I have the game's soundtrack modded into Risk of Rain 2, and this theme plays on the third stage 95% of the time. Really picks up the pace of going through a run
I've been thinking about the lyrics for this. The boss themes tend to get a lot more attention, but I think this shows Raiden's dual nature extremely well. At first listen, "a soul can't be cut" could be Raiden's call to stand up to adversity. As someone who's had entire limbs hacked off his body, he still gets up and fights because his soul is intact. On second listen, what if Jack is the one saying that? "A soul can't be cut"? Now it sounds like Raiden has never fully managed to remove that side of his personality, that it's still a part of him. A lot of the lyrics hint at Jack being unleashed and the violence that ensues. Considering this song plays when Raiden goes up against enemies that he's most likely about to tear to pieces, I'd say it's a fitting double-meaning.
This especially adds up when you think about Raiden literally saying "I can't deny the voices inside my brain" He's gotten to the point that of accepting that HE is jack the ripper, "were one and the same", in the songs words.

I think its really decent, but just decent. It feels like it should, a frantic and epic battle theme... But i dunno, something is missing about it that the boss themes had.

I use Ripper mode mainly to take the armor off of enemies (because of the whole passive Blade Mode thing) or for crowd control of smaller enemies. I even accidentally cut off a couple left hands while in Ripper Mode. btw I'm KodoxIC on Steam
Armstrong didn't believe in the system. He just used it to try making the biggest economic, and social reboot he could within the twisted system. It has to be this way is both of theirs because they bot think the current world is corrupt and needs to be fixed. It's just Armstrong's method would harm way more people.
I think It Has To Be This Way was a dialogue between Armstrong and Raiden. Collective Consciousness was IMO Armstrong's sardonic parody and denouncement of the song's ideas.
If you think about it, that line means a lot for Raiden as a character Its him fully throwing away his morals, his ideals, in favor of just getting the job done, burning the remnants of the "protecting the weak" goal, all the remnants that remained after Monsoon Throwing it all out, for one last fight

No, it's both Raiden and Jack going back and forth, showing Raiden's decent into madness and him giving in to his Jack The Ripper persona, finally unleashing it after locking him up for so many years. @@raivin7172 MG RAY didn’t have a pilot in Revengeance. And pilots make a huge difference to a Metal Gears performance. We saw that directly when Solid Snake used MG REX to combat the original MG RAY piloted by Liquid Ocelot. Under any other circumstances RAY would demolish REX as that’s what it was built to do. But Solid Snake is that good. And I doubt anyone in the game that isn’t Raiden, Sam, or Armstrong could run fades with a RAY that has a decently battle smart pilot inside. Or even one of the Winds of Destruction should’ve piloted Ray instead. Hell give RAY to Armstrong instead of EXCELSUS and see what happens

Him taking out Sam (a beast of a swordsman) and Armstrong (literally a human tank) is proof that he has what it takes to match Dante. Now lets pretend the yamato COULDNT use lightning fast unavoidable moves like judgement cut end and roundtrip, it can still slice through dimentions.....dante wins in weapons. as for his reaper form, dante has devil trigger lol, plus his styles would render it useless. And if raidens going against the Dmc5 dante, SIN DT, which.....everyone could very safely say dante doesnt have a chance against that. Raiden has ONE SHOT at winning, and thats if he somehow god dante to use up all his DT, suffered little damage during that, and used his blade mode to literally slice him molecule by molecule (which hes capable of doing) but even then, dantes taken hits from judgement cut and whatnot, id say dante would win this fight like 95% of the time. Raidens overall speed and battle experience would pose the greatest threat to dante tho, dantes cocky and likes to mess around (alot like jetstream sam....look where that got him)
This theme just makes you want to chose combat instead of stealth and the times I got caught were instead of annoying just epic, because I was like "You want to fight? So be it."
I feel like this is Sam's theme, before he lost his way and his arm. This theme is absent from the beggining but slowly starts playing more often in Raiden after meeting Sam. This theme is everywhere in Sam's dlc and the lyrics are very in line with his beliefs, finding the brutal truth on his own, dispensing it to those who deserve it. After Sam dies the very first thing that plays is a soul can't be cut on the air base signifying that you took on his spirit and the mantle.

I've been thinking about the lyrics for this. The boss themes tend to get a lot more attention, but I think this shows Raiden's dual nature extremely well. At first listen, "a soul can't be cut" could be Raiden's call to stand up to adversity. As someone who's had entire limbs hacked off his body, he still gets up and fights because his soul is intact.
On second listen, what if Jack is the one saying that? "A soul can't be cut"? Now it sounds like Raiden has never fully managed to remove that side of his personality, that it's still a part of him. A lot of the lyrics hint at Jack being unleashed and the violence that ensues. Considering this song plays when Raiden goes up against enemies that he's most likely about to tear to pieces, I'd say it's a fitting double-meaning.
This especially adds up when you think about Raiden literally saying "I can't deny the voices inside my brain"
He's gotten to the point that of accepting that HE is jack the ripper, "were one and the same", in the songs words.

I really like this song, I can't understand why it isn't very popular in regards to the rest of the OST.
If you're interested, the vocals of this track were done by Kit Walters, the vocalist of the Charlotte, NC hard rock band Scapegoat, but he does electronic pop-rock under the name "KIT" now (Not generally my taste, but "Hail To the King" is a pretty catchy song).
The more popular ones are the boss songs.
I think its really decent, but just decent. It feels like it should, a frantic and epic battle theme... But i dunno, something is missing about it that the boss themes had.

I use Ripper mode mainly to take the armor off of enemies (because of the whole passive Blade Mode thing) or for crowd control of smaller enemies. I even accidentally cut off a couple left hands while in Ripper Mode.

@@raivin7172 MG RAY didn’t have a pilot in Revengeance. And pilots make a huge difference to a Metal Gears performance.
We saw that directly when Solid Snake used MG REX to combat the original MG RAY piloted by Liquid Ocelot. Under any other circumstances RAY would demolish REX as that’s what it was built to do. But Solid Snake is that good.
And I doubt anyone in the game that isn’t Raiden, Sam, or Armstrong could run fades with a RAY that has a decently battle smart pilot inside. Or even one of the Winds of Destruction should’ve piloted Ray instead. Hell give RAY to Armstrong instead of EXCELSUS and see what happens

(“Righteous crimes” is an oxymoron. Crimes themselves are implied to be morally wrong, so a crime can't be righteous. These ties into Raiden, and to a lesser extent, Armstrong. Raiden is getting rid of evil in the world under the guise that he's protecting the weak.However, he's actually doing it for himself because of his suppressed bloodlust.He actively is under siege by the military for breaking the law whilst trying to do so.
Later on, Armstrong reveals that he plans to give total freedom to the American people by letting them fight for themselves. However, to get to this end goal, he first must jump start the war economy, and he plans to do so by taking children off the street and forcing them into a life as a soldier. He's committing an evil act, but justifies it because it leads to a positive end)

(Raiden and Jack the Ripper are not two separate entities. They are the same being, only Raiden suppressed his bloodlust for as long as he could. Raiden comes to terms with this bloodlust and seemingly accepts it as part of him when he uses it to push forward against Armstrong)

@Amin Allishaw Imo, both Undertale and MGR:R have their ups and downs. I currently prefer MGR:R, but that is my personal opinion. Undertale's fandom is absolute garbage, so that's quite the downside, and MGR:R has a good fanbase, although there are some iffy spots here and there...
I really liked DmC and MGR, Both were highlights of this game year for me. Everything else so far has been lackluster.
Even today, they're still pretty good. Both game deserved a sequels.

Him taking out Sam (a beast of a swordsman) and Armstrong (literally a human tank) is proof that he has what it takes to match Dante. He is faster and takes no pain from attacks, not to mention his edgy "ripper" form.
@@suri_exe personally, i think dante would SHRED jetstream sam. the armstrong feat was interesting tho, raiden did JACK SHIT to armstrong until he acquired sams sword, the murasama, which vibrates and weakens its targets molecular bonds. In dmc 4, however, dante acquired the yamato. Now lets pretend the yamato COULDNT use lightning fast unavoidable moves like judgement cut end and roundtrip, it can still slice through dimentions.....dante wins in weapons. as for his reaper form, dante has devil trigger lol, plus his styles would render it useless. And if raidens going against the Dmc5 dante, SIN DT, which.....everyone could very safely say dante doesnt have a chance against that. Raiden has ONE SHOT at winning, and thats if he somehow god dante to use up all his DT, suffered little damage during that, and used his blade mode to literally slice him molecule by molecule (which hes capable of doing) but even then, dantes taken hits from judgement cut and whatnot, id say dante would win this fight like 95% of the time. Raidens overall speed and battle experience would pose the greatest threat to dante tho, dantes cocky and likes to mess around (alot like jetstream sam....look where that got him)

I feel like this is Sam's theme, before he lost his way and his arm.
This theme is absent from the beggining but slowly starts playing more often in Raiden after meeting Sam. This theme is everywhere in Sam's dlc and the lyrics are very in line with his beliefs, finding the brutal truth on his own, dispensing it to those who deserve it.
After Sam dies the very first thing that plays is a soul can't be cut on the air base signifying that you took on his spirit and the mantle.
