- Note: If I was to make a change here, I would prepare blindness/deafness at an earlier level to make use of the non-concentration option, especially paired with Hypnotic Pattern or Web. I would likely trade out Levitation earlier.
Welcome to my Transmuter build. This build I call "the pacifist" because this wizard doesn't do damage to enemies...at all. This is something I've been asked for years, can a Wizard be effective if they don't deal damage to the enemy? As you'll see with this build, very little needs to change to make this happen.

I really like your sub class layouts... it helped me go from "no idea" to give me many ideas.. thanks for taking the time to do them!
Love your series, thank you. You made me appreciate watery sphere - looking forward to our next campaign where we go beyond phb. I feel both my wizard and the familier are soft tarvets, so I personally use help less and my familiar sparingly. Enjoy the day!
I'd use Shapechanger in combat as a poor-man's Contingency Dimension Door. If you're low on hit points and trapped in melee, you can Polymorph into an owl, flying snake, or other critter with Flyby. Contingent DD is obviously much stronger once you have it.
According to Jeremy Crawford, you do need to prepare Polymorph to use Shapechanger
No kidding? In that case I would likely switch it out for something else around level 10 or 11.
Question about your personal experience: You recommend using the help action with this character a lot. Do you find wizards are usually safe within 5 feet of the enemy? Maybe I'm just a killer DM/ I play for a killer DM, but my experience has always been that wizards go down very fast once they're targeted. Is there some sort of strategy you employ for staying safe while helping?
I think he's using the steed to weave in and out of melee
Im currently playing a similar build. i dont avoid damage spells, but i onkly choose utility and control spells. My PC has fire bolt, and catapult for damage. However I usually just find a way to immobilize the enemy like web, Rimes Binding ice (even though it does some damage), sleep, ect... I am going for a roguish character but a wizard. He uses minor alchemy to break into places, and to sell "Silver" Art peices for top dollar.
I love halflings too. I just don't think this is the build for halfling. So many of your spells are DC dependent that I just can't see trading that 16 Int for a 16 Dex for this particular build. I really think something with a bonus to con and int is far better for this kind of build. A Gensai (Fire), Gnome (Rock), Hobgoblin, Half-Elf, or Human (Variant) seems much more in line for this particular DC-heavy build than the more attack-oriented ones.
Having halfling for one of the builds was admittedly a guilty pleasure.
now that i've seen most of the vids, the transmuter is probably the most boring one i've watched. it deviates from the god wizard build very little. It would've been nice if the transmuter influenced more the playstyle and spell selection like the enchanter, evoker and necromancer.
