Tbh limiting the usability of the front screen is actually kinda beneficial according to me, since people are all the time spending their times doing useless things on their phone getting distracted, by having a barrier like that is kinda beneficial for focusing on our works.
Same, but I struggled trying to use the small screen as a viewfinder, so I'll accept the larger screen as an improvement.
I agree. I have ADHD and my screen time has been cut in half due to me having the flip 4. The small screen let's me briefly check to see if something is important, if not... I don't open it.
while that is true, i wish i could use my own widgets that i use daily, like my calendar, shortcut for bus information and train information, my own weather app...
I agree, especially because the functionality of the cover screen should be different from the inner screen

The Flip 4 does allow accurate selfie framing on the Cover Screen by double tapping it when using the camera viewfinder on the Cover Screen. Yes, it's small, but it does show the full composition.

I can't wait until my Flip 5 arrives! The preorder trade-in deals are too insane to pass up. In terms of realistic changes, I really hope that next year samsung makes the Flip wider, minimizes the crease to the level that Oppo has (the crease doesn't bother me that much but I think having a shallower one causes less stress and better for longterm durability), and updates the hardware on the cameras
For me , having all the home automation apps on the flex screen is very nice, Im able to control temperature, lights, vacum robot etc fast and easy
After having mine for a week, I can say the design is pretty damned good. Only minor complaints are the hinge is pretty stiff, making it a little awkward to open…and since the phone is slippery the could lead to dropping it (like Tim almost did😂). Also, the full screen looks weird if you’re wearing polarized sun glasses. Might be a property of the folding screen.
Other than that, all other nitpicks are software based and very fixable with updates. I suspect the outer screen will become a huge focus for developers in the coming months. All I know is in its present form I’m getting through 80% of my day without having to open the phone.

It would be helpful if labels are added for the phones when you're holding two. I wasn't often sure which one was which or which one you were talking about.
I upgraded flip 4 to the flip 5. I could say I love the front screen, and have been using it sometimes to reply messages. I fully agree the battery is way better compared to flip 4, plus the weight is lighter. It's a plus plus bonus upgrade

Cant wait for my Flip 5 to come in. Traded in my S8+ and this is only gonna cost me $5 more a month. A steall IMO, esspecially since my phone is 6 years old.
Tim, could you please clarify one thing? Are you saying that when you set Gboard as the default keyboard for the big screen when you close it and bring up the samsung keyboard on the outside it will default back to the samsung keyboard on the big screen when you open it up again?
No, he's just saying you can only customize the interior keyboard. The outer will always be Samsung.
I play youtube on the outer screen when its a podcast or something and I just wanna listen.
You can do that on a candy bar phone, or at least I can on YT Premium.

TELL your viewers about Spigens Screen protector for the Cover Screen- If you break that you are forced to use the inside- and that defeats the purpose of buying a Flip in the first place
This will be my first flip phone, my last phone is fold 3 and I know I gonna love Flip 5. When I do get it, I need to get good bulky case that can protect it from drop and also screen protector for front screen

Is it just my ph but it gets very warm just in my purse or while charging, even using samsung cables/block.
Also when you watch RUclips videos you can apply a mouse keyboard. Kinda like the white pointy mose that you use on your laptop or computer.

I'm trying to find out how to Close an App on the Flex Screen ? I have to open the phone to close apps defeating the purpose of the Flex Screen.
It wouldn't surprise me if you can't yet, and that's why it's a "Labs" feature.
Possibly a stupid question but can you use material you on Samsung phones? I have a pixel 7 pro but interested in getting this flip but would miss material you if I did.
Yes you can. Though I never use it because I usually use a theme from the Galaxy store lol

i hope samsung updates the software! a few qol items like what you mentioned, the option to continue running on opened app going from opened to closed! since its already available one way, i dont think it will be too difficult to allow it? i also quite like the informative cover screen, but it was iffy not being able to interact with the "buttons", especially since stuff like the calendar and weather is also just one swipe away!
Fyi, Still live Flip 5 versus Razr Ultra folding test on Utube. Razr failed at 126,000 folds & Samsung still going after over 200,000 folds including 30 minutes of folding submerged in water. Go Samsung....
Bought the flip 5 after 10 plua years with apple, this is a fantastic phone nice in the hand easy to carry around, front screen is amazing, battery can get better when using full screen and the crease sometimes is anoying bit you get used to it pretty fast, cameras are ok, selfies are awesome
I really enjoy using DEX so unfortunately I'll be passing on the Flip series until it is.
the flips are pretty gimicky anyways, only the fold series makes sense to me

@@AlumarsX more like same phone size as every other flagship except you can make it "half size" by making is 2x thicker. its a gimmick because you dont get any extra screen real estate like the fold and you have to flip it open to get a normal size phone screen.
@@menace2society00 Yeah, and therefore it fits in more pockets without falling. I'm tired of struggling to hold a phone in my shorts pocket when running or even getting in/out of my car. I tried the iphone mini and the small screen sucked

Honestly was going to get the flip but the battery worries me and I'm the type of person to drop their phones so much the fold was good option but it's too expensive and bulky so 23 ultra is good for me
I drop my phone a lot more often when I use a bigger phone like an Ultra 😂. I think it has to do with the fact that it's heavier and bigger - thus easier to bump into other things/slip outside of pockets. S23U is definitely a better phone than z flips in most ways, but I'm very excited to switch back to a Flip because it's much easier to handle and also more stylish & unique :)

I've had my Flip 4 (and s23 ultra for my other line) for just about 4 months. I'm typing this on the Flip 4 right now. I guess I'm unusual in a few things that do NOT bother me about the 4.
1. The crease? From a tactile standpoint, there's something appealing for me about running my thumb across the crease. I have zero issues with the crease. I also instinctively adjust my viewing angle if I'm seeing the crease while watching something. I, often confuse which phone I'm using.
2. The gap: I have a few nice covers for it, and I've never wanted for less gap. It's a non-thing for me.
3. Battery - Never had an issue. Tops off so fast that I've never run out.
4. Its light weight and slightly smaller dimensions (unfolded) make me tend to grab it off the table more than my Ultra. If I know I need more battery and will be taking important pictures, I'll grab my Ultra.
Oh, and my Flip 5 will arrive in two days. The trade-in was too good to resist.

I like the tactility of the crease too. Also never had battery issues because I have the cpu limited to 70% power since I only use my phone for phone, messaging, and browser. The flip 4 battery lasts longer than my s10e so I'm happy. Which color did you get? I got the Mint, it's sooooooo pretty 😍

@@o_o8203 you know, I'm colorblind and I'm not exactly sure, but I think it's green or graphite. It's glossy and looks really nice, but I've now got a brown leather cover with stitching (about the 5th one I've tried) that I'm really happy with.
I was concerned about crease but after getting my flip5 I can say that crease is virtually invisible, especially while watching any content.
However, I wish it had a better battery time and a telephoto lens.

Noticed the same thing regarding the hinge being "looser" than the flip 4.
Did you know that when your swiping to the right to see different applications like the weather, timmer, clock, calendar, you can use both your thumb and finger to zoom out or pinch out, however you call it. To see all the applications. When you do that you will see all the applications in a visible folder around the applications. Also to when you do that, if you have the timmer working, it will still run in the background, when you zoom out or pinch out, to see all your applications. Meaning that when you touch something and zoom out, you will see what you touched like if it was to set a timmer. You will see it still running in the background. I hope that makes sense. An I hope you understood what I meant by my explanation.

The appeal of a flip phone to me is being able to shut it. Now the screen is always accesible.
I have the Flip 4. I will wait a few more gens before getting an upgrade. The outside screen size doesnt matter. Plus, with the 5, good luck finding a case!

I found a Flip 5 case that does not exist for the Flip 4: a plain clear case _with TPU border_ and non-magnetic hinge protection (and I bought 2 for my new flip lol). All the plain clear cases for the Flip 4 are hard plastic and it makes me so nervous.

Does the small screen heat up when you use the phone for an amount of time? I have the Z Flip 3 and it heats up easily.

For the the cover screen, you can pinch the screen to see all the widgets!
There's physics reasons why the crease will essentially always be measurable. Can't compress a lensing material and still have light pass through it in directly away from the surface at all points, because where do some of those points have to go if the surface is folded? Can't occupy the same space as each other. If there's a material that can be stretched and return to it's exact state, then when it folds they could make it stretch a little as well to have enough room. So wake me when stretchy glass

its a preference thing. I have both and have no doubt Samsung is a bigger and better phone company than Motorola. I just love the look of the Razr even been cheaper as you state. I love than you can close the Phone and continue on the outer screen and vice versa. I like its bigger and has a better refresh rate. I really think you can't compare motorola's front screen to samsung's. Motorola cluld have the approach of creating another way into your phone but in a smaller body like on a z fold outer screen but smasung may be like "hey, we want to help you use your phone less but still want you to be able to check out vital notifications." And that's something that people want
If this had a zoom camera, I'd strongly consider upgrading from my S22. It's actually cheaper than the S23 with my trade-in.

Flip 5 or fold 5?
That's pretty much up to your personal needs. Besides the obvious difference of dimensions, the Fold has a worse selfie camera but adds a zoom camera on the rear.
Are not worry about durability issues or issues with screen protector 🧐 ?
If i buy a phone more 1000€, it should last 4 years at least.
Most people upgrade their flip every year. When you can upgrade for $100 it's a no brainier. I never have to worry about longevity, and I get the latest and greatest every year
Expect the screen protector to break before year 2 ends. The display should last three years if you open/close 200X a day.
