@@joycerouget2379 I can see admiration for both things. I think in Queen Elizabeth's case, she vowed to fullfil her duty for the reset of her life, the very end. Like a marriage, her crown and service to it was a death do us part. She took it so seriously.
But passing it down when the time is right, is also fairer for those whom inherit it.

The Japanese emperors have barely made statements to the public. After the great earthquake of 2011, however, the emperor made a long statement to the people through television. I am sort of liberal, and I am not into the royal family, but I kind of cried for the first time after the desaster when I listened to him.
I am glad the emperor is independent from the government. Even if we had revolution, there would be one thing unchanged. It has been like that for over a thousand years. Japan has been kind of constitutional monarchy for over a thousand years, which you probably did not know.

@@phantomtq No, Meiji never intervent with the goverment duty, that is what the cabinet of that time like to claim "it was an order from Emperor" or "in the name of Emperor". Meiji was kind of mystery person and never leave the palace, infact no one know what kind of person he is. Only Hirohito take part in the goverment, but he largely ignore the detailed of his general's plan and don't know how devastated the war is, after US thrown so many bomb in many Japan's city including Tokyo and send nukes toward Hiroshima and Nagasaki, only after that Hirohito learn the true horror of war, infact last year they find the personal diary of Hirohito and in his lasr year the Japan Communist Party keep remind him the WW2 atrocities is his fault and that always haunted him, he keep asking the goverment whether he should make a public apologize but the Household Agency and goverment said it will anger the right wing.

As for this apology nonsense my great grandfather fought your finest warriors in combat and saw atrocity first hand, he never stopped hating you. This is an error we did unspeakable things to your people as well such is the way of war and ignorance. The sins of the Japanese people have been washed away by the mercy of God, the passage of time, and most importantly genuine contrition. When Hirohito addressed your people you hearkened unto his words and cast your weapons into Tokyo Bay to never do Evil again. The Japanese people have learned from their mistakes and will not tolerate the development of weapons of offense this speaks more powerfully than any words. I am sorry it was necessary to use weapons of mass death against your people but I do not regret it because if this had not happened we would not be operating on the basis of mutual respect that has made it possible for us to become as brothers. Congratulations on the Enthronement of Emperor Norihito long may he reign. Tennoheika bonzai! Warmest greetings from the United States. Please don't wreck your country in the same manner we have wrecked ours revere people like Otoya Yamaguichi who gave his very life to protect you from the Evil that plagues us. 令- the original character means “Bell, as in ringing a bell” n it is the bell used in battlefield to summon soldiers to get ready for battle. You can see the the top part looks like the shape of a bell, n inside is the hammer, the ringer. So the original n first meaning of 令 is “ order/summon that you must obey ( or if you don’t, execution for you). The other derivative meanings will be fate, natural order n naturally driven . Of the natural order, like beautiful( used by this commentator ) music would need to follow its natural order to be heard beautifully. I think in this context of this new Japanese Era naming, it is natural order as in in inevitable. I sincerely hope the Japanese people n the nation of Japan will recognize this Inevitability of Peace to the great region of East Asia.

There will be someone else be sitting on Japan's throne if there are no male heirs from the current royal family. The royal household will have to turn to the emperor's distant paternal male relatives such as distant cousins who would be ranked equivalent to a Duke. If anyone bothers to look at Japan's royal family tree, emperors in past ancient history had practiced polygamy ...... in other words there are distant royal male relatives who are qualified for the Japan's throne.

yes, that's why there was significant worry when it became apparent that after the current emperor Naruhito, former crown prince, his brother is the only one near enough to inherit the throne. Good thing that the emperor's brother had a son, he could continue the line, but its still a problem that there are only few remaining close relatives that are eligible for the throne, if in the worse case scenario, they would need to retrace the family tree and find eligible succesors.

Please do not mention Japanese Emperor with their true names, such as A...hito, N...hito. It is just like the notation of the God as YHWH, instead of Yahweh. These true names are used only after their Demise of the Crown. (from Japan).

@@randomweirdo4467 There is no "God" in Japan. There is only a "spirit" in every place. The Emperor is "the descendant of God" but not "God itself". That is the view of almost all Japanese "national bodies". It is the heart to pray, it is faith. It is not so-called "religion". Japan has a world different from Abraham's religious mental structure.
