Highlights from ESA basic astronaut training

- ESA's newly graduated astronauts reach the end of one year of rigorous basic astronaut training. Watch the key moments during the journey of Sophie Adenot, Rosemary Coogan, Pablo Álvarez Fernández, Raphaël Liégeois, Marco Sieber, and Australian Space Agency astronaut candidate Katherine Bennell-Pegg. Selected in November 2022, the group began their training in April 2023.
Basic astronaut training provides the candidates with an overall familiarisation and training in various areas, such as spacecraft systems, spacewalks, flight engineering, robotics and life support systems as well as survival and medical training. They received astronaut certification at ESA’s European Astronaut Centre on 22 April 2024.
Following certification, the new astronauts will move on to the next phases of pre-assignment and mission-specific training - paving the way for future missions to the International Space Station and beyond.

Hello ESA when i get older i want to study computer sience and work for you and become an astronaut do you have any tips that can help me
Hey, not an astronaut, but currently a last year Computer Science engineering student, and intern at ESA in Spain to help detect black holes with Gaia, feel free to ask any advice
@anicetn3326 was the study of computer science hard, and what was your experience while studying
@@aydin4531 it can be very hard, and it was for a bunch of people around me, but it doesn't have to be, and for me it wasn't. The secret really is, if you think you can enjoy it, and I did a lot, work on many side projects, many different sub-topics, and read a lot, often. I don't know how old you are, but I teach university stuff to 13 years old, so the sooner you start the better. It is all about pedagogy and how well formatted it is. With chatGPT, which I didn't have back in the days, you're even better. The general rule is that unless the project that you're doing has a significant visual part to it (such as video games) I'll recommend to stay away from video content as it has the lowest information/time ratio ever. The best is a good book or a good blog post sometimes. The practice, practice, practice. And keep a balanced life which makes you happy otherwise you'll depress or burn out, and believe me you don't want that.
