    Regarding the problem with the handle image, you could create a separate face under the handle and slid the texture up to hide the handle image.

    If you are using Sketchup Pro -how do you modify the texture position?

    Great information as always guys. Also, I like the Dunder Mifflin t shirt but would like to see a Mouse Rat t shirt if possible.

    I would usually only use an image for flat elements. In this example the only image I would use would be the logo, if I could find it in a high resolution PNG with transparent background. Otherwise materials are better, but the included materials that Sketchup ships with are very low-res and do not look good when rendering. A good 4K concrete material can make a huge difference when rendering vs just using some grey color.

    Thank you. I always learn good stuff from these videos. Grouping vs. making components? I have always made components and up to this point do not use groups. But it looks like you use grouping. Am I missing something important by not doing that? Thanks.

      Components are really only good when there are multiples of the same thing like identical windows or doors. Takes up less memory and editing one will also change all others. Groups are best when an item is unique. There's only going to be one dishwasher in this case so it can be a group OR component but the identical doors or windows must be components.

    Hello Sorry for a non-video related question, but it's very important to my workflow. There was an option to hide a layer in Sketchup 19, and the layer's content was also hidden in the outliner. If you hide a tag in Sketchup 20 and 21, the content is still there, but only gray. That makes it very confusing for me. is there a option to get back the funktion from sketchup 2019?

      Most likely you have either Hidden Objects or Hidden Geometry turned on under View... no change to how Tag Visibility works!

      @@AaronMakingStuff Thank you for your answer, but that's not what I mean. if you hide a tag, the content in the outliner turns gray, i would have liked to hide it, as in Sketchup 19. The question is, is this a setting or has trimble removed the function. In blender the funktion called "visible layers" :-)

      Ahhh... now I understand. Outliner is meant to allow you to toggle visibility... if the name of an item disappeared when hidden, how would you get it back?

    Aaron - when I try to import an image as a texture I get the black circle with the slash and cannot drop the image in my model. Any advice?

    • @AaronMakingStuff
      @AaronMakingStuff 3 года назад

      Most likely you have your import type set to Use as Image or you are trying to drop your texture into a group/component

    And if it is a construction drawing .. please follow the KISS prjnciple... " keep it simple stupid" , no textures, no curves...
    It just needs accurate dimensions and basic form
