the biggest challenge in this kind of music is the confusion between mixing and composing, because we compose already mixing somehow. Here you have a pre-mix, it makes easier. And the style is a kind of cliche, what gives already a solid reference of what the end result is. I would love a video where some mixing decisions are made while composing, like the gain level or cut off of a sample that doe not sound as we want for example. But is hard to compose something good and teach at the same time. The best compositions are those who will also ask more of our mixing skills, and any setting can change even the meaning of the composition. Thx for the video!
Thanks for this very good vidéo. Would it be possible to have as in other videos the sample banks used (especially surdos with a fantastic sound) ? Thanks
Welcome back mate, been waiting for new video for far too long. I was wondering if you could do tutorial, how to use reverb for trailer music? I always feel like im lacking reverb, or Im adding too much...and I cant seem to find balance between the two. Anyway, amazing stuff, thank you.
Great question! I use the channel strip EQ quite a lot, but I also like to switch things up. I find if I use the same processes over and over my production starts to stagnate. So, it's mostly an effort to introduce variety.
Hey great video man keep it up:) can you tell me from wich library these surdo drums and toms are? Its exactly the sound im looking for. And is the third layer a hit from The Forge? Many thanks :)
Hi Earthquake! The toms/surdos you hear in this song come from Keepforest Devastator Drums and Audio Imperia Decimator Drums. I would highly recommend both of these libraries if you are looking for that 'larger than life' sound. Hopefully that helps!
@@TallTreeAudio devestator drums? So you mean the "not deathmatch" one? Also Decimator is not available anymore. Instead there is Cerberus now. Do you know if they got the same patch there too?
@@earthquakemusic3923 they got rid of Decimator? That's too bad. I wasn't in love with Cerberus after hearing it in the demos. The patch I'm using from Devastator is 'Trailer Drums RR' and the hit is also from Keepforest, it comes from one of their trailer tools packs. 👍
So many great ideas here. Thank you!

Awesome video! Can you do a sidechain video of how you used the concept here? Especially the routing inside cubase etc. Great job btw!
Hey Joaquin! Thanks for your suggestion, we will include that in a future video :)

@@TallTreeAudio That's great, thank you!
Could u make a video about mastering epic trailer music
thanks for your time and sharing. Why don't you use the EQ from the chanel strip do do simple cuts?

@@TallTreeAudio I was expecting something like that :)

Perfect i suck at mixing
I assume reverb was already added prior to this stage?
I found a lot of hiss in the final mix around 4k but I guess that's to be dealt with in mastering.
Sean I miss you more than my own mother
