Good sound, but the interpretation of this SPIRITUAL lacks any ‘spirit’. Anyone can sing spirituals, it’s obviously not reserved for black people, but you’ve got to try to preserve the authenticity somehow.
@@Redbuff74 I think was he is trying to say is that the chorus is performing it 100 % correct but they don't have themselves the Spiritualistic mentality and of course that is then missing. To make it clear i love this performance but knowing the original there is a huge Difference one that doesn't made this Performance a bad one but the mystic aspect is missing
Yeah the clip of the African American chorale for spirituals a like 9 years. It was something personal about it…the slower tempo and the over feeling. This was pretty. Beautiful singing but it lack substances and that meat on the notes.
@@jerroldtidwell it was very pretty singing. It just lacked in the approach, the tempo was very “standard”…it the overall sound that a negro should have is not shown at its greatest light. I’m black I don’t mind hearing most white choirs sing NEGRO spirituals…but it will never compare to the more authentic, black, spiritual experience which is always conveyed differently while singing these specific songs. Honestly it was good. There’s just literally another all black choir singing this exact piece. And it was more of an experience if anything.
Did this my junior year of high school and it still brings me chills.
Extremely well done. I’ve seen 5 so far and you guys were #1. What a blessing.
Heard this arrangement for the first time at my college's convocation today and had to find a way to listen to it again...
Amazing rendition of the wonderful Parker-Shaw version of this spiritual. Conductor, soloist, members of the chorus, well done!!!
Beautiful

I’m gonna need some specifics. What could they have done, in your analysis, to capture the ‘spirit’? What were you hoping for?

You can't please everyone. It was magnificent. Haters gon' hate. Their loss.

Lol sorry you can’t enjoy good music. It’s really hard to achieve a sound like this
If you were a child of God, you would have felt chill bumps and cried.
