John Hughes was the definitive King of 80's Teen Comedies. He influenced many contemporary filmmakers, and his stories and characters are timeless. ♥️

Same here. Sometimes I talk along with it. Same with Jules's dialogue with Ringo and the Ezekiel 25:17 reference. I can pretty much recite it. And that's taken decades of rewatching, I've always admired actor's ability to memorize lines. Especially stage actors.

My sister, brother and I quote Weird Science to this day. That movie is filled with fantastic quotes.
The only negative thing I have to say about all the John Hughes tributes to his phenomenal movies is that my favorite is never, or if it is, I haven't come across it yet and would love for someone to let me know about it, is the movie 'She's Having a Baby'. That movie is so sweet, so smart, so funny, so full of fear and yet confidence. It truly of what marriage is all about. And the song Kate Bush wrote for the movie, "This Womans Work" is just a masterpiece. That tear falling from Kevin Bacon's face but landing as a drop of blood on the floor.......I don't know how John Hughes did the magic he did but I'm damn thankful he did. I miss the hell outta you, Mr. Hughes and I thank you for giving me, my children and now my oldest grandchild (and the others to follow as they get older) great movies. RIP and I can't wait to see what you have waiting for us in heaven.

AMH is easily one of the best actors of the Brat Pack. Beyond his work in the Hughes films, he was stellar as the antagonist in Scissorhands and he gave a great solo performance in Out of Bounds (1986). The character Daryl Cage was a true departure from anything he'd done prior.

The Gedde Wantanabe character , I guess could theoretically be ‘offensive’; but , Gedde , to me, created a caricature. He’s Asian, unlike Mickey Rooney, who truly was offensive with his stupid false teeth. I mean, come on, the character’s name was Long Duck Dong. Why not animate it with the silly accent?

Welp! Just helped me get through a nice chunk of time at work going down memory lane. Born in 81' myself, W.S. is probably my favorite as its so wild, followed naturally by the B.C. But honestly how you gonna forget to include the Sixteen Candles scene in the first Harold&Kumar flick? Booo! Nah its cool 👍

I think the days of method actors acting is like a holes to their cast mates in order to get into character are over. Especially with the me too movement and zero tolerance for bullying and harassment. I also think there’s something inherently selfish in that approach. It’s very centered on one’s self, and not taking into consideration what other actors need to perform. So the take home was Judd was a real schmuck, at least during that movie.

In Brazil, Weird Science got out as "Mulher Nota 1000". Hard to translate. Here quizzes are graded from 0 to 10 or 100, depending on the school, so a "1000-grade woman" is something like a "A++++ woman" for Americans.

Sixteen Candles is hilarious! I grew up with it and people need to lighten up. These ultra PC times we live in are boring. “ look how woke I am, and don’t my farts smell so good” ? Just get over your pretentious self and learn how to enjoy a comedy from the eighties.

    • @Scottocaster6668

Next they'll be offended because Long duck Dong used forks like chopsticks instead of real ones.😆😆

I never understood the appeal of molly ringwald. I dont get whats so special about her in any of her 80s movies. Even her style isnt that 80s look I like to see in pop culture. Maybe it's a thing of that era that I just dont see. On the other hand, I like the other brat pack actresses and completely get their "80s vibe", for example in 'St Elmo's fire' .

Let me add, back in the 80's no one cared about politics or correctness. It was comedy, blondes got a bad rap, so did different Ethnic groups and smart people (nerds), jocks, cheerleaders... stop criticizing what was and move on already
