full spec. So a pump that can do 25 microns, would top out at 100 or 200 microns with used oil. So you can close off all the vacuum ports, and just have a gauge attached, and see if you can get the spec to check oil condition. Basically the oil is hydroscopic, and absorbs moisture and other stuff that degrades it's performance.
      Also this Fieldpiece pump has two reservoirs, and allows an oil change without breaking vacuum.

    Where can I buy that kind of hose of yours? what is the brand of your hose? the Blue one:) thanks

    • @dfwhvac
      @dfwhvac  2 года назад

      Hi, thanks for watching. The blue hose is the TruBlue hose from Accutools. They have various different kits and you can purchase online from TruTechTools. I have the starter kit , it comes with one hose , carrying case, core removal tool, and multiple fittings from 1/4” to 1/2” for various vacuum setups . It has been a great hose and I’ve had it for a couple years with no problems or leaks .

    Why do I have to change the oil while is running? Or how do I know that I have to change it?

    • @dfwhvac
      @dfwhvac  Год назад

      You don’t necessarily have to do it while running , but you can if you need to . On very long vacuums or on systems that are highly contaminated , it may require an oil change during the vacuum process as they oil could become overly dirty or contaminated which will drastically slow down on your vacuum speed

    Can i use a fieldpiece 10cfm vacuum for residential?

    • @dfwhvac
      @dfwhvac  Год назад

      Absolutely . It’s probably a bit overkill considering most residential applications will be a max tonnage of 5 ton per system , but it will work. I’d use a 3/8” diameter hose for residential instead of a 1/2” hose. There is some debate that pulling a deep vacuum overly fast has the potential to freeze moisture in the lines instead of removing it, although I’ve never personally encountered that. If you already own the 10 cfm , then don’t worry about it. If you’re looking to go out and buy a Fieldpiece vacuum pump strictly for residential , I’d honestly stick with the 8 cfm.

    • @dfwhvac
      @dfwhvac  Год назад

      Rule of thumb is a vacuum pump can pull down 1 Ton per cfm. So even a 5 cfm pump can pull down a 20-25 ton circuit with the proper vacuum set up. Using this info you can probably see why a 10 cfm might be a bit overkill for most residential applications.

    Has anyone run into an issue where this pump constantly pops a GFCI outlet? Mine keeps tripping as soon as I power it on.

    • @dfwhvac
      @dfwhvac  Год назад

      I’ve never seen that on my machine , but it sounds like there might be a short with the wiring. You can try taking it apart and checking where the cord goes through the machine , or simply contact Fieldpiece via their website with your serial number and see if they can help. They have great customer support.

    Where’s the micron gauge ?

    • @dfwhvac
      @dfwhvac  Год назад

      There is no built in micron gauge on the vacuum pump .
      The micron gauge is attached to a 6” ball valve hose on a separate service valve further down the system as far away as possible from the actual pump for a truer micron reading
