omg Lone Fox just shared that mirror in his antiquing video! I love the dark wood that it probably was originally, but the red would totally sell.. great find!!

Gen Z will love the orangey wood as they love the 70s. Having been young in the 70s, I'm not going back. Red could work for the mirror, I had a bright red one in the 70s.

  • @krisphilwade1

Definitely keep the mirror the color it is. For one reason, it would be a bear to refinish (all those curves!) and secondly, I think the red it is, would be a great pop of red for any room. Thanks so much for these instructive videos - I have learned so much!

No one was excited about 80's mauve.... that died quickly.
Wallpaper is back in. And skirting might trickle in as half length skirting as a scalloped edge. It might be prints, or matelassé. There is mixing of french linen yet, natural colors that go with those warm woods if people are staying neutral with large seating pieces.
I still see warm metals not fading quite that fast because people didn't go deep into changing the stainless cabinet hardware, but might do it now in response to the grey wood going away. I see mid-century hardware on dressers, stereo cabinets, inlaid brass tubes becoming very popular.
Chrome might get some love but won't be full on just yet.
Cosy is definitely in, but controlled cosy.
Large focal art pieces are back to grab accent colors from, especially if there is no 'hero' fabric to grab the accent colors from.

I can't wait until the postmodern trend is over because I have loved it for decades and am not into it just because it's trendy. Hopefully I can start selling my chrome lamps and furniture that I've been into for 20 years for now. Videos like this give me a headache because I can't keep up with the trends, so don't even try.

My home was built in 1926, with the original woodwork and floors. Bought it in 2000, and ignored every style trend that mentioned changing it. Dad always said, never paint good wood. Paint was for soft pine and crap laminates.
Super happy I stood my ground. Trends around wood and paint come and go; my home has survived nearly 100 years of ignoring trends. I go trendy on accessories or smalls. My house was designed to be a wood focused bungalow & so it shall stay. Call it orange all you want! To each their own taste

I have a couple of birthing chairs I picked up a while ago and they sell here in the UK for a few hundred pounds. People can't get enough of them at the moment. Yours for $7 was an amazing find.
Also the red theory is going off here too. I picked up a small red lacquered victorian accent table as a shoot prop and it highlights things so well. Helps things pop!

I encourage you to use the term wabi sabi/ethnic instead of primitive, especially if you describe items that are tribal in origin
