  • The Col'n Carpenter show aired on Channel 10 in 1989/91. Col'n Carpenter began as a character on the hugely successful sketch comedy show, The Comedy Company. Kim Gingell, the man who created and performed the character, took the concept of a spin-off show to Network Ten. This is the first episode.

    I had most of these episodes from season one and all of season two on VHS but they've disappeared over the years. Thanks for this, brings back great memories. What a genius Kim Gyngell is!

    i was in the audience for the taping of that first episode, out at Nunawading... 22 years ago now. Wow it doesn't seem like that long ago.

    No problem. Thanks for posting these. I watched all of the first four episodes & really enjoyed them. The show still holds up very well.
    I would certainly buy a DVD box set to watch the rest of these.

    Stig, my husband Archie was mates with Paul Hogan when he was painting the Sydney Harbour Bridge. That was before I met him, but he used to talk fondly of the good times he had hanging out with you, Paul and Delvine.

    Thanks Stig!! I used to record the show every night after school when it was re-run. My sister and I have just about worn the tapes away over the years. Hadn't seen any of the "blue intro screen" episodes though!

    I really miss this kind of comedy via Australia....All the mid 80's greats Comedy Company, Fast Forward/Full Frontal and even Mother & Son as well?! What happened to Australia and it's once great comedy aspect, it's pretty obvious in what happened here and I don't even recognise my country anymore in 2020 or should I say the 21st century either...Hell I'd even take back "Smile You're On Candid Camera!!!" too!!! Very sad we're we've ended up in no less than 33 years plus....Ashamed.

    Imagine a movie with Kim Gyngell as Col'n , just going about town and his simple ways and accidentlly doing the right thing and not realizing it.. ...... it would be amazing just to bring the character back.

    Hi Stig. Your brother used to come & talk regularly at my school for something called Police Studies (if i'm not mistaken), around the time this show was on the air. Would have been 1990 & i was in grade 6 at the time. He was then 'Constable' Wemyss.

    @stigwemyss Col'n Carpenter box set - who would have thought! I'll be investing for sure. I remember "Dusty Daffodils" or something - Colin got a job on building site moving bricks from one end of a yard to the other, then he over did the Dencorub on his tired legs haha. And he wore shorts that episode = Michael said "I didn't think you even owned a pair of shorts", TELEVISION GOLD!

    Ah yes, well he's still in force and is an inspector now. I don't think he adresses grade six classes anymore but I'm sure he's pleased some one remembered. Thanks for the feedback Dave.

    Ha!Ha! This is a classic Aussie comedy show. I work with a guy just like Col'n. Mmuch better than the dry American stuff you get on TV.

      I'm probably not far off that. Maybe seen it about 20 times or more, from start to finish.
      I absolutely love Prisoner.
      I've been thinking about watching it all again from the beginning, while I'm stuck at home too.
      I've heard it's all on YT. So I might check it out on here for something different.

      @@ichad6950 yep all 692 episodes are on RUclips. I'm currently yet again on episode 41 when Mr Fletcher arrived. Amazing I can never get sick of watching this series, it's like a drug addiction for the eyes.

    Not as good as the Comedy Company, but better than watching Foxtels Noom, Finder and other ads a thousand fucken times a day. It’s a bit of harmless fun, not hilarious, but it’s good laugh
