Nobody can mess with House's head as good as Wilson. Cuddy thinks she can but he always expects it from her. Wilson is far too nice and pleasant so even House usually doesn't see it coming, but every now and then he overplays his hand.
Wilson was the unacknowledged backbone of this show. House is obviously the star but Wilson's role was so complicated, especially since he is a perfect representation of an average, nice person. I always loved the fact that House was always trying to prove that no one is actually that nice. And the best part is, House is kind of right. People are usually only as nice as they think they need to be. No one feels the need to be nice to House and it creates some great moments

He was trying to use other doctors as a sounding board, which didn't work and he ended up showing up at Wilson's house uninvited for a "consult". Lol, the best part is that he's so good he screws with him by starting with the whole telling house the truth scheme knowing house will automatically assume he's lying then letting house fill in the rest of the game pieces and create the perfect framework of lies without even trying to hard to play house because the lack of trying and lack of excess excuses and try hard moves like wilson usually would do is exactly what lured house in to begin with
I always believed that Wilson was just as smart as House was. They were just completely different characters. House was a no lifer, obsessed with his work and puzzles, which made him an insanely good doctor. Wilson worked as a doctor, he was good at his job, but he also had a life, wives, girfriends. So if you compare them outside work, or when they pranked each other WIlson had outsmarted House many times...

What’s really nice when the two are talking in the café is that House immediately believed Wilson saying he slept with Cuddy. He has always trusted Wilson and deep down cared about his best friend.
Wish the show had continued like this instead of getting so overly dramatic the last few seasons. This was the perfect balance of humor, drama, and interesting.
Its a trap most shows fall into. Compensate lack of clever ideas with bombast and overblown drama. At least House got some good seasons out of it. Edelstein leaving the show was instrumental in its downfall and the worse and worse supporting cast did not help either. The asian woman simply could not act at all.
Yeah... and how would that look without becoming repetitive? I think they did a great job. They always have to ramp things up or else the series becomes stale.
@@Kaig3nesis i think he means it more in that the overarching story season to season became so center focused that we lost a great deal of effort and time usually devoted to side stories or the traditional story of the episode "the case" It needed too pick up on the whole interpersonal stories I will agree 100% with you there, but found their way of going about leads me to remember (and love) earlier seasons of house while I can literally reimagine all of season 7 and 8 in my head despite that I've watched seasons 1-4 almost 3 times more AND much more recently. House felt more fun when he had somthing to lose. Season 6/7 was just the depiction of what he ALREADY lost catching up to him.
House does crazy stuff and hurts people in his personal life and at the hospital, but in Cuddy having these types of opinions and being the Dean of Medicine at the hospital would hurt way more people
House tries to outmaneuver everyone and those who stand their ground lose to his games. Wilson feeds into House's ego by playing along; with no resistance; House doesn't have much to say; resulting in Wilson winning.
Wilson's best and funniest performance. Faked House out 3 times in a row. And then did it all over again. Probably what the actor's like in real life. House: Just plain bloody heroic

I truly believe that this is one of the nicer things that House was trying to do for Wilson. He was trying to get Wilson to go out of his comfort zone. Most family probably wouldn't even do that for you.
