Krist Novoselic was able to negotiate with him and agreed to sabotage the set list by teasing but never playing SLTS and playing mostly obscure outtakes like The opening jam "Nobody knows I'm new wave" and "Mexican Seafood" which was a leftover from the Bleach recording sessions that appeared right after that tour on the Incesticide album release, along with four cover songs and other old retired outtakes and trimmed fat, a blisteringly fast and driving sounding new wave punk version of Polly and the beside off of the SLTL Single b-side space holder: one of my favorite songs written when Dave joined the band called Aneurysm. Kurt was so anti commercial avant garde and cynical and pissy some times, that just adds to his aura and legacy that was cut off way too soon and not by his own hand... He was not suicidal and was a huge financial threat to all of the people involved and surrounding him. Personally, I am pretty confident that the hit and staging of his suicide was the decision made by David Geffen's higher ups, as it was agreed by all parties, not by Krist, but he has never broken the NDE and voiced his concern regarding what he most likely is aware of as well as everyone else who stood to lose financially and be just another drummer, and Krist was labeled an opinionated spotlight stealing, active alcoholic hypocrite who was once a good friend but was simply referred to as nothing more than an annoying, interrupting and overbearing bad friend who used to do a lot for Kurt but as of then he was labeled simply as being "lately less than nothing" and as easily replaceable as Dave Grohl was. I think Kurt was aware of his fate and was helpless and alone without a soul to help him survive and divorce Courtney, gain full custody of Frances and reform Nirvana with new members. His death clause ensured that the DGC was able to cover any loss of profit and everyone else benefited financially as well.
