I am a Cradle Catholic and a product of Catholic life and education. I am a middle aged physician and my Catholic life and principles have guided me to live a meaningful life and gave me the resilience to get through the challenges of life. Bravo for the excellent work you are doing. May God bless you and guide your every step. One thought I would add to your presentation today is to emphasize also on the word EDEN. When we are asked to Go out an “Edenize” the world we live in, it includes our devout stewardship of the “ Eden “ that God gave us. This includes all his creation the animals, the plants , water, air, beauty that that makes our life possible and makes “ heaven on earth”. That is also the one of the meanings of “ thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. None of these beings/ things were created by us. It was gifted to us so that we could shine forth as human beings manifesting our full potential to do the will of the creator. If we took good care of all the gifts God gave us we would be fulfilled and live a meaningful and purposeful life. Thank You for the wonderful work you are doing. Evangelizing includes teaching to respect God’s Creation🙏 Keep up the excellent work👍
I could listen to Bishop Barron all day. His speech is so easy on the ears and inviting to the soul. It’s continually an expansion of heart and mind. Thank You, Jesus Christ for all the good clergy! Amen. +J.M.J.+
barron is a heretic as he believes almost noone is in hell and ALL religions are a potential path to salvation.........proof?? chech out vaticancatholic and the Dimond brothers.
In the Catholic Church, the Eucharist is not the spiritual presence of Jesus, it is Jesus body, blood, soul and divinity. I can’t understand how anyone can read John 6 and not see that Jesus meant exactly what He said.
John 6:63 Jesus clears up your confusion. The bread and wine are bread and wine , they are not God , they are not to be worshipped , they are just eaten and drunk as if they are bread and wine. Symbolic Yes and in no way any less important to Remember what He Has DONE once and for ALL To put Christ back on the alter in a bloodless reenactment is not only useless but an insult to Jesus.
@@brucewmclaughlin9072 While they were eating, Jesus took *BREAD,* said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, “Take and eat; *THIS IS MY BODY"* Then he took a *CUP* , gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you, for *THIS IS MY BLOOD* of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. [Mat 26:26-28]
@@For3nity God gave physical food ( Manna ) in the wilderness and now God has provided spiritual food by His son Jesus John 6:63 . John 6: points out that the followers were looking to be fed physically and Jesus decides to point them towards spiritual food and the followers found their free physical food was at an end . You are to internalize Jesus not eat flesh and drink blood as Jesus and the Jews were all under Torah law and they all knew that it was forbidden. The bread is bread and the wine is wine 1220 A.D. Adoration of the Wafer (Host), decreed by Pope Honorius III. and neither are to be considered as God in the flesh . for THIS IS MY BLOOD of the covenant, which WILL BE shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. [Mat 26:26-28] WILL BE has been changed to HAS BEEN as we see Christ's crucifixion's results. Jesus died once and for all and to have a reenactment in a bloodless way on the alter is an insult to Christ as you re-crucify Him for what He has done once and for all. "Do this in remembrance of Me " NOT " do this to Me"
@@brucewmclaughlin9072 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, *you do not have life within you.* [John 6:53]. You have no life within you because you reject his words in John 6:53. That's why you cannot see him in the Eucharist.
@@For3nity That is not correct I do not reject Christ or His words I reject the eucharist based on putting Christ back on the cross to die for my sins again in a bloodless reenactment on the alter . Jesus died once and for all. Under Torah law that Jesus and the Jews knew and obeyed it was forbidden to drink blood. Obviously Jesus knowing that used this as a symbolic rather than literal position. John 6:63 points out the flesh profits nothing!! Ok so lets assume that transubstantiation is true , what happens to the believer when eating the body and blood of Jesus ? Please explain.
So true! We don't go to worship to a place, but by our lives lived in being worship the Father as sons. A living sacrifice like Jesus, in putting God's will the WAY of love before our own. Obedience brings salvation in this life, whereas disobedience brings sorrow and corruption in what is meant to be according to God's heart. ❤
Could you imagine if the whole world became honest and fervent Catholics and revered the early church fathers and the sacraments and prayed, and we had a full year of no sin, what a year that would be for the world
Imagine when the thousand years of Peace will come, and it is sooner than all realize… True Peace for it will be Jesus that brings it to mankind. The Pope declared next year a Jubilee year… but for the Jews, next year is the year of Gimmel as this one was the year of Dalet. Dalet is the poor man that bends in humility with an ear pointed to the sky. Gimmel is the rich man that runs to give alms to the poor man… Gimmel is Jesus whi forgives us, and in October 2024 the year changes for the Jews from Dalet to Gimmel… this year GOD brings us to humility so that next year He may bless us. And next year is the Jubilee year, where all asking for forgiveness are forgiven. I do not believe in coincidences, as this year the eclipse going moving from Jonah to Nineveh spoke for us to bow in humility and repentance to GOD before we are chastised. GOD is bringing HIS Kingdom back to us, and our Church will be revived again, and the people will come back to GOD in conversion. We just need to keep praying so all repent and soon, for the final days are closer than ever, and all mankind must make their final choice-either we choose humility and repentance turning back to GOD with love, or we choose to move away from HIM and with pride condemn ourselves to an eternity without GOD. There are no other choices, as the in between that most humans live in now will cease to exist as we must choose our side, GOD and all that is Good, or the worst option, destruction as without GOD we are nothing so pushing HIM away and out of ourselves is like ripping off our own skin, refusing to breathe in the “Breath of Life” and therefore not choosing GOD is hell itself. Pray that all people-no matter where they are now or have been in their past-decide to choose GOD instead of destruction. May GOD bless and keep us all.🙏🏽✝️
I hAve purchased Bishop Barons Word on Fire Bible (4 volumes) and I can't exaggerate the blessing it is being to me BB's commentary is all through it. And it is the most beautiful Bble I have ever owned with works of art spread throughout.
I think they are great too, but I'm really have become discouraged with Barron's teachings (A) Barron only teaches to those that can comprehend is flamboyant vocabulary (B) those who are familiar and well versed in the ideology of CS Lewis, Newman, Ignatius, church Fathers and many more (C) those that can afford his bibles, and books (D) Barron's holding a "Good News Conference" in Milwaukee end of this month the cost for person and hotel is 2k. The cost for a couple to attend with airfare would be close to if not over 5k. I wish we could pass the blessing on to all people not just one demographic. Barron's not at all doing that, he's not leading people to Christ. He's making Catholics feel good about being Catholic. Please pray for our church.
An incense burner is called a censer, used to bless the altar and congregation. It comes out of Jewish liturgy and, was the duty of Zachariah when in the temple at Gabriel’s appearance, announcing the coming of St John the Baptist.
A protestant here. Inviting non christians to church has seemed to lead churches to this need for 'relevance' which in turn has lead to communion being sidelined, worship being reduced to singing boyfriend songs to jesus, and preaching reduced to motivational sermons and prosperity teaching. I tend to think edenising the world starts with a return to holiness and proper worship and christians re-establishing a credible voice in the public arena.
Yes. When I look at the culture in the world around me, I can't think of anywhere I am least likely to go, to get orientation about how to do church - church does absolutely NOT have to be "culturally relevant" in fact, it shouldn't be. Welcoming and friendly, yes, "culturally relevant" no, no, no.....
Good and faithful disciple you are and are a blessing to me and God our father. This was revealed to you by our father in heaven . I testify of this truth. In the presence of God our father.
Jesus is present in the Eucharist in body, blood, soul and divinity. So what you are telling us is Jesus gets off the seat next to God and comes down to the eucharist meeting to die yet again in a bloodless way for your sins that He died once and for All on the cross? Jesus sitting next to God in heaven symbolizes the complete sacrifice for all sins and there is no reason to put Jesus into a reenactment of a bloodless re-sacrifice for sins already paid for.
It is the Holy Spirit which is called down, the same Holy Spirit that made the incarnation possible in the womb of the blessed mother, makes present again the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord. Jesus in His Glorified Body is not relegated to time and space. His once for all sacrifice is not bound by it. Therefore yes, He can make the sacrifice of calvary present once but for all time, because He is timeless. And it is done through the Holy Spirit, which is the Advocate and guides the Church into all truth.
80% of socalled catholic don't believe in the real presents and in the novus ordo that is true as all the sacrements have been defiled by vatican 2................wake up and try vaticancatholic..............i pray you do
@brucewmclaughlin9072 That is exactly what happens at every Catholic mass an unbloody sacrifice of Jesus. He said this is my body this is my blood do this in memory of me. He said unless u eat my body and drink my blood u have no life in you. He who eats my body and drink my blood will have eternal life.

Loved this video. I like Bishop Barron’s passion and it’s encouraging to hear his thoughts on “Edenizing” the world. His references to the church fathers indicate how important those sources alone. Scripture alone cannot give this kind of in-depth thought about God. Thanks for sharing. Great commentary also.
Barron's idea of edenizing is only with the folks in his demographic. (A) those that can comprehend is flamboyant vocabulary (B) those who are familiar and well versed in the ideology of CS Lewis, Newman, Ignatius, church Fathers and many more (C) Barron's holding a "Good News Conference" in Milwaukee end of this month the cost for person and hotel is 2k. The cost for a couple to attend with airfare would be close to if not over 5k. @@richardcowart3227 Things aren’t always as they seem… 1) Scholars/Learned persons tend to use “flamboyant” vocabulary. The more you read those types the more you learn and understand it, or look it up. So not sure why that’s an issue. 2) One doesn’t have to be well versed in those theology giants, but it’s good to know who they are and start opening yourself to some of their wisdom. 3) Pricing 2049 for single room and 1749 double room. INCLUDES: Three (3) days of attendance at all general and breakout sessions; Two (2) Masses (assume free); Two (2) nights accommodations; Two (2) dinners at the hotel; Two (2) continental breakfasts at the hotel. Also there are 14 Speakers to accommodate, for their flight, 2 nights, meals as well; of which 7 are very well-known persons. At the Hyatt so for 2dinners and 2 cont breakfasts and single room lodging, say 600 for both nights, 60 for 2 dinners, 40 for both breakfasts; at 1349. If you booked in April by a certain date they took off 200, as well to 1149 and that goes toward the 14 speakers accommodations and not even the fee they charge to speak. So evenly between all 14, ~82 for you to attend each speaker. Unfortunately, with the “Biden”/Modernist economy, prices are way up. How much is a ticket for one concert? That may give you some type of euphoria for a few hours, but not something that intellectually and spiritually educated you and an experience that will be with you forever :) I get it, I wouldn’t be able to go to it either $$$$; therefore, not meant for me to attend. I’ve gone to other smaller Catholic Conferences more affordable and well worth it. So not really about money. At this point I can no longer go to any of it anyway, due to health issues, so consider yourself blessed at this moment in time. Always hope and trust. Never compare yourselves to others used to do that from HS until my early 40s then didn’t care after that. The older you get you realized the importance is God, Family and neighbor, which is sorely lacking in our culture since the 60s.🙏🏻 It’s my cross I’m embracing and thanking Jesus every day for giving me the opportunity to suffer and to offer it all up, become closer to Him by detaching from this crazy world, and learn to work on virtue.

I love how all of us, are looking for our Lord with all our hearts, God Bless you brother, Bishop Barren is a gem,. In the first part, as a Catholic, I notice that the bishop is indeed talking about the rite of the mass. The mass, in itself, is the celebration of the history of Redemption, first reading the prophets, the psalms, then the apostles, ending in the Gospel, after that come the rites of consecration, which is the most important part, and the one that Bishop Barron refers to is when the priest goes up the mountain, and God descends to meet him, in the Eucharist, listening to you, I see the Transfiguration happening, and after that, we go to Calvary, where Christ offers himself to the Father through our salvation, I am very moved to hear you, and to find in your reflection, a complement to Bishop Barron's interpretation, God bless you brother. P.s. I apologize for my wording, but I am Mexican, and I used the translator
In the Catholic Church one is to offer oneself totally and every day as an offering to God for: reparation of one's sins, for the intentions of others, for the salvation of souls, all in union with the sacrifice of the mass. The mass being the re-presenting of the one and only sacrifice on the cross of Christ, a sacrifice that is made spiritually present to us. In that way, we tack on our part of what Christ asks of us, to carry our particular cross and as saint Paul says, filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions on the cross. Now what could possibly be lacking in the complete and perfect sacrifice of Christ in His redemption of mankind? Well, that would be the debt owed to God for our personal sin after baptism. Christ redeemed us, after that we are quite capable of damaging that redemption. We can lose our souls after baptism by sin. Christ offers us forgiveness of sins after baptism via repentance by way of confession of sins to those who received the power to forgive sins from Him after He rose from the dead. He blew on them and gave them that power as shown in scripture. Therefore, one should offer all of ones prayers, works, joys and sorrows to God in atonement for one's sins, and even the sins of the world, in total union with the ONE sacrifice of Christ on the cross which is to say, in union with ALL the masses said throughout the world. In this way a perfect worship is conducted. Those who are wise, who know who the new Adam is. Some think there is no new Eve. However, there is a new Eve, she is called Mary, the sinless mother of the Lord Jesus. In virtue of her role as mother of the redeemer, in virtue of the sacrifice that Christ was to make, she was preserved from original sin so as to be a perfect vessel for the God-man, her sinless flesh was used in the conception of the Savior in virtue of her spousal relationship with the Holy Spirit, as well demonstrated by the conception itself. Thus this daughter of God, is the mother of the Son, Spouse of the Spirit, and daughter of the Father. Christ is the savior of all, his mother is not. She is a mere highly favored one, full of grace. She is, as the Woman, both at the wedding feast, and at the cross. Her one child dying, from the cross He gave the Woman to his disciple, thereby making His mother our mother. This is fitting because in the Davidic kingdom the queen is indeed the mother of the king. Keep in mind He was born in Bethlehem, "house of bread" laid in a manger, a feeding trough, My flesh is real flesh, He said, He said it from birth, he said in from day one. He says it at every mass, every day. He is alive. He is in the Tabernacle of every Catholic Church in the world, and as was in Bethlehem He awaits, little and hidden, hidden by all outward appearances as mere bread, just like he hid as a mere babe in a feeding trough so many years ago. He is INDEED with us always, indeed.
@@ValsVersion I am unable to find any errors in my previous comment; brevity is not a requirement in making a comment; some may even characterize my words as free speech, God loving and sharing thoughts - ponder that Catholic Life and Leadership Coach?
@ValsVersion I guess everyone is entitled to a version. The mystery of God is beyond human understanding. However, many need theological extrapolation because their faith is as small as a mustard seed. God works in mysterious ways and who are we to "judge" His methodology. Love others as yourself.
@@fddooley1 Interesting that you make a theological extrapolation to claim people who make what you refer to as a theological extrapolation as having a small faith. Perhaps you may wish to ponder a bit more. Without "theological extrapolation" there is no bible, no church, no knowledge of good or evil, and no understanding, and certainly no ability to deduce who Jesus IS. The primary commandment is not love of neighbor, it is love of God first and foremost. Love of neighbor follows ONLY after that. There is a priority to love God first because to do otherwise is to raise love of neighbor to a religion in which the neighbor is made god. In the love of neighbor religion, one makes truth telling to the neighbor relative, it all depends on what the neighbor claims as truth, not what truth is. God's ways can be mysterious and can also be made quite plain: male and female He made them, for example. Many things can be clearly known about God and His purposes by merely looking and observing the design and the purpose of the design. Male and female have complimentary parts, which when rightly used produce offspring. Quite clear. The size of one's faith has nothing to do with theology, nor extrapolation from theology. However, the greatest of saints were in essence very deep theologians and did indeed extrapolate deeply into the Divine nature, and in so doing achieved union with God not often known by many others. All prayer, and the entire Christian life, do, in fact, in their essence, require extrapolation from theology as you call it. Perhaps what you meant to say was that you disagreed with the nature of the Christian life that I mentioned, and the need to offer oneself in imitation of Christ. Best wishes!
Bishop Barron, you have explained things so very succinctly, where have you been all my trials. I wholeheartedly agree. Typology is the crucial element to appreciating the reverence transitioning the Old Testament into the New Testament. Why the priests don’t bring this precious food to their sheep is so lamentable.
I really appreciated your reflection on Bishop Barron’s talk. The question of true and proper worship is so important to the Christian life, including, of course, public worship, but also the day-to-day conduct of our lives and our relationship with God. It is interesting to think of the Christian faith through the lens of worship. By the way, Ignatius press will be publishing a new RSV - Catholic Edition study Bible, including the Old and New Testaments. Scott Hahn was the primary editor of this study Bible. Also, the conference of Catholic Bishops of India approved the English Standard Version (ESV)of the Bible for use by Catholics in their country, which includes the apocrypha. I believe you can purchase this edition at the Augustine Institute.
This was my 1st time to listen to your video. Very exciting referencing the mountain as Eden. This idea seems to permeate the Bible. Even the rebellious way the people post flood built the Tower of Babel to ascend on their own terms to the 'divine'. The Divine Council world view explores this idea more with Psalm 82. Michael Heiser's Old Testament scholarship and work reflects this mountain location idea. And several time in the NT Jesus goes up to 'the mountain'. How wonderful our God is and praise to The Lord Jesus the Messiah.
Evangelist here. Hello? The great commission. Thanks and many blessings. Almost all of the liberalizing of the Bible has been done in the last 200 years. Before that repentance was a one-time act. Looking at the Word of God as something we can question and liberalize is wrong. That is like saying my goal for school is going to be getting a D in every class instead of setting the goal of getting an A in every class. Set your goal to be Holy.
This isn’t new discovery by Father Barron, though he says it well.. Much of this is what I teach my kids in CCD (Catholic Sunday school). I recommend John Bergsma
Very good explanation by Bishop Barron! I too have enjoyed studying typology in the Bible. It helps make sense of the events in the New Testament. The New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. It is fascinating how it all comes together. The passover ritual of eating the unblemished lamb is brought to fulfilment at the Last Supper when Jesus makes Himself the passover Lamb for us to consume in the Holy Eucharist. This is why we say in the Mass after the consecration "Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world have mercy on us".
The right worship is not the incense per se, it’s the offering of sacrifice. During the liturgy, we participate in that offering which can/should include our sufferings united to Christ on the cross (see Col 1:24).
Thank you so much for this enlightenment 👏 I humbly request that you put writings we can read. I am from Africa and sometimes the accent is too much for us. Thank you once again 👏
Enjoyed! I appreciate the gentle, peaceful conversation, and theological truths for all. Subscribed. Regarding “the thing with the smoke”😂. So in a Catholic Mass at certain moments it’s a ritual and it makes visible the reality of reverence before the altar and the rising of prayers to God. It is of course not magical. It’s a ritual that in the visible or sensible (smoke and smells) the invisible is revealed. It points to the bringing of our collective prayers before the Throne of God (Rev 8:3-4 for one example). It’s another of those moments where you can see that scripture permeates the Catholic Mass if you are open to that idea. Peace and blessing!
The tool swinging back and forth is called the censor. I think the person doing the generalized transporting and swinging is the thurifer and might be accompanied by a boatman, who carries the incense. The censor is handed off to a priest or deacon who incenses the parishioners, alter, Easter candle, etc.
The smoke thing is a thurible and the smoke represents our prayer and praise rising to heaven along with how much incense was used throughout the Bible
@@tjseaney_ The spiritual meaning of incense is also to purify and cleanse: The practice of burning incense sticks has a dual purpose, purifying and cleansing the energy of a space. It is said that the fragrant smoke acts as a spiritual broom, eliminating impurities and creating an environment that is sacred and conducive to spiritual connections and experiences.
@@tjseaney_ Moreover, that's a direct reference to the Book of Revelation, which is largely a depiction of the Catholic liturgy. If you're ever so inclined, dig into Revelation for a week and then attend a Mass that weekend. Scott Hahn talks all about his experience of this exquisitely.
Wonderful! Continuing forward, isn't the entire Book of Hebrews a call to right worship? How else can Revelation 21:9 and following be described other than the ultimate liturgy of right worship?
@@tjseaney_ the theme he is speaking about "extending the garden" is a central idea behind temple theology. The Catholic component to that could be found in authors like Dr. Steven Smith. The real name behind the theology is Dr. Margaret Barker. She is not Catholic but a universal source for the material.
A very good post and commentary. This is the utmost way of living as Christians. By the way, what is the version of King James Bible you were using? Does it has commentaries? @@tjseaney_ ah, I see. I just came across this video and just assumed you were Catholic. Thanks for the answer, but please forgive me pushing for more specific detail. That red one you used, is that nkjv or esv, and which publisher is that from? As as for a Catholic translation, one of the most standard translations used these days is the RSV2CE. There is a very popular study NT by Ignatius press called the "Ignatius Catholic Study Bible" with solid notes and study material, but it is just the NT. After more than decade in the works, they are about to release the full Bible with study notes and all in oct/nov. It's available for pre-order. There are other translations I could recommend, but I mention this one, in this particular edition, because of the study notes and material are pretty good if you're interested in the Catholic understanding.
There is no Christian Faith without the Vatican. Schisms in the Church were wanted, by the British Empire, to help to control the emerging world order. This has always been a consistent thorn in the side of Vatican power, when they want something. If this weren't the case, Martin Luther might've been burned alive for being a dissenter. Instead, they made him "eat worms", Henry VIII protected the Catholics, but later removed the Cardinals from the House of Lords, and created the Church of England. The Great Reformation. Now, it will be the "Synod" or the "Synodal Way", and this is the Vatican being forced into British World Governance, when they might rather not be that far to the left, or actually in charge of any supposed governance.
Yes, I love typology as a way of studying Scripture! Scripture is not just the words on the page, but the Logos, which is everything God spoke into existence. He speaks to us through the things He has made, and if we watch Scripture just as deeply as we read it, we see so much more! In the cool of the evening, God visits Adam and Eve in the Garden to walk with them and talk about how the day of stewardship went (you kind of have to read that into the passage where God visits Adam and Eve after the Fall, and they know He's coming, because that's the daily routine, so they hide). But meeting with Him daily and talking about your day with Him is part of His design. And in the wilderness after the Exodus, He comes to them by material means, in the pillar of cloud and fire, in the manna, in the Ark. When the Ark is first brought to the Temple, a glory cloud signals His physical presence there. He has always intended to walk alongside us in some physical way. And then of course, Jesus comes, in person. But then He leaves... (!) In John 6:62, Jesus is preparing His disciples for the time He will leave. He says that He is going to ascend to the Father, and He intends to leave His spirit inside us. How will He do this? "It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is useless," He says. If you read that as blunt Middle-Easterner talk, it could be He's saying, "without a spirit in it, the body is just a piece of dead meat." Then at the Last Supper, Jesus, dressed in ordinary clothing, about to go to His death, looks very ordinary. Yet if you gaze long enough, you realize the King is talking. The one who said "Let there be light", and there was light, says "This is my body." The King speaks, and His word... makes reality. He effects what He speaks. Then the King gives a command: "Take and eat." After His resurrection, the King sends us out into the world. The tabernacles in historical, apostolic churches are gold boxes (or cylinders) for a reason. The manna in those tabernacles is no ordinary manna. The fulfillment of a type is always greater than the foreshadowing. The presence of God goes out of those tabernacles and inside of us. When we leave Mass or the Divine Liturgy, we are arks bringing Him into the world. There's no end to what can be gotten out of reading with a typological mindset. When I read with a typological mindset, I keep coming back to ideas like, "matter matters", He didn't create all the other amazing things in Creation for nothing, and His name is I AM, the font of being itself. And I keep finding more and more. Thanks for this video, and no, I didn't think of Eden as a mountain before, either! Great insight, thank you for passing it on, and thank you for pondering with us!
No, bad teaching. However right the direction may be: He tries to push us towards it instead of making up an invitation and paintig our what there is to be gained. And then let people decide... And what would this be, if not flourishing. I think, he is contradicting himself Because who is there to tell if he or she is flourishing or not, if not the individual person himself or herself? This contribution does not solve any problems I am afraid. Of course, people try following the wrong direction and eventually cut out critical questions. But again: Why is this? Is it because they deliberately chose to go wrong??? No. It is because they do not see the alternative. If there is any. But if there is an alternative, should we not ask ourselves how to make it visible instead of rejecting those, who did not see it by now?
people that are in most need of mercy will never get there through Bishop Barron, with his flamboyant vocabulary. and his two thousand dollar cost of conferences - if your not in his wheelhouse as far as money, vocabulary, and well knowledged of his use of men like CS lewis and Newman, your fruit isn't on his tree,
Hi Brothers and Sisters in Jesus. I feel completely in harmony with God when I offer every little and big thing of my life: I offer Him every day of my hard work, every smile I share, every sacrifice I make. Everything is a little contribute to the construction of the kingdom of God on earth. I also believe that all our ancestors' s lives and sacrifices served the same purpose. We are one body in Christ and we receive Him in the holy sacrament of the Eucaristia.
I’ve been thinking about this….when Jesus is crucified in Matthew 27:51 how it talks about the veil of the temple being split from the top down…but is there another meaning….
Incense has been used in divine liturgy for thousands of years and is mentioned in the Bible in several places, including the Psalms, the Book of Revelation, and the law of Moses. Incense has multiple purposes and symbolic meanings, including purification, sanctification, and representing prayers rising to God: Psalms Psalm 141:2 says, "Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight: the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice". This verse is often repeated in Orthodox church services when incense is offered to God. Book of Revelation In the Book of Revelation, incense symbolizes the prayers of the saints in heaven. For example, in Revelation 5:8, "Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones". Sanctification and purification Incense is used to sanctify and purify holy things and things used for worship. For example, in Eastern Rites, the altar and sanctuary are incensed at the beginning of Mass while Psalm 50, the "Miserere," is chanted. Incense is often made from frankincense and myrrh, which have a warm, spicy, and slightly citrusy aroma. As the priest swings the censer, the smoke fills the sanctuary and wafts out to the worshippers. Holy Smokes: Why the Incense? You should definitely check out Jonathan Pageau on the Garden of Eden. And I also recommend his brothers book, Matthieu Pageau "The language of creation". The idea that Eden is a mountain is actually not new.
Swinging of smoke. As in ancient times incense is used to honor the Holy of Holies; the altar if sacrifice; and to symbolize our prayers being lifted to God
Roman Catholics should steer clear of King James Bible as it was specially commissioned for the Anglican church, having excluded seven books from the Old Testament.
And who were these men from all over Europe - these highest scholars with unmatched expertise in Ancient Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Aramaic and the history of classical and ‘primitive’ civilizations - that spent years so committed to the enterprise of translating as perfectly as possible the Scriptures into the English tongue once and for all time - so that Christians could read and understand the Gospel and become better Christians as was God’s will via the living Word? I’ll tell you who - ROMAN CATHOLICS WHO HAD HAD ENOUGH OF THE APPALLING ABROGATION OF DUTY , PERVERSION, AND THE FLAGRANT SELLING OF INDULGENCES BY THE POPE AND HIS MINIONS IN FINEST SILK GROWING EVER RICHER AND MORE POLITICAL POWERFUL OVER A RAVAGED AND FAMISHED PEOPLE. The failure to understand that ALL those who broke with Rome were devout and committed Catholics by those proud divisionist RCs of today is beyond sad. The RC Church has improved - found back its Holiness and Mission by Christ since getting what was much deserved. We are all mere men. We all screw up. The RC Church screwed up not through GOD obviously - but through men. Same is true of ALL Churches and churches - which are targets and hot beds for demonic forces. On the other hand: the RC Church prior to the Reformation had truly Holy and wonderful saints - men and women of holy orders who were exceptional… Obviously still do in Bishop Barron and many others. Same is true in just about every serious Church or church or hut on every single continent committed to the Right practice of Christ according to the Scriptures. Now listen to me: The only way that half this Earth of devout and sincere Believers - the modern saints - worship the rightful and perfectly correct God is because of the KJV Bible you choose to condemn (because you have fallen for proud lies). If ALL the writers were Catholics and the King (by Almighty God) whose name adorns the cover was extremely Roman Catholic - what is your problem? Six books which change NOTHING of the message of the Bible whatsoever? Sorry brother - I implore you to read again about the true history of the creation of that most Holy translation of that most Holy Book And how it has led to the unification of ALL believers on all continents before Christ. Sectarianism is a dead duck. Great goodness and great waywardness exist on all sides if we permit ourselves to be proudly denominational and so take our eye of the ball and the goal. We are One Church. I am NOT advocating for any changes to the Holy RC Church - I am merely saying that Christ will make the decision of whom He chooses to follow Him into heaven by an even Higher seat than Rome. Love across the ramparts from A Gafcon Anglican (traditionalist Church or England that was) who cares only about being a devout servant for Christ in all things. God Bless us all. 🙏
@userJohnSmith i have a good knowledge of history. I know well that the KJV was not the first English translation. And for your own understanding, I use the NIV - and I am happy to use MANY versions concurrently … I am not the one with blinkered understanding here... Look- whether you can swallow your pride enough to think about it or not, The Anglican Church for all its Catholic imperfections once upon a time did a sterling job of spreading REAL Biblical Christianity, often at great cost and suffering, via the KJV, to Australasia, Polynesia, to China and the far east, Japan, India, Malaysia, Burma, Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, Rhodesia, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Liberia, back into Egypt and Morocco, Algeria, much of the Arab and Islamic world (…still even now!) … Hawaii, Bahamas, the USA (when you consider properly!!!), Canada, Mexico, Central and South America such as Chile… Now, don’t mention it - you are most WELCOME, fellow Christian BROTHER… But please do stop your ‘proud’ denominational, self-righteous hatred before you have an ulcer. You may indeed believe that when you enter the pearly gates Roman Catholics are the only souls you will see. … No C S Lewis! But I think you need to leave these matters to Christ. You may be surprised.
Apoc. 8:3 “Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne.”
Hebrews 12:22-24 KJVS But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, [23] To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, [24] And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
I believe in one God Almighty, The Heavenly Father our Savior, The only Son of Our God Jesus Christ. Bishop Barren please pray for all the word from The Holy people of God and his children and all the politicians on Earth to distinguish between The God Almighty Lord Jesus Christ and the evil. Amen. 🌟❤️🔥✝️🕊🙏❤️
The child is at peace and able to grow, as intended by God, as long as he/she is not yet able to choose. "But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a child quieted at its mother’s breast; like a child that is quieted is my soul" (Psalm 131:2." The child begins to rebel when it learns to say "no". Then no one has peace until it becomes capable of learning how to choose properly.
Does anyone know his sources on the Jewish tradition of Adam's mission being to spread the Garden of Eden to cover the whole world? I love that and would like to read more on it.

He is not speaking about particular forms of Catholic or any other form of Christian worship but WORSHIP of God, of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. However, we as Christians do that is actually less important than placing the LORD at the centre of our lives and not ourselves. Thus, it is fundamental Christian and Catholic discipleship he is speaking about. Evangelisation follows from this basic personal relationship with Jesus of course. We all must obey the great commission to go make disciples. "The Church exists to evangelise." Evangelii Nuntiandi.
He is CONTRADICTING himself. Because what is flourishing if not flourishing for myself (in first manner)? And who is to tell, if I am flourishing, if not myself? What is he critizising? A selfish me, a ruthless me? I am critizising myself all the time. A person seeking just for pleasure will be critizising himself for that soon... No. This not the problem. The problem lies in the cause that make people rely on pleasure. Instead of relying on...what? However right the direction may be: He again is only trying to push people towards it. Instead of providing the invitation..

I don't think he meant that at all by proper worship. I believe what he is saying is don't make yourself your own God by choosing your will as the focus of your devotion (worship). The knowledge of good and evil represented by the apple was deciding for yourself what is good or evil ie following ones will. Rather follow God's will which is not based on prohibition, but on what is truly best for you in His wisdom. Evidenced by the permission vs prohibition. He gave us everything. In restricting us to His will its not tyranny, but one more instance where He is giving us what is ultimately most worthwhile and to our own benefit. Our own choices only need to sorrow, injury, and chaos.
@@josephodoherty7864 And yet, so it is. Nahar, Hebrew for river, is na-har, this mountain (har is mountain, hari or ari is lion). But also nahar, river is n-har. N in Hebrew is the letter called Nun. A Nun is a fish or snake, a.o.. Nun-har or snake/fish-mountain (snake for river, and fish associated with seas or lakes, lake-mountain or mountain-lake, which require a depression). Le in Hebrew is orifice, mouth, crater and is associated with volcano-mouths, volcano-lakes. The Hebrew Bible, relating different parts of the books, is full of anagrams. Hashem (H-S-M, God), is Messiah (M-S-H), is Moses, or Moshe (M-S-H), all bringing some form of (medicinal) salvation semh (S-M-H). Their stories are related thusly. This same method (polyglot wordplay) is a clue to the puzzles in the Bible. El backwards is Le, crater. The mountain of God, is the mountain of the letter L (pronounced el -God- or le - crater). Besides, the parables in gospels explicitly state hundreds of times the location of the Garden of Eden. The language you need to translate the Gospels into to discover this location is Ancient Egyptian + carefully examine all synonyms or words and see how they overlap (the clue for Ancient Egyptian was that Jesus travelled to, lived in and came out of Egypt and in some Jewish ancient lore was also called 'the Egyptian'). I discovered The Garden of Eden in 2017. My YT channel details some aspects of this find. You can go there and visit Adam, Eve, Abel, Cain, the snake, the tree, the transfiguration, the engraved commandments, the Arch, the second lion (brother of the sphinx, his Aker twin at the akhet (horizon), and God.
I must say, I never thought of the Garden of Eden in quite that way.
Evangelizing includes teaching to respect God’s Creation🙏

In the Catholic Church, the Eucharist is not the spiritual presence of Jesus, it is Jesus body, blood, soul and divinity. I can’t understand how anyone can read John 6 and not see that Jesus meant exactly what He said.
John 6:63 Jesus clears up your confusion. The bread and wine are bread and wine , they are not God , they are not to be worshipped , they are just eaten and drunk as if they are bread and wine. Symbolic Yes and in no way any less important to Remember what He Has DONE once and for ALL
To put Christ back on the alter in a bloodless reenactment is not only useless but an insult to Jesus.
@@brucewmclaughlin9072
While they were eating, Jesus took *BREAD,* said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, “Take and eat; *THIS IS MY BODY"*
Then he took a *CUP* , gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you,

Jesus died once and for all and to have a reenactment in a bloodless way on the alter is an insult to Christ as you re-crucify Him for what He has done once and for all.

I love your content, and I learn so much from your comments and observations on Bishop Barron’s discussion’s on the Bible. ❤✝️🌈
Could you imagine if the whole world became honest and fervent Catholics and revered the early church fathers and the sacraments and prayed, and we had a full year of no sin, what a year that would be for the world
Jesus did!!
May GOD bless and keep us all.🙏🏽✝️
Impossible. That's why we need Jesus.

Thank you for a great video!
Love listening to Bishop Barron🕯🕯➕🕯
I hAve purchased Bishop Barons Word on Fire Bible (4 volumes) and I can't exaggerate the blessing it is being to me BB's commentary is all through it. And it is the most beautiful Bble I have ever owned with works of art spread throughout.
I have them and they are beautiful. Make reading and studying the bible a joy and blessing.
Thanks for sharing!
They are beautiful. I also find the church fathers commentary both new and old also edifying
I think they are great too, but I'm really have become discouraged with Barron's teachings
(A) Barron only teaches to those that can comprehend is flamboyant vocabulary
(B) those who are familiar and well versed in the ideology of CS Lewis, Newman, Ignatius, church Fathers and many more
(C) those that can afford his bibles, and books
(D) Barron's holding a "Good News Conference" in Milwaukee end of this month the cost for person and hotel is 2k. The cost for a couple to attend with airfare would be close to if not over 5k.
I wish we could pass the blessing on to all people not just one demographic. Barron's not at all doing that, he's not leading people to Christ. He's making Catholics feel good about being Catholic. Please pray for our church.

Bishop Baron is amazing. I also love seeing protestant brothers approaching Catholicism with sincere interest and honesty. God bless your journey.
Thankyou for a brilliant piece of Bishop Barron. I never tire of learning another theological view on an article of faith or scripture. T.
The youth seem to agree and are flocking to the Latin Mass. The proof is in the pudding, so let’s see how things develop!
Amazing insight. Keep up the good work.

Dr John Bergsma explores this overarching concept of worship in great depth and explains it so well in 'Bible Basics for Catholics'. A great read.
Thanks I’ll check it out.
He's an excellent apologist

It's called Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Jesus is present in the Eucharist in body, blood, soul and divinity.
Interesting new (old) take on Eden. Some of what Bishop says made me think of the rousing spiritual “Go Tell It On The Mountain.”✝️
(A) those that can comprehend is flamboyant vocabulary
(B) those who are familiar and well versed in the ideology of CS Lewis, Newman, Ignatius, church Fathers and many more
(C) Barron's holding a "Good News Conference" in Milwaukee end of this month the cost for person and hotel is 2k. The cost for a couple to attend with airfare would be close to if not over 5k.

@@richardcowart3227 Things aren’t always as they seem…
1) Scholars/Learned persons tend to use “flamboyant” vocabulary.
INCLUDES:
Three (3) days of attendance at all general and breakout sessions;
Two (2) Masses (assume free);
Two (2) nights accommodations;
Two (2) dinners at the hotel;
Two (2) continental breakfasts at the hotel.
That may give you some type of euphoria for a few hours, but not something that intellectually and spiritually educated you and an experience that will be with you forever :)
I get it, I wouldn’t be able to go to it either $$$$; therefore, not meant for me to attend.
The older you get you realized the importance is God, Family and neighbor, which is sorely lacking in our culture since the 60s.🙏🏻
It’s my cross I’m embracing and thanking Jesus every day for giving me the opportunity to suffer and to offer it all up, become closer to Him by detaching from this crazy world, and learn to work on virtue.
@@richardcowart3227I disagree. Bishop Barron is sharing the news right here. No need to attend or be in that audience.

Please do more on Catholic typology. The Ark of the Covenant as prefigurement of Mary comes to mind.
Awesome! Thanks for the recommendations. I definitely need to get a Catholic study Bible. That RSV would be a great addition.

I appreciate you, too, Mr. Seaney...

That's it? Why don't you unpack it some more?
Thanks you for this post and
Bishop Barron got this insight from talks with Jonathan Pageau. Pageau is a great source of insight.
Beautiful, great find.
I appreciate this so much, but I wish we could have heard more of what Bishop Barren was saying...
The right worship is not the incense per se, it’s the offering of sacrifice. During the liturgy, we participate in that offering which can/should include our sufferings united to Christ on the cross (see Col 1:24).
You are very right, and also to Mount Calvary with Jesus Christ
Thank you so much for this enlightenment 👏
I humbly request that you put writings we can read. I am from Africa and sometimes the accent is too much for us. Thank you once again 👏

" theological truths" is a contradiction of terms. it's an oxymoron.
The smoke is from burning incense which is sweet smelling resin from a tree and is a ' sweet aroma to the Lord'.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Brilliant : )
It's nice to see Temple theology taking root in the Church once again.
Can you enlighten me on what you mean by temple theology?
@@tjseaney_ the theme he is speaking about "extending the garden" is a central idea behind temple theology. The Catholic component to that could be found in authors like Dr. Steven Smith. What edition of the Bible are you reading in this video? Like, which translation and which publisher? Thanks.

I must say, its good to hear a Catholic priest addressing lay people as brothers and sisters.
A Catholic here, the priests address the people brother and sisters all the time :). They call us brothers and sisters, we call them "father".
BTW, a bishop is a priest.
Bishop. Not priest
.
But a priest isn’t a bishop,
Which is why we address a bishop as a bishop and not a priest. Even though he is both.
Priests start their sermons with dear brothers and sisters.
It's common for them to refer to Laity as such.
The smoke is called incense. Like from the Old Testament. . A visual and olfactory way of sending your prayers/worship to God
Except our prayers aren't "sent" per se: they are carried up to God in heaven by the Angels and Saints.

Good!
If you read that as blunt Middle-Easterner talk, it could be He's saying, "without a spirit in it, the body is just a piece of dead meat."
Then at the Last Supper, Jesus, dressed in ordinary clothing, about to go to His death, looks very ordinary. Yet if you gaze long enough, you realize the King is talking. The one who said "Let there be light", and there was light, says "This is my body." The King speaks, and His word... makes reality. He effects what He speaks. Then the King gives a command: "Take and eat."
After His resurrection, the King sends us out into the world.
I highly recommend a book "Crucifixion to Creation" by Fr James Mawdsley on the Catholic Mass being foreshadowed in the Old Testament.
Incense is used as a symbol of our prayers going to heaven. They used incense in the Old Testament
You will understand what Bishop Barron is saying if u do BIAY with Fr. Mike Schmitz. It’s on line
Good teaching, father thank you
No, bad teaching. However right the direction may be: He tries to push us towards it instead of making up an invitation and paintig our what there is to be gained.
And then let people decide...
And what would this be, if not flourishing. I think, he is contradicting himself
Because who is there to tell if he or she is flourishing or not, if not the individual person himself or herself?
This contribution does not solve any problems I am afraid.
Of course, people try following the wrong direction and eventually cut out critical questions. But again: Why is this? Is it because they deliberately chose to go wrong???
No. It is because they do not see the alternative. If there is any.
But if there is an alternative, should we not ask ourselves how to make it visible instead of rejecting those, who did not see it by now?
We are called to be Priest, Prophet, and King coming out of our baptism. Thanks for the video.

Incense has been used in divine liturgy for thousands of years and is mentioned in the Bible in several places, including the Psalms, the Book of Revelation, and the law of Moses. Incense has multiple purposes and symbolic meanings, including purification, sanctification, and representing prayers rising to God:
Psalms
Psalm 141:2 says, "Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight: the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice". This verse is often repeated in Orthodox church services when incense is offered to God.
Book of Revelation
In the Book of Revelation, incense symbolizes the prayers of the saints in heaven. For example, in Revelation 5:8, "Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones".
Sanctification and purification
Incense is used to sanctify and purify holy things and things used for worship.

Now listen to me:
The only way that half this Earth of devout and sincere Believers - the modern saints - worship the rightful and perfectly correct God is because of the KJV Bible you choose to condemn (because you have fallen for proud lies).
If ALL the writers were Catholics and the King (by Almighty God) whose name adorns the cover was extremely Roman Catholic - what is your problem?
Six books which change NOTHING of the message of the Bible whatsoever?
Sorry brother - I implore you to read again about the true history of the creation of that most Holy translation of that most Holy Book
And how it has led to the unification of ALL believers on all continents before Christ.

Now, don’t mention it - you are most WELCOME, fellow Christian BROTHER…
But please do stop your ‘proud’ denominational, self-righteous hatred before you have an ulcer.
You may indeed believe that when you enter the pearly gates Roman Catholics are the only souls you will see. … No C S Lewis!
But I think you need to leave these matters to Christ.
You may be surprised.
@userJohnSmith Alright, John - have it your way. God Bless you on your path Home.

The smoke is to imitate the prayers of the elders' (saints) that rise like smoke to the throne which is found in the Book of Revelation. I think.
