I work at a cafe in an airport, and although I never fly, some things I'd also recommend, and from a little past experience: 1. Wear shoes you can easily take on and off. Idk about Europe, but here in the US going thru security, you need to take them off, unless you are part of pre-check, which you can sign up for online I believe. 2. Bring your own empty water bottle! Since any liquids over 3oz aren't allowed through TSA, and since you want to stay hydrated, this way you don't have to pay like $3 for a water bottle afterwards. Just fill it up once you're through security. 4. Obviously don't bring skincare or makeup that is over the allowed fluid ounces either, otherwise it will get thrown out sadly. 5. Bring some sort of cardigan or jacket to wear bc it's always freezing in the airport, in any season. Layering is your friend. 6. Don't be like me and only find out during a 14 hr flight to know if you get air sickness; if you ever got car sick as a kid, take Dramamine before your flight takes off. We wouldn't want to ruin our flight (or clothing) puking, very unladylike lol. 7. Give yourself enough time. Not just to catch your flight, but if you plan to eat at the airport, make sure you have enough time to check your teeth and use the restroom before your flight takes off. Happy travels!!
@@naomiolohoy1461 how did your first flight go, did you take something for the flight. I have found, I can't fly without something. I use a Bonine, I really like it, Walgreens or CVS has them.
Idk why anyone hates on her, she’s really considerate of everyone’s different opinions. This travel advice is stuff I’ve always believed in, so I’m biased to like her lol There are other things I don’t agree with, but can we all appreciate this woman for her effort and time put in to give advice to others? I love it! ❤️
Because a lot of people don't like being called out that they're not doing their absolute best to improve themselves physically, financially etc. As sad as it is, there are a lot of people who don't want the finer things in life, or some that Do want those things but they don't think they're worthy of them and for someone like Ana who is blunt and honest about how you are the reason you live the way you do whether it's good or bad, it rings truth with them and they're not ready to face it.
If you kinda grab and bunch them up around you knee first (like when you put on pantyhose) then they’ll stay up while you do what you need to do. It’s a bit of a balancing act but will save us germ-conscious ladies. 😉
A simple scarf or shawl that can double as a coverlet if it gets cold on the flight or in airport is something I always take with me. It can also be wrapped up and used as a pillow and easily folded to slip in your bag if it gets too warm and stuffy. It’s my must have!
Yes I always carry a woollen shawl to wrap myself with. It’s easy to put on and take off and I folded and put it in my bag when no needed. I prefer it to a jacket
@Arabella Davis/Tried &True. Girl I don't even feel like putting on lace sneakers to walk my dog in the morning, how do you manage to get dressed in a suit 😂
wonderful video! true story, my husband who travels a lot for business told me one day "I'm going to start dressing up more when I travel because everytime I'm dressed up people just treat me differently. They even allow me extra pounds." so I started doing the same. The difference has been amazing. One day I was over the pounds and they allowed them, then the same day I left the passport on the counter and that nice girl came all the way to the plane to give it to me. Another day there was a huge delay and a lady that I had had a few words with saw me and invited me to wait with her at the bar. She did not let me pay for anything and that included diner and wine. Goodness, try these things they do work. I'm upping my travel game :)
My mom instilled in us to dress up going shopping. She said that people automatically treat you nicer! And they do! So I try to dress nicely everywhere!!!
In October I was returning from London to Portland, Oregon, and my bag was four pounds over the weight limit……because I didn’t have a good way to weigh it before I left. The woman at the counter let it go. Why? Idk, but I was polite, I laughed with her, we exchanged pleasantries and I was dressed nicely. Dressing nicely doesn’t need to involve lots of money, but it goes a long way if you add politeness with it. I was even given a better seat on the plane….with more leg room. Dress nicely, be polite and respectful…..it will get you further than being shabbily dressed and rude. Happy travels
@@g.970 my mother always insisted we dress nicely to go anywhere. She even wore a suit to go to the mall. Everywhere our family went, we were treated with the utmost respect. I remember touring Washington D.C. in the early 70’s wearing my dresses and Mary Jane’s. I was 8 years old. Every other tourist family had on shorts and tennis shoes. We even had photographers stop us to take pictures for magazines, telling us it was because our family was so well dressed. I’ve taken that advice throughout my life. My 90 year old mama still dresses nicely, even though she goes very few places.
@@northgeorgiamom8956 my family was the same. My Dad is 98 and still takes pride in his appearance. But somehow I ended up with a sister who dresses like a slob in sweats and XL T shirts with animals or sayings on them. She’s getting ready to go to Europe for her first time and I was trying to explain to her how to dress and act, but she says she doesn’t care. How we came out of the same womb I do not know. In high school I was voted best dressed. The local shoe store owner said his business suffered when I went away to college because when I’d buy shoes then the other girls wanted them too . Maybe I was an influencer before there was social media. No matter, I still carry what my parents taught me to this day. I just feel better about myself when I put in the effort to look nice.
Every time I watch your videos I realise how naturally elegant my mum is. She is never flashy and she doesn’t always buy big brands however she always buys quality over quantity and looks well turned out whether at the airport or at a big event. Being from Australia, a very “casual” country I didn’t really appreciate it growing up. Thank you for helping me appreciate her
Eboli I’m Australian too, and at times I think we ( in general) tend to dress a little too casual. My style is slowly evolving and moving up, and so is my daughters (22yo) I swear she reads my mind at times!
Annette Davies I agree, my mother is not Australian and perhaps that’s why she is different. In Australia casual is cool, I notice it a lot now I live in Europe 🙈
Honestly , the best and most comfortable clothes to wear when traveling are long or medium length dresses. Specially if they are not tight, it gives you a lot of movement , no pressure on you lengs and easy to go to the toilet , plus it works for both winter and summer. I usually wear them with loafers of mules. It really is a game changer
I am in my eighties and lived Chicago when I was young and one automatically dressed appropriately but then there were always items in the newspaper giving tips on this.. times have changed so much and the style now is to not care what anyone thinks. But it is good you are making an effort to bring back good taste
I love watching old movies where the men wore suits and hats and the ladiea dressed nicely to go grocery shopping. My pare ts never went into town without cleaning up and dressing appropriately. Now people go to town in their pajamas. Where did self respect go?
I want to add that on longer flights, you may become sleepy. The thought of a stranger watching me sleep is creepy. I bring my large dark sunglasses, and put them on when I feel sleepy. Hides my eyes perfectly. I also wear a nice large scarf that can serve as a coverup for my front, my arms and legs. I think being covered, especially when sleeping during the flight is important. Lastly, my motto is when traveling, “Keep it classy!”
Most airlines offer PJs to sleep when you fly business or first class…. at my age, I skip economy, too crowded and all of these Karens/Kevins. No more decorum when flying. It looks like a bunch people who are couch potatoes with low IQ and no etiquette
Always put an EMPTY water bottle in your carry-on purse or bag so once you get past security you can fill it. Staying hydrated is so important when traveling.
@@xlinsdayx I'm not sure about other countries, but in the United States they will let an empty water bottle through security. I usually bring a transparent bottle to make it obvious that there isn't any liquid in it. If there is liquid in your water bottle, security will make you through the bottle away or get out of line if you wish to empty it.
In all european countries i have been so far, all containers over 100ml for liquids gets taken :-( (empty as well as half full) but also, theres no water stations so you have to buy a water anyway. Bathroom taps are a big no no 🙆🏼♀️
Hi, Ana. A series on non designer bags and shoes on the $100-250 range would be ideal. Most women early in our journey cannot afford designer bags or shoes, but we still want to look good.
Very smart. I do that when I go to the grocery too--the refrigerated section. There is an ex flight attendant on here giving advice and she mentioned the plane is very cold and to dress accordingly. Layers.
Hi Anna I love your videos. I was a flight attendant for 27 years and I would definitely say that when you pack outfits tried to make it so all of the bottoms in all of the tops could be mixed and matched with each other. That way you get the maximum amount of variety for what you have packed and if something should happen to an item of your clothing you will still have an outfit that makes you look nice
I realize I’m finding this video a bit late but Ana does a really good job at highlighting the point that dressing for airport travel is not easy. It can be done in a classy way but there are a lot of points to consider. One point I would add is to consider safety, especially if you travel with things of value like expensive handbags or jewelry. Try not to wear things that scream, “take me!” to pick pockets. For example, jewelry with loose clasps or handbags that are easy to reach into. In addition to that, always maintain situational awareness. Never let your guard down no matter how often you travel or where.
I remember my trip to Majorca, where my sister used to live for a couple of years. One day, I decided to venture out on my own and wore very simple clothes, leggings, no jewelry, a tumi crossover bag. While I was enjoying a street dance, I noticed this aging don juan-like man perusing the public /tourists, trying to fish out the wealthy ones. His eyes stopped on me for a moment, then lost interest and moved on. Lol! That was so funny, considering I was, actually, a pretty well-off American. Lol. Good riddance! Lol.
It really doesn't matter what I do to prepare: whenever I step out of the plane I look like I WALKED the way. Through a jungle. During a heat wave. I prefer to arrive at night, in the dark and immediately disappear into the hotel shower lol
There should only be one tip for how to dress for air travel. Dress in a way that will allow you to deal efficiently and effectively with an emergency situation. It may sound dramatic, but the first thing in your mind should always be safety. It doesn't matter how stylish you are if your outfit renders you useless in an emergency.
Absolutely! That's why pilots say never to fly in flip flops. If there's an emergency landing and your "shoes" fall off, you may end up barefoot on pinching grass or worse.
Exactly. My husband and I always try to get an exit row for the leg room. We wear clothes that will allow us to get that door open! Sturdy shoes and items we can move in.
Since the day I found Anna's channel I do one thing before I go out. I stand in the mirror and I think "What Anna would think about my outfit if she has ever seen me at the street"? If I believe that she would like my outfit I step out of the house. If not I am trying to fix my fits. Thank you Anna for inspiring me to dress more chic and elegant. I pay so much more attention to colors, textures and fabrics now. Keep up the good work❤️
after reading this, please make yourself a favour and reconsider keeping Frida Khalo as your profile pics. Cause her and Anna are literally at the opposite sides. i'm saying this with all the love for everybody.
@@lovecerverenoire I was expecting that comment to be honest. I know Frida Khalo's mentality. I am watching Anna not because I want to find a rich man who will pay everything for me. I don't look for old money. I personally don't like that and I would never accept to completely live my life with somebody else's money. I watch her because I want some piece of advice on how to be more elegant myself and how to improve my style. I think that Anna gives very good advice on this subject. I don't know if you can understand what I want to say but all in all I don't look for a sponsor here.
I watched a video of a flight attendant instructor who said to NEVER WEAR SNEAKERS, polyester, or hairspray. If you survive a crash, the aforementioned items melt on you if there's fire. I'm 80 yrs old, and I love your videos. Thank you.
I've traveled most of my life, especially overseas, because my Daddy was in the Army. I've learned to not wear a strong fragrance, or no fragrance at all, because someone might be allergic, to carry my medicine and healthy snacks with me, and if I must wear makeup, to only wear a little, and to make sure to stay hydrated while flying, by drinking plenty of water.
Yes! Fragrances - please do not wear such strong ones, or avoid putting on too much. During my last long flight, I sat next to a lovely woman who used perfume that was head spinning spell bound thing. I got migraine right away and I had to cover my nose trying to get some sleep.
Your channel just keeps getting better and better. I love the direction you are taking with the focus on class, elegance, manners, etc. Please keep it up! Our society has become so crass and it is like a breath of fresh air to hear a woman advocating for other women to set the bar high by being elegant and classic. Thank you!
I just flew 24 hours from London back home to Sydney. I wore cashmere blended trousers and a bamboo jersey top. A large silk scarf was for colour, and a stylish finish to the clothing. My Tod's driving shoes completed the outfit with my old Gucci ostrich tote bag. I was super comfy but still stylish.
Thank you for endorsing palazzo pants! The last trip I took, I wore those and it was the best. So comfy! As for bags, I think of security first. I use a Pacsafe purse. It's not the most stylish, but it's cut-proof, slash-proof, has a locking zipper, and also has RFID protection.
If you don’t want to bring a jacket on to the plane, I suggest bring your shawl wrap scarf in your tote bag, during long haul the plane sometimes can get cold. Bring your wrap scarf during vacation can be so useful to cover your arms/ legs when you are visiting holy places such as cathedrals, churches , temples, mosques. You can even use it when you are feeling the chills by the beach, outdoor restaurants etc. Best thing about a wrap scarf is that it is less bulky and light weight.
I would like more videos on manners. Also, what's your opinion on women gloves (for travelling, how to style them, at what occasion is appropriate to wear them,...) Love your channel so much! It's so helpful
This was a great video. My travel is mostly overseas and my "go-to" aircraft outfit is J.Crew black pixie pants, a black turtleneck (in winter) a light pullover in black. Shoes? Repetto ballet flats in black. The amount of stuff that I fit into my Longchamp weekender is epic. I can fit over a week's worth of clothing. With the winter, I'll stick my coat into my husband's luggage. My airline tote is either a longchamp leather le Pliage or a LV Neverfull. Both fit a ton of stuff. I travel as light as possible. I also wear MINIMAL makeup because flying dries out my skin. I drink a ton of water in-flight. This is such a great video. Thank you so much.
Devil’s advocate: I come from a family who has always been “old money” and my parents always told me to wear activewear especially gym shoes on a plane. In the event of an airplane emergency, it is the smartest thing to be prepared for that. Also, you want to be comfortable in long plane rides, so I think that athleisure works fine for that. I agree with you that trousers are nice but wearing high heels on a plane is looked down upon. I purchased your school of affluence program and am starting the courses today.
Visplight , it’s the sneakers that’s the smart choice. A pilot once told me that he always flies in sneakers, when he’s a passenger. During emergencies, all shoes other than sneakers are taken off so as not to damage emergency equipment.
Athleisure is perfectly appropriate, imo. The world has changed. The 'Leggings are not pants' narrative belongs in the 80s when leggings were see thorough pants made from cheap polyester. We have Lululemon now. You spent $150 on those leggings! Wear them everywhere!
I agree that comfort is important on a plane, but I also have to agree that athleisure wear does not belong in none athletic activities and especially flying. There are so many cute non-athletic sneakers such as superga which would could be worn with jeans. Also, I often find that when I travel I have to wear shoes that would take up too much space such as block heel ankle boots rather than sneakers that are easier to pack. In the extremely unlikely event (less likely than a car accident) of an emergency athleisure would be better, yes, but would you apply that logic to other occasions?
I think it’s a personal choice. My MAIN priority in an airplane is to be comfy. I have a cute outfit ready for my post flight (normally when I arrive to the hotel I’ll change) to me I am my most comfortable wearing atheleisure. It’s a style now there’s a difference from wearing actually gym clothes vs cute styled “gym” clothes. I appreciate your view but I don’t think it’s appropriate to say “you can’t” or “you shouldn’t” just like you said about shoes, the whole outfit is a personal preference. About the people around me. I personally do not want to speak to them. I like to read a book or watch a movie. If I were to mingle and socialize yes I might consider dressing up a bit more. But to me traveling is traveling, not my destination.
I used to only change into yoga pants once I was ON long haul flights to sleep - not wear these beforehand. The custom used to be that people travelling first class, must wear business casual to board the flight. This standard still exists for family members of airline employees who show up to use standby tickets.
It doesn't seem to apply to celebrities though. I was on a flight with Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger and they were wearing these awful velour tracksuits
@@CathFerook Those velour tracksuits must be from 'Juicy', a very IN brand for awhile. I usually travel Business class and people who try too hard wear Juicy! 😂
Great video, thank you! I wear compression stockings when I travel as I tend to bloat at the ankles and your outfit suggestions make it easy to wear with these stockings, whilst still being elegant and sophisticated, comfortable and pragmatic!
I'd love a video on elegant lounge wear. What to wear when we are cosy at home alone, with friends or with our partner or having a relaxed week-end at the parent's or inlaw's house. What to wear when we have returned to the hotel after a busy day on the town and don't want to hide in the room, but rather sit in the lobby or somewhere comfortable and enjoy a cup of tea and a book. Not elegant events, but those spaces of time between things when we can relax and wind down without looking lika a bag of potatoes.
My favorite travel bag has got to be Senreve’s Mini Maestra. It’s perfect to wear as a backpack or bag, while still being chic and not flashy. I tend to avoid branded bags when in a place like the airport as to not make myself a target of theft! Love the video, so informative!
Theres two things ... 1. Most people wear their heaviest bulkiest items, to cut down on luggage space & fees. I suppose it's possible to look elegant in such a situation. 2. Years ago there was a magazine article on how to dress for airplane safety in case of fire or crash .. instead of for looks. For instance wear fabrics such as wool that dont burn quickly. Wear shoes that completely cover your feet to protect your feet and for running. I cant remember the rest of the suggestions .. i'll try to look it up.
I love these tips, Ana. Air travel is still considered a more luxury way of travel. We must stop dressing like slobs when traveling. Take pride in yourself. Pajama pants have got to go!!
It’s taken me a while to figure out what to wear but so far, this is what I’ve been comfortable with for 5-6 hour flights. 1. An extra long (ankle length) thin wool cardigan which flows very elegantly 2. A cotton white or neutral blouse/long sleeve top 3. Trousers (I recommend the on the fly pants from lululemon) 3. Bag is longchamp le pliage tote since it’s nylon, washable, zips up and has comfortable handles. Plus I’m not worried about it getting dirty. I’ll often put my nicer handbag inside 4. I wear a small crossbody (like a wallet on chain) for money, cash, passports 5. I always bring a blanket shawl 6. Shoes are bit tricky, but I would agree that loafers or flats are best
My airport uniform is a blazer/ light jacket, fine knit long sleeved top (with a good quality cami underneath), paper bag waist trousers and stan smith trainers. Perhaps some sort of scarf/shawl for longer flights.Never fails me!
Sister, Thank you so much, my life was full of sufering but now what ever i tatch, just is blessing only, i was an orphan with no fees, but i managed to study up to higher level and now am working Abroad, it's true thanks 🙏🙏🙏 dearest
You make my day, every time, with your smooth voice, your sweet smile and your polished manners that don't stop you from being fresh, outgoing and funny. My dear, elegant lady. :)
Hi Anna, this is Vijaya from India. I just want to thank you for everything that you share here. I recently stumbled upon your channel and absolutely fell in love with… myself. Yes somehow you taught me to love myself again, to take care and respect my own beautiful-self. You gave me a lot of confidence. I see a subtle change in my man as well, which is the added bonus :) Love you♥️
When I travel I like to put my day outfits in a gallon plastic bag along with the underwear in the jewelry that I will be wearing during the day, and then my night outfits in a separate gallon plastic bag with accompanying jewelry and undergarments. The reason why I do this, is because one day when I was stuck in an airport overnight and got up in Belgium 18 hours later, they neglected to tell everyone that they left the luggage outside in the rain. 18 hours later, all of my clothing stunk like mold! Every bit of it. I had to buy a new outfits! It was the worst disaster. So from now on I put all of my garments in plastic bags that are air tight, and I don’t carry anything that needs to be ironed. I have traveled to 63 countries and hundreds of cities throughout the world as a Salsa instructor, and wish I would’ve found you before my life journey! Hope this helps in anyway! Love you to death! Hopefully I’ll get to meet you someday! - Edie, The Salsa FREAK!!
helena clover no they did not. I did not discover this until I got to my hotel later that evening. I had literally no time to spend on the phone or letters with the airline. I figured they would just deny it. I’ve had my bouts with Airlines losing my luggage at least 40% of the time that I traveled. In some ways I miss all the travel, but another Waze when I think of that, I don’t miss it one bit! Made for good memories!! 😆
I always have a beautiful cape or poncho to keep me warm when the cabin gets cold or that can be rolled into a “pillow “. I look good and feel good. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
You look amazing with headbands Anna! It's both youthful and so elegant in my opinion. I have a babyface so I don't think I could pull one of, I would look like a child, but you make them look so good!!
The last transatlantic flight I wore, a Karl Lagerfeld crossbody bag with multiple sections of bags, so there I automatically have organized and easy to find a pen, passport, phone, headphones, tissue, glasses, toothbrush, a case that turns into a mirror and brush, they even fit me a couple of last minute small gifts that I bought at the airport without looking overwhelmed. The bag is around 20cm. Some wide pants with bags and the somewhat thick cotton fabric that are very good, I did not feel cold and very comfortable, in the bathroom the hem is folded so that they do not drag on the floor. A light 3/4 cardigan but enough for the flight and tennis like the ones Ana says. It really has been the most comfortable flight I have ever had ...
As someone who travels so much that it just becomes a pain I just wear comfy trousers and a simple oversized jumper in the winter and a oversized t in the summer. Always wear my black trainers/sneakers because theres a lot of walking. Thats it. Aw and a roomy bag so when buy things from duty free I put them in there. I like being hands free.
I love your videos. I feel like they bring practical class back to us women. SO many 'influencers" promote the stuff that seems, not necessarily what is right for us. Great work.
I get exceptionally cold in airplanes. So, no matter where I go, I travel in a black lined tank top instead of a bra, a soft no show pair of panties, a black, long sleeves turtle neck, a pair of nice jeans, a pair of comfortable leather boots, and a very good quality jacket like Marmot. I carry a well organized backpack instead of a purse, and I bring extra items, or products to help me stay as clean as possible - airplanes are dirty. I do my hair, put nice make up on, I wear earrings, so I look nice and neat. I travel a lot and I have it so well planned, that makes my life much more easier, because I'm actually afraid of flying a bit 😊
I mostly travel in the autumn /wintertime, and usually by train; I discovered that a good-fitting dress is my perfect way to dress while travelling. It's comfortable, not restricting in any way, looks chic and elegant. And I always wear heels, but not high heels; that's just a personal preference, because I don't like wearing flats at all (actually, same goes for trousers in general 🤔). I think everyone has to find her "travelling uniform", something that's comfortable, but still on the elegant side.
I’m right now at the airport and wear a beige cashmere/silk matching set including trousers, a mockneck short sleeve and a loose long sleeve. Plus a tweed Isabel Marant jacket and a cashmere/silk scarve. Feeling cozy and chic ♥️
I learned the hard way to dress as comfortably and as classy as possible when traveling. All the above, Anna, from chic dress to flats, especially when you do not know whether you will have to walk miles between terminals. 😀. Wipes, hand sanitizer, ibuprofen or aspirin, favorite snacks (too expensive in airports and less than adequate on planes), etc are just a few of the things I take with me to be comfortable. Great discussion 👍
I just found out THE BEST thing to wear for long-haul flights- a wrap dress! You can sit comfortably however you try be comfortable, easy to change from when you arrive a day after to your destination. I wore it with high boots with zippers on the side, super helpful running to and from terminals and gates, gives a tight hug on your legs; just take them off if you need too, just make sure you have some decent long socks underneath as you cover with a blanket 😁. And yes...compression socks your doctors recommend.
u can never go wrong with black head to toe: black comfy skinny pants and skinny long or short sleeve top (stretchy) and black ballet flats. Pop of color can be ur scarf u throw on to keep u warm if u need it and ur purse or tote bag. Also black chanel looking sunglasses to complete the look (the ones that are shaded half way). Trust me looks hella expensive but also classy in an audrey hepburn way... 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
ashsqx324 I don’t know how anyone can be insecure about all black when it is a very strong look, mysterious, yet timeless, classic, and fashion forward. One need look no further than Victoria Beckham or Karl Lagerfeld for evidence. With nice details like sunglasses, hardware / jewelry or a pop of colour one can look highly sophisticated yet still clean and comfortable. Carry a lint roller for a quick refresh.
@@susanmilne7463 no its people who are insecure when l wear black. Its partly superstitious also. In India if you wear all black people speak badly of you. Some people will also mock you etc its a cultural thing. And passing through security at Indian airports you get comments on why are you wearing all black etc people get very offended if you wear all black in India. I still wear it anyway but face a lot of nastiness.
I tend to wear stretch skinny dark wash jeans, a camisole, and a cute black fitted blazer when I fly. Also, the Longchamp extendable fold-up bags are great for a carry-on!
That shirt is such a gorgeous color on you, you’re so beautiful 💕 I just recently started watching your videos as I’m beginning my journey of self refinement and I’m very grateful for your videos, they’re very informative
Bags that actually close (totes, etc. with a zip!) are always a good idea for travel. When I send my bag through the xray or put under the seat or overhead bin things won't fall out and get lost. I'm also a fan of trousers! I actually don't think leggings are very comfortable. And I totally agree about workout wear anywhere but the gym. To me regular clothes feel better and they certainly look better. I like to bring a big "blanket scarf." I have different weights for different seasons. I'm flying to NY at Christmas (5 hour flight) and will probably use my cashmere stole. It's big enough to cover my body like a blanket and I'll be warm on the plane. I can use it throughout the trip as a wrap or scarf. Another favorite are these bras I found that are the shape of a typical sports bra, but without the tight support. Very soft and stretchy and no binding. The straps being wide don't dig into my shoulders. I love these for the plane. Feels like wearing nothing.
You look beautiful Anna. Love the hydrangeas and fabrics. ❤️ I agree with everything you said. I usually wear wide legged, flowy polyester trousers with top and light sweater, with flats.
I always wear jacket that has pockets that can close. I keep my pass, id and cell phone there(not in my bag). I wear short sleeve top with cozy scarf that I can put over my sholders if I feel cold. It feels like blanket.
Three things to try to do when flying to avoid getting blood clots is to wear loose, comfortable clothing, stay well hydrated, move lower extremities .
Thank you for the advice. I'm taking my mother and daughter on vacation this April. We call it the "Three Generational Trip," and I'm already buying pieces for my mother's wardrobe.
I also like to use Uniqlo tops with built in bust pads instead of wearing bras so I don't feel uncomfortable dusting long haul flights. This is a real game changer.
I remember you talking about it in your vlog and really liked your outfit, so glad you made a video out of it! Would be great if you could make a list of staples for everyday outfits to have in your closet? I am revamping my wardrobe this winter and would love your input as always... thank you!
This is a great travel commentary and refreshing to hear someone else put thought and effort into what they wear when travelling. Personally I always wear a mid calf knit dress with booties and a warm cardigan. The dress is as comfortable as a t-shirt, looks chic and tidy and the benefit of a dress, over trousers, is when you use the plane's washroom unlike trousers it doesn't rest on the dirty floor. For bags I find my custom monogram LV speedy cross body w/ matching rolling carry on is light and sits well on top of my rolly.
I've done a lot of travelling over the years, both business and pleasure, and also prefer a more polished look for travelling. I tend to wear either a full skirt dress, or wide trousers and always have a jacket or cardigan with me, as well as a pashmina. I pack most of my things away but use a larger light tote type bag for documents and essentials. This has always worked for me and I feel confident that I look good.
As someone who works with fabrics, if you are looking for breathable clothing, I recommend looking for clothing with a higher percentage of natural fibers to synthetic fibers. Polyester is not a breathable fiber, and especially if you're heading somewhere on the warmer side, natural fibers will be far more comfortable
Great video! I used to travel a lot and even though I still pack too many unnecessary things. I would love to see a video on how to pack for week trip to lets' say a place like NYC, or wine country, or places where there are casual activities (like hiking) and also nice dinners in the evening - this is the most challenging for me.
Laying is a must and that includes a large scarf that can double as a "blanket" because airplanes are cold and a lot of airlines are not providing blankets anymore.
Other fabrics y'all might wanna try out while traveling are tencel, lyocell, and organic cotton. 🙂 They're super comfortable for long haul flights AND they look elegant!
Good afternoon Anna and thanks for the lovely video. I grew up in a society where people always wear something new, that bought for the purpose of traveling and should not be worn when people are not traveling. I was taught that I should always look my best while traveling, that my outfit must look clean and pressed because while I’m traveling I am sending an international message with the way I’m presenting myself. I was taught that my outfit should be equally comfortable because without comfort, the trip will be a nightmare. Finally I was taught that I should be wearing dark colors while traveling to avoid any food or beverage spilling on my clothes during the flight. Thank you again for the great content Anna You are the best 💝💖💝💖
I agree with most, except for two points: the pants and the shoes. Sneakers are must, shoes without socks are not recommended, you may need to take off your shoes, and you don't want your bare feet on the airport or the airplane floors. Also, socks provided during flight can be used on top of your socks to protect them from dirt, otherwise they are usually wide. For pants, wearing any pants with wide hem is impractical; they will clean the restrooms floors. Elegant joggers and trousers with narrow hem will work though. I have traveled very long flights, from very hot to very cold, and vice versa, and these are my two points.
Before the 1960s, everyone used to dress up for travel (airplane, train, etc). From the rich to the poor, and now people wear pajamas, sweatshirts, shorts that exposes everything and gym clothes. My late grandmother mentioned it several years ago. I usually travel in a casual chic dress or white jeans/blouse/loafers. I have a beautiful blush pink leather sneakers that look stylish. I have a spine injury from the military, so heels are extremely painful for me. Now I have great options. Great video!! Much needed advice. I love your channel!
Yeah, and don't forget some show their underwear out their tracksuit too, hmmmm! Men when the bend over and their underwear shows is not a good look, some even have their track suit bottoms hanging down to show it!
My fave airport outfit formula: Stretchy fashionable a-line dress [jersey] + big scarf + designer tote bag + comfy footwear [ballerinas/sandals] I always look fashionable in this without sacrificing comfort.
As a man, I always wear a suit and tie when I fly. I always thank the flight attendants on entering the plane as well as when leaving. I am always treated differently.
Anna, I love it so much when you're talking about gym clothes outside of the gym LOL you are hilarious. The disgust is just comical to me in a good way. For flying, I always wear a maxi dress and cute flats, plus a blazer or cadi in case it gets chilly. For me it is just less stress to throw on a dress rather than figuring out comfort and matching. I'm already super tall and long legged so comfort is the most important thing
@@HosCreates as unladylike as it sounds, I will sometimes spread my legs so that my knees are on either side of the chair in front of me. That's part of why I always wear a maxi dress LOL. And if I'm with a person that I know it's not a big deal. If the person sitting next to me is a stranger however, I will shift in my seat and point both my knees towards the window or towards the aisle. I make sure that I never sit in the middle
You are so right about bra straps interfering with your comfort. I hadn’t thought about it until you mentioned it. Great advice. I usually travel about 3-4 times a year, so thank you. It’s good to,have reminders to make you more comfortable.
It really depends for how long one will be traveling and where... 2 hours flight for a summer vacation to a luxury hotel vs. 4 days trip on multiple airlines with 13 hours flight over the ocean, waiting at the airports...and trying to get behind the war zone -- switching to the train for another 2 days travel...ultimately those are different trips...you can still be somewhat elegant on the second trip...if you will have any life left in you at the end, but adding up excessive heat or cold to your travel days and nights -- and the survivor of the specie in the process just becomes the only priority....
This calms me. I don’t know what it is about watching you but I feel clear minded and like my goals are achievable when I do. It’s not even that I agree with you 100% of the time. But I even like that aspect. You have me considering other points of view and even changing my mind sometimes, not to mention just general advice from you that makes me feel confident. I would honestly feel weird if I met someone I agreed with all the time. Thank you for providing for us on this platform.
Because of the small risk of losing a bag during a tight transit, it is always a good idea to pack your valuable and cannot-live-without items into your carry on bag. Airtags are great to track your checked luggage, too- you drop one into your bag and when you get to your destination you can track your checked luggage as it makes its way to the baggage carrousel.
There is very low humidity on commercial aircraft, so a good moisturizer is essential, as is drinking one 8-oz glass of water for every hour in flight.
I would love to see your closet and how you have everything placed and divided etc.....

I work at a cafe in an airport, and although I never fly, some things I'd also recommend, and from a little past experience:
I get car/bus/boat sick all the time but never once got sick on a plane.
I feel relieved. I am hoping it would also be the same for me. I will be having my first flight soon.
I like the idea of the empty water bottle😀
@@naomiolohoy1461 how did your first flight go, did you take something for the flight. I have found, I can't fly without something. I use a Bonine, I really like it, Walgreens or CVS has them.

Great info & things to think about!
Manipulative .
I like her too ❤
My problem with wide leg pants is the bathroom on the plane. I don’t want my pants touching any part of the floor
Lamma Al-B. This is so relatable 😂
OMG yes ewwwwww
If you kinda grab and bunch them up around you knee first (like when you put on pantyhose) then they’ll stay up while you do what you need to do. It’s a bit of a balancing act but will save us germ-conscious ladies. 😉
I usually wrap them up to avoid them touching the floor
Indeed!! That's why i like wear leggings on planes but yes it's not elegant.
Please make a video on what to wear when you just need to run some quick errands or even stay home :)

For staying home, a cotton sundress, nothing expensive, a nice pair of leggings and a soft cotton T shirt or a sweater, cozy socks, no crazy patterns.

@Arabella Davis/Tried &True. Girl I don't even feel like putting on lace sneakers to walk my dog in the morning, how do you manage to get dressed in a suit 😂
Yes.
wonderful video! true story, my husband who travels a lot for business told me one day "I'm going to start dressing up more when I travel because everytime I'm dressed up people just treat me differently.

Thank you for helping me appreciate her
Eboli this is so sweet

A sleep mask sounds more appropriate than sunglasses

Always put an EMPTY water bottle in your carry-on purse or bag so once you get past security you can fill it. Staying hydrated is so important when traveling.
I thought they take all kinds of bottles (empty or full) :o
@@xlinsdayx I'm not sure about other countries, but in the United States they will let an empty water bottle through security. I usually bring a transparent bottle to make it obvious that there isn't any liquid in it. If there is liquid in your water bottle, security will make you through the bottle away or get out of line if you wish to empty it.
In all european countries i have been so far, all containers over 100ml for liquids gets taken :-( (empty as well as half full) but also, theres no water stations so you have to buy a water anyway. Bathroom taps are a big no no 🙆🏼♀️

💯
I bring antibacterial wipes for the airplane table and more, and a face mist, (Chanel Hydra Beauty is amazing), to freshen up my overall energy :)
Same here. Planes are disgusting😂
I 100% agree with antibacterial wipes and face mist...It really makes a difference.
Have you seen Naomi Campbell's airplane ritual? If not, you must :-)
I always bring it up bacterial wipes and spray!I also throw an extra pashmina in in case I get cold.
Even a roller ball of a calming scent might be nice too
I realize I’m finding this video a bit late but Ana does a really good job at highlighting the point that dressing for airport travel is not easy.
I had this happen to me on my last flight. No sleep but I had worn my makeup for 12+ hours and when I landed I immediately put a hat on and shades.
Hahaha
Saaaaame
😂😂😂
Hahaha, OMG, that's me! I don't know what happens to my hair during a flight as I've done nothing but sit still!
Airline attendants have said the nylon pantyhose melts onto the skin in an airplane fire. I always try to wear natural fibers on planes.
This right here is why I always do high end sneakers instead of loafers
Struggling to see what part of the outfit she recommended made her useless in an emergency

Lee good point! Sneakers are a hassle too if you have to remove them for security. I wear loafers with a mule back.
Agreed! I saw a similar video, too and it has always stuck with me.

Interesting! Yet another reason to hate polyester!
Thank you so much for mentioning fragrances. I am super sensitive to fragrances so travelling is often a challenge.
Mary-Catherine Ryan oh my god you have no idea how this no/mild perfume makes for a much comfortable flight for your seatmates!
Sometimes.. Depending on the fragrance, I get a horrible migrane at the first "snif". The world needs more people with empathy. Thank you!
My mother is horribly allergic to strong fragrances, and I am quite sensitive. We greatly appreciate people like you with such awareness!
Yes! Fragrances - please do not wear such strong ones, or avoid putting on too much. During my last long flight, I sat next to a lovely woman who used perfume that was head spinning spell bound thing. I got migraine right away and I had to cover my nose trying to get some sleep.

Anna, this soft mint color on you is perfection. Lovely...as always!
You covered everything. I'd add this: Do not wear too much perfume - this bothers many of us on a flight.

Cream gloves (and shoes) are my signature. Amazon has lace, leather, fingerless! Woo! Only problem - as with umbrellas, they're easily lost.

In the event of an emergency what possible difference could sweatpants vs. comfy trousers make?

I completely agree. I think everyone can try to look decent even while flying coach.

1. An extra long (ankle length) thin wool cardigan which flows very elegantly
2. A cotton white or neutral blouse/long sleeve top
3. Trousers (I recommend the on the fly pants from lululemon)
3. Bag is longchamp le pliage tote since it’s nylon, washable, zips up and has comfortable handles. Plus I’m not worried about it getting dirty. I’ll often put my nicer handbag inside
4. I wear a small crossbody (like a wallet on chain) for money, cash, passports
5. I always bring a blanket shawl
6. Shoes are bit tricky, but I would agree that loafers or flats are best
jas9233 the Flight Attendant of course recommends no white, and that is a true point. I like your list otherwise, thank you.
Thanks for these tips
Just love the you say “My dear elegant ladies”. So warm.
My airport uniform is a blazer/ light jacket, fine knit long sleeved top (with a good quality cami underneath), paper bag waist trousers and stan smith trainers. Perhaps some sort of scarf/shawl for longer flights.Never fails me!
What about the hair? What do you recommend?
I see a subtle change in my man as well, which is the added bonus :)
Love you♥️
What a beautiful and inspiration comment! Thank you! 🌹
This is definitely compensable! No way should you have foot the bill for replacing all your stuff yourself!
Prettite ! I agree - but it was years ago. I was too young and naive. Lesson learned.
Edie The Salsa FREAK!! How about a plastic hard shell or aluminum suitcase? 😂
soroxanne it may work... but they did not exist back then. 🙄😆
Oh, and a scarf. Always bring a scarf with you; it can get very chilly when air conditioning is on!
Can you make a video about how to dress to school/ university?😊💎
Great idea!
Yess please it would be so helpful.
Wonderful topic!
Yes we need that
Let’s start by not wearying pjs to class!😊
I’m right now at the airport and wear a beige cashmere/silk matching set including trousers, a mockneck short sleeve and a loose long sleeve. Plus a tweed Isabel Marant jacket and a cashmere/silk scarve. Feeling cozy and chic ♥️
Photo, or it didn't happen...
I NEVER know what to wear when traveling and at the airport. This has been so helpful to me. Thank you!
Such a flattering colour on you, your skin is really glowing in this video. Great tips - comfort is so important. 😊
All black sounds horrible. It's not necessary. Nice jeans , any colour top and a blazer is much better. Elegant does not mean invisible.
I agree, all black can be classy and also practical for travel.
That's exactly how l dress too! But always get negative comments from others who are insecure about black. Still wear it anyway!
ashsqx324 I don’t know how anyone can be insecure about all black when it is a very strong look, mysterious, yet timeless, classic, and fashion forward.
Great advice! I always travel with a big scarf. It can act has a coverup shawl or a neck pillow. I can fit in my handbag.
Sooo happy you made this I have a 16 hour flight coming up
I honestly can't get enough of you and your videos Anna. I hope you will maybe post more new content for us to learn from!
That green top is Soo beautiful! Couldn't take my eyes off of it ! 💗
Thank you again for the great content Anna
You are the best 💝💖💝💖
Hi Anna,
Please do a house tour, would be so interesting. I love your choices, so elegant and classy. So please do this one day. Thanks
😂😂 I saw a woman in her pj's aswell😀😀
@@elizabethjones4325 oh no!!! 😔
Yeah, and don't forget some show their underwear out their tracksuit too, hmmmm! Men when the bend over and their underwear shows is not a good look, some even have their track suit bottoms hanging down to show it!
You clearly don’t fly much if you think that what you wear is appropriate
My fave airport outfit formula:
Stretchy fashionable a-line dress [jersey] + big scarf + designer tote bag + comfy footwear [ballerinas/sandals]
I always look fashionable in this without sacrificing comfort.
this video comes out right before my flight across europe... what a timing!
As a man, I always wear a suit and tie when I fly. I always thank the flight attendants on entering the plane as well as when leaving. I am always treated differently.
I believe in thanking the crew on entering & exiting the plane as well. I also like to voice appreciation for care along the way. 🥰
That's what my husband does, too.
I'm fairly tall for the USA and I always get cramped legs on flights! What do you do when you get cramped legs ?
@@HosCreates as unladylike as it sounds, I will sometimes spread my legs so that my knees are on either side of the chair in front of me. That's part of why I always wear a maxi dress LOL. And if I'm with a person that I know it's not a big deal. If the person sitting next to me is a stranger however, I will shift in my seat and point both my knees towards the window or towards the aisle. I make sure that I never sit in the middle
@@shahana_style Makes sense. I try to get my feet under the seat in front of me and lean my seat back, but my feet don't always fit !
