    I've been using this recipe for almost 2 years and it's honestly the best thing ever. This has gone in my recipe book and is my absolute favourite.
    The one time I was especially grateful for this was when I could feel myself getting sick but still had some energy so I made this and put it on overnight. The next day I was so ill and didn't even have the energy to stand up for long BUT this was already made so I only had to worry about putting the slow cooker on "keep warm" and scooping it into a bowl for the day. Absolute life saver 🧡🧡

    I made this back in November and it was honestly amazing, rivaled my mum's beef stew. Left the slow cooker on warm and holy shit it was even better the next day and the meat was falling apart and practically melting into the stew 🧡 my boyfriend doesn't like stew that much but he's already asked for it again twice

      No problem! I always had trouble making beef stew in the crockpot that was thick. I would flour and brown the meat but it was not thick enough and I would do a slurry of corn starch but it was a ' odd thickness' I did not like. This one was nice and thick and I did not have to check on it and add starch to it later to try and thicken it up. The only thing I did not add was peas only cause we did not have them but I will add some next time.

    • @CoopCanCook
      @CoopCanCook  7 лет назад +3

      Cheap Cooking Channel making this thick and savory without a slurry was my goal! I don't care for peas, so I can do without those lol thanks again!

    • @lisatheboywonder6744
      @lisatheboywonder6744 7 лет назад +1

      I do not like peas in large amounts either I have to be in the mood for them but I do not like making a slurry cause that method is not always reliable and you have to hope you add the ' right' amount. But I made this twice and used this to make a pork stew I just subbed chicken stock and left out the worchestire and it was great! Thank you for sharing!

I simmered mine on stovetop instead of in the crockpot, and although I didn't really measure anything, I did add more veggies and some fresh rosemary that I had to use up. instead of adding a gravy packet to your additive try using a sieve on the liquids into and other bowl and after that using a 1 to 3 corn starch slurry on your leftover stock and making an almost demi gloss gravy from your remaining leftover juices

    Honestly, never made this as an actual Stew like this, before. So was a bit curious how the broth was seasoned.

    My recipe is almost identical to yours, and it always turns out fine. By way of variety, add some dried prunes, say 6 no. This adds a bit of sweetness. I love cooking with my slow cooker.

    I subscribed because of this. Will try this recipe while we still have a few cold days and before the summer comes. Shoot, I probably can eat this all year if I want😂😂.

    What size is the roast and how much of it did you actually use (less fat cut off). I am making this with stewing beef bc that is what has been in my freezer for 6 months. I used about 3 pounds bc thought most roasts average size is 3 pounds. So much meat! I followed recipe as listed in actual recipe link and slow cooker is almost full and I have a large 6 oz slow cooker. I had no tomato paste and I forgot to put the worcestershire on the meat so I added it in with the beef broth. Hope that doesn't make a difference (it might!). Under the weather today with a cold so hope for the best. Not sure how it will turn out. May need more liquid and then would need more flour I imagine...
