  • This Masala Mushroom recipe is an easy, delicious Punjabi style one-pot mushroom curry made with white button mushrooms in a spiced onion-tomato gravy with minimal spices.
    Ingredients:
    Mushrooms 250-300 grams - large pieces
    1 Medium Onion - sliced
    1 Medium Tomato - sliced
    Cumin - 1 tsp
    Salt - 1/2 tsp
    Chili Powder - 1/2 tsp
    Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
    Olive Oil - 1-2 TbSp
    Method
    1) Heat a pan with some oil, add the onions and saute them
    2) Add the cumin seeds cook them lightly
    3) Add teh tomatoes and saute them until soft (may cover the pan for some time)
    4) Add salt, spice powders and cook till the tomatoes are soft and cooked well
    5) Add the mushroom pieces and mix well
    6) Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes
    Serve the mushroom masala hot on its own of with with roti or rice.
    Mushroom masala is an excellent side dish for chapathi. This curry also goes well with rice / biryani. Mushroom have the ability to absorb the flavor from the seasoning added to it. So this recipe makes the mushrooms so flavorful and irresistible. This mushroom gravy is spicy and tasty like restaurant style. The mushrooms remain soft and juicy after being cooked and have an interesting texture.
