    Brilliant explanation. I can personally testify to this...a little over a year ago, type 2 diabetes and inflammation so severe, that at 56, I couldn't lift my right arm up to shoulder level. Had knotty knuckles and toe joints, constant back ache and "tendonitis" in my wrists so severe, couldn't make a fist. Fast forward to May 2021, last labs showed A1C at 5.0!!! Everything has resolved and yes, no noticable joint swelling except for a bit of lingering, intermittent "tendonitis", all from keto, then carnivore. Dr. Cywes is my hero.

      I also have EDS (hyper mobility type). Was on high dose oxycodone for over 20 years. It wasn’t until I went paleo keto that I could get my inflammation managed enough to get off the drugs. Best decision of my life. Unfortunately, by the time I did get off the drugs, I was left with permanent hypothalamic damage. My advice to anyone that has chronic pain and/or musculoskeletal issues is to get rid of the dairy, grains, soy, sugar. I ultimately landed at keto carnivore. This is where I feel my best.

    When I fast for a few days or go very low carb for a period of time, the swelling and pain in my fingers and hands subsides and goes away to the point where I can make a nice tight fist and I have no joint pain I feel very good and all my skin clears up. When I start to eat carbs and sweets again, it all eventually comes back. What he says is true. I'm 51 and feel decades younger due to fasting/keto.

      I’m on day 5 of an 8 day water fast reset and I feel amazing. Carpel tunnel pings gone. Hip pain gone. I’ll be 40 in a few months and I feel amazing. I truly believe a fasting lifestyle, of any sort, is crucial to my health. When I feel this way, I can’t fathom eating sugar again. But I usually talk myself into it, and have to start again with another reset. Carb addiction, indeed.

    Dr. Cywes you give the real scoop in just a few minutes on a very arcane subject, for most of us. It's a miracle! Because of your excellent videos on carb addiction I was able to easily go full on KETO pescatarian from vegan. Started losing weight immediately. I weighed about 151 two months ago. Now at 141. I'd like to be 135. Pretty nice figure for a 74 year old. But most of all I'm energetic, pain free, almost boisterous with vigor! I’ve been low carb for years, 30g max most of time and usually only from berries and I count the carbs in cauliflower, asparagus, etc and even shun oxalate heavy plants and rarely consume PUFA’s. After my labrum surgery last summer my shoulder froze so who knows , maybe it would have all been worse on a standard processed diet. Nothing worked except a rather involved manipulation.

    Thank you Dr Cywes. Several of my problems I now know are related to sugar....or more so, carbs. I love bread which is so addictive. I am 70 and on no medications, reasonably fit and healthy and only a few kilos overweight. But I do love carbs. I have noticed that when I have fewer carbs that the lumps on the palm of left hand which I think now may be Dupuytrens Contraction, & although had it for several years my hand, is normal. No contraction. Sounds like Glycolisation. ( or however spelt) from this video. I have listened to a lot of your videos now and understand health a lot more. I will now go low carb and do intermittent fasting to improve my health. I live in Tasmania Australia. My husband & I do a lot of fishing which I know is one of your favourite meals. We have our own fruit trees, berries and vege garden so will have to grow less, or at least grow low carb foods. And we buy fresh eggs from a neighbour. I have many more videos to listen to and notes to take. Thank you so much for all your good work.

    Over the years I have had a frozen shoulder, bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, and Dupuytren’s contracture. None of my physicians ever mentioned a connection to diabetes or insulin resistance. Had an eye exam over a year ago in which the opthalmologist questioned potential diabetes, which my physician said I didn't have. As a nurse, I decided to do some research, discovered the Kraft Test, keto, and Dr Cywes! Layered meshes are used in Construction because it super-strong structure. Next time you use duct tape, look at mesh fiber network under the tape which gives duct tape its super-power. Conceptually, the term 'mesh' is a good description. Enjoying this 'sugar' series. Thank you.

    I found the answer. It's in this video: ruclips.net/video/yhpljp_v2aU/видео.html
    The treatment involves mixing collagenase (an enzyme that can dissolve collagen) in DMSO solvent and then rubbing the mixture on the affected area.
    He also says you have to apply every couple of weeks for a year or two.
    DMSO is probably easy to come by, but IDK about collagenase.
    Also it looks like there's an Rx product containing collagenase that appears to be made for this purpose called "Santyl". It's fairly expensive.

    Higher glucose without high Insulin does not seem to be as damaging as a higher insulin and a lower glucose. When diabetics keep their Hb1C low by injecting lots of exogenous insulin they have more cardiovascular damage than diabetics who inject less insulin and have a higher Hb1C. Its a balance and there is a sweet spot.If they lower their Hb1C by diet different story--they have low insulin less inflammation and less damage. The high insulin seems to be integral in causing inflammation with high glucose levels.

    Collagen is the most overlooked proteins. We don't eat enough of it, even some on keto. Bones are 40% collagen. Skin, joints, connective tissue, hair, nails etc
    Dr Cywes is absolutely right. Glucose glycates proteins damages them. Think of glycated lipoproteins also. People who eat high carbs age prematurely have a lot of wrinkles. Fructose glycates even more. Advanced glycation endproducts (AGE's)

    I should add that I can’t take NSAIDs because I destroyed my GI tract from years of use. My only means of managing inflammation is diet and cbd. And both work way better than oxycodone, sugar or carbs ever did. I’m actually healing with every bite instead of increasing damage with every bite.
    I’ve also had 20 HEDS related Ortho surgeries done. I’ve got a fully fused right wrist, a partially fused left wrist, a fully fused bilateral scaroilliac joint, left shoulder total replacement and my lost recent is a 4 month old left hip replacement. If a joint exists, it is unstable.

    My pain all over my body was reduced by 90% when I stopped all sugar and went very low carb. I use only salt, garlic and onion powder to season almost all my meat. It works for me. I hope in the next year of eating this way to heal all my body. I have been eating this way for about 7 months.

    Dr Cywes I hear u and understand but I’m so conflicted. Being a senior and having survived a heart attack and bypass surgery, I want an explanation on why the healthiest and long lived folks on the plant, think blue zones, are vegetarians?

    • @samwalker5438
      @samwalker5438 3 года назад +1

      Good question. There are several articles debunking the blue zones theory. The zones were basically cherry picked to promote the plant based narrative. Much like Ansel Keyes 7 country study. Cultures with high meat consumption were ignored. Vegetarians are not the only culture to live long healthy lives. There are documented hunter gather communities with good health. IMO the health gains are from eliminating sugar, grains, seed oils, manufactured foods. You can do this as vegetarian, carnivore, omnivore by eating whole nonGMO foods as they are available naturally with minimal processing.

    I am a thin woman and started carnivore a month ago and I'm having troubles keeping the weight on. I don't want any inflammation in my body, so I have been following the carnivore pretty closely, except I do have one shake a day with blueberries, kale, and milk, just to keep my colon clear. Suggestions to keep my weight up?

    Dr. Cywes do you have any thoughts on the sugar content of g-tube formulas? I know these patients need their calories but it just seems like hours of steady sugar water drip is a terrible solution. All the more so when the patient is obese.

    Yes, carbs cause me to swell up. It's weird that bread is worse for me than sugar, although both cause me swelling. I have also found that caffeine also causes me joint pain and stops weight loss even when I am eating full 100% keto.

    • @yamlwoz
      @yamlwoz 3 года назад +3

      Caffeine stopped me losing weight as a carnivore. I stopped caffeine a little over a month ago and fat has almost literally just fallen off me. As a post menopausal woman that came as a very happy shock.

      @@antoniadispalato2900 I'm in Australia and my butcher told me that all of our beef is grass fed. I'm 100% carnivore, and have been for 2 years. I have 1 meal around noon which is steak with either chicken or fish, usually served with some butter. My other smaller meal is usually based around eggs, sometimes with some bacon or occasionally tuna in an egg bake. Does that answer everything you wanted to know?

      I would guess yes anecdotally. A couple weeks ago l purchases some xylitol gum, not spry. The next day l was bloated and two days later l had gained five pounds. The five pounds just recently came off.
