India claimed a 5-4 victory over Germany, as they won bronze and secured their first medal in men’s hockey after 41 years. This is India’s 12th Olympic medal in hockey.

When the Odisha govt led by Naveen took hockey under it's wing in a big way , building world class stadiums, sponsoring both teams, getting the world cup 2018 organised in Bhubaneswar , many didn't think it was going to pay off like this. No words .. we are just behind Australia and Belgium , we have beaten almost every other major team except Netherlands in Tokyo. Awesome !

The best thing about the match was that every time India bounced back very quickly after conceding goals.

India was never lacking in skills. Only in fitness they were lacking, and that issue has now been addressed by the excellent support team which was not there 2 decades ago. This team has succeeded because of it's fitness in addition to the skills which we have traditionally.

The last time indian men's hockey team won a medal at Olympics, my father was not even in his teenages, growing up hearing the stories of the decorated history and domination of our national team , and Lucky enough to witness the moment of glory, finally, finally, huge huge win for India, we bounced back after a loss , I hope the government , especially Navin ji continues to support India, and every state government steps up to support hockey in india, and we find big sponsorships, not only in hockey, but in every single sport, what a phenomenal dayy.
