  • It's been a while since I finished this building but a few things prevented me from making this operations video. Anyway, here it is installed on the layout and fully functional. One hell of a scratchbuild and a very nice, unique and somewhat challenging addition to my layout. #operationssession #hoscale #train #railroad #scratch #weathering

    That open-sided building is inspired. I have not seen that before. The simple interior really works for me, you don't want many things in the way of the hand of God. Here's a thought. Electromagnet w on/off and some servos could PU a load and drop on cars. Final Grade: Excellent.

    • @mattw9667
      @mattw9667  3 месяца назад +1

      Morning Blaine. Thanks very much. Yes, I haven't seen many buildings like this either. We usually slice them and place against the backdrop or slice and continue the facia. I was inspired by the video I saw of this building in operation and thought it would be cool to place the interior view at eye level as though you were standing in the warehouse portion watching the train and truck action at the far end. The interior may look simple and clean but I'll tell you that this building is about 3x the work that our normal exterior-facing buildings are. Quite the challenge and lots of figuring to get it to come together. Thanks for watching

    matt... nice stuff !!!! first, i noticed you said the flashing cab lights were not prototypical... let me say this... they look great, especially when flashing on the back wall inside the facility !! also, prototypically speaking, a real crew would like to have them as more flash means a safer working environment in a building that could possibly have multiple employees walking around, especially with the loud noise a truly enclosed metal sided building like this would have during switching ops. being a retired industrial safety engineer for the federal government, there would probably be several other things that would be in place prior to the loads arrival, like open discussion w/ employees at the morning pre-job briefing about the loads arrival, facility owned "safety" blasts of a horn/alarm prior to engine entry into the facility, wall/ceiling flashing lights during entry, safety spotters at all entrances/exits that do not allow ANY worker into the facility other than the rr crew, and, regardless of employer ( facility or rr ) hard hat w/safety vests in all areas would be mandatory !! as well, after the a.m. daily pre-job briefing, all workers would be required to sign off on an iwp ( industrial work permit) denoting they understand the requirements of the days work and agree to abide by the rules denoted in that iwp !!! excellent work, matt, absolutely excellent !!

      Wow, awesome explanation of how its done. I did high voltage testing and maintenance in my summers while in university and remember those site briefings vividly - especially the seriousness of the voltage we were dealing with. WRT to this building, it is possible to include a red flashing light at either end when a train approaches. I may just do that. Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate your feedback. Cheers Dennis.
