Now that's how you make an interval workout more interesting!!😁
Haha Definitely! 😁
This has been a well-known challenge here in Oslo, but not between these two stations! You start on the line from Sognsvann to Oslo, and run from Frøen (the last stop before Majorstuen) down to the big Majorstuen station: This is slightly downhill all the way with almost zero detours out from and into the stations. You have to be quick though because Frøen is going to be closed in a few years, replaced with the new Diakonhjemmet station a bit further up the line. It is also about 700m total distance.
Thanks for the info Terje, might have to try that as well then 😅
Frøen is on the Holmenkollen line, not Sognsvann.
Her is a video of the Majorstuen - Frøen run.

This particular challenge is definitely harder in Oslo than here in London. Mansion House and Cannon Street on the district and circle lines are extremely close, so you get more advantage from the acceleration and deceleration of the train (as well as shorter attempts, making it easier to reattempt if necessary).
If you ever find yourself in London, and you really want to beat a train by running, that's probably your best option.
The lines are also much closer to the surface, so there's less uphill right at the start.
Thanks for the info yeah might have to plan a business trip with Alfred to London then! 😁
@@goranwinblad There's also a good spot on the M4 subway line in Budapest. Easily doable.
Yes! And it has also been faked by a prominent RUclips channel
It’s going to be a Euro - tour apparently, .. then world evidently 😂
Good Luck, Have Fun!
The train gets the medal this time.
Haha yep 😅
such a fun challenge, i was on the edge of my seat! 😅
Glad to hear it was really fun to do as well 😁
Getting out of the first station was definitely hard, for this challenge it should help finding two stations that have short exit/entrance. Very good tries though!
Yeah for sure, thanks!
Seems like there is problem world wide with television companies telling the truth. Great effort and thank you for being truthful. This was very fun to watch.
Thanks glad you liked watching it 😊
This reminds me of the passage in Haruki Murakami's 'What I talk about when I talk about running'. He wants to run the original marathon route in Greece to write about it for a magazine (if I remember correctly) and they are very surprised that he actually means to do the whole thing. Apparently most of those challenges were faked back then too. Integrity is important, for the media, athletes and everyone else.
Wow, that sucks that your national TV just went and faked that :( Kudos to you both for trying it though, congratulations to you both for these times!
Thanks 😊
2:11 Pace. Wow, just wow.
I train intervals like this pretty often. I get on a tram and then push myself between stops that aren't too long or too short. It's the most fun type of training for me.
I know the video was about running but all I could think about was how nice and clean that train station was 😆
Wow!! This was just incredible to watch. Bravo to you both!!! 👏🏻🇨🇦
Thanks so much!!
From time to time I need to do this at the bus stop. In my village the stations are only a few hundred meters apart and when I miss it by a few seconds I can catch it because it can‘t drive very fast.
It‘s always a fun thing to do but I could spare the sweat in the bus before university 😅
Maybe I‘ll try this in purpose one day.
Haha cool to hear 😅
u ever got injured from this?
Testa i Stockholm!
Vilka hållplatser? Har svårt att se att det skulle vara möjligt.
@@lolvonlolipopp slussen till Medborgarplatsen eller t-centralen till Hötorget
Great effort, guys! Regardless of the end results, this was one of the most "edge of my seat" videos I've watched on RUclips. Fun idea, with great editing and pacing... I was entertained.
Thanks makes me very glad to hear 😊
His run was a lot more crowded and challenging than yours and yet he managed to score a great time! Congrats!!
Yeah for sure Alfred is a great runner and did a great run! 😁🏅
The next challenge is to come to London and race the Tube from Mansion House to Cannon Street
That was both kind of silly and interesting at the same time. Uncalled for, but yet exciting. Cool video, Göran ! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Great attempt guys !! Well done … crazy pace !!
Thanks a lot! 😊
There is a similar challenge in Dresden as well: Tram 12 does a slight curve and you can run it directly. It should be possible for runners at around 3:30min/km (depending on tourists in town) :)
I found this detour while running all tram lines here from endstop to endstop
This was really fun to watch!
Great job both of you 😁 it was fun
Thank you!! 😁
I really love the urban running like in this video and in the race you had in Moss! Super intense
Glad to hear 😊
Fun video! Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Maybe I'll try that with my local bus ;-) Great video, really enjoyed it. Well done both!
You should was a fun challenge, thanks 😊
Well done Goran , loved it , definitely wouldn’t trust anything on main stream media ❤
Wow!! That was a crazy competition 😲You guys had to run through the streets, traffic and people, multiple turns! You were both faster than the train👍
Awesome footage! I really like how the head cam looks like the view of a giant trying to escape from society.🧐😅👍🏾🙏🏾🫡🫀🏃🏾♂️🏋🏾♂️🚴🏾♂️
Haha glad to hear 😁
Nice attempts! Would be interesting to see if you could find a long distance version of this as well. I've been trying to find such a version in Stockholm. Apparently Alvik - Hagsätra takes 34 minutes station to station and is roughly 10 km on a path suggested by google maps. I'm not fast enough to be a serious contender, but would love to see an attempt.
Great video keep going
Thanks, will do!
Great video!
Thanks!
A run with a purpose😊.
Well done
Thanks! 😊
Would make a fun strava segment ^^
That’s true!
Incredible! Had me sweeting just sitting here watching you two!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good effort both of you👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you so much 😀
Running up that escalator looked scary. Imagine falling with that high speed 😮😮
Beautiful city though
It really is!
Loved this challenge. ❤
Glad to hear 😊
I would recommend to try in Budapest, on line 4 between Új-buda központ and Moricz Zsigmond kör tér. The stations are so close the train is leaving one, when it is already entering the next.
That looked so much fun
It was 😁
Fantastic content. Alfred is SO fast!!
Thanks yeah he reallly is!
Impressive attempt from you both, fantastic pace. I was stuck to the screen to see if either of you would make it.
Thanks 😊
If you fail at one stop -- go for two stops. And use the time the train has to stop in between for your adavantage
fun challenge -- good effort!
Thank you 😊
We had a cheese burger run at uni. The buss stops at both sides of a mall with a mcdonalds in the middle. So one person just bolts to the mcdonalds while the rest try to delay the bus to get some extra time.
It's rare to succeed. There has been a few known successes though.
Great fun!
Awesome video I was sitting on the edge of my seat shouting come on 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! 😁
So cool!
😁
@goranwinblad you both did great 💪congratulations 👏👏👏
Thanks 😊
You realize now that runner from all over the world are going to take up a similar challenge in their own cities as well as come to Oslo to see if they can complete the challenge. The tourism board in Oslo should pay you for this!🇳🇴🇳🇴
😅
The 800m world record is 1:40.91. Comsidering this, I would have been really impressed if you manage this!
The thing that was bad is that NRK didn't clarify it when first asked that this was for enterteinment purposes only and not actually accomplished.
While it might have been a entertainment format, it can leave a bitter taste in regards to news. What is, in current times, very important. If people start saying: "national tv faked this, why should we trust their news on politics etc.?" their whole journalistic integrity is at play.
I'm not Norwegian and therefor don't know alot. But I understand some Norwegian (easier written) and from those times i went on their website i had a good impression of them.
A similar discussion as you hinted on is currently going on here in Switzerland.
I think that the entertainment side and sports should have it's place on national tv. If this field is left out, you also don't get cultural things that make a nation/culture to people that might just earn enough to live and pay rent (also Norway has those). So you would push them out of anything besides news about war and politics.
Very nice video! Göran, you should have had a sprint map with you to avoid that "pummi"!
Haha thanks, yeah for sure! 😁
Sooo close, maybe running it the other way is easier? Nationaltheateret to Stortinget? That way it is not so much uphill, I would love to see you try it again as an Oslo local
This was a lot of fun!
Glad to hear 😊
Awesome ! :)
really nice video
Thanks a lot
That is fast running👏👏
Come to Denver, Colorado! You’ll beat the RTD train no problem! 😂
The reason why the publicly funded broadcaster is spending money creating entertainment TV is in theory to provide backing for concepts that are not commercially viable, and to provide jobs and training for domestic entertainment production. These entertainment shows also employ the same people that make news in minority languages, provide training for production roles, and in many cases fund things like classical music performances.
Try finding anyone in the Norwegian entertainment industry that hasn't had an internship, a job or at the very least worked on a contract or freelance basis with NRK. I'm not sure having every media professional be trained on the set of the Norwegian version of Love Island is preferable.
I am unfamiliar with the program in question, but it is a comedy show, not a science broadcast or competitive sports format, no? That being said, pretending not to have faked it when called out is a bad look, and probably an unnecessary own-goal by the program director.
great video! Even though 60M is more my distance, I enjoy you content alot! Why not go the other way? From Nationalteateret to Stortingent - like in the NRK video? Then you get to go down the escalators, which should be alot quicker..
Grymt!
Awesome🎉
Thanks!
That was fun
This looked a long way out of the station, i don't know the oslo metro but maybe if there are 2 sessions with easier exits. The others I have heard about are Cluny la Sorbonne to Odéon on the Paris metro and Mansion House to Cannon Street on the London Underground.
Good challenge! Who will be the next contender? :)
Yeah it was a fun challange, haha not sure but would be fun to try it in some other city and see if it’s possible!
2 min pace is so fast through town! people would have been so shocked haha its awesome tho
I think it might be possible at midnight or early morning, Alfred got way too many NPCs in his way. I wonder if he would run a bit faster knowing that he will not run into someone or run over by trafic. With those things out of the mind Göran might also be able to pull it off, I beleive.
Great attempt guys!
I'm sure without the stairs and the pedestrians, you would've aced it!
Thanks!
Class 🤣
Wacked! That was fun.
Glad to hear 😁
Awesome video! Maybe try some 400 m relays? If that doesn’t work try 200m relays 😂 passing a baton or something
3:20 Hey Vsause! Michael here
Try it in Stockholm. Swedish taskmaster did it aswell, don't know if they were called out for faking it aswell :o
Thanks for the suggestion, might have to travel there then 😅
fun challenge :-)
What a departure from the normal.
Loved it!!!!
Glad to hear 😁
You could likely make it by having a couple of late runners catching the underground at both stops. First person catches and hold for the second for five seconds or so. Now this can happen organically, but one would've thought it would have been a better method for NRK.
nice clip, by the way if you try it in Paris or Istanbul there is no chance because of the crowded metrou stations!
Thanks and thanks for the info won’t try it there then 😅
Jesus christ. I just realized how much you look like Tyrell from Mr. robot. Lmaooooo😂😂😂😂😂😂
TIL I should visit Oslo.
Spännande!
Did you consider running between Grønland and Oslo S? I think that one might be shorter if you are sure to take the right exit.
No but will check it out, might have to do another try 😊
I never caught the original Amalie Juel "attempt" and the controversy about it. 2:00 min/Km is unfathomable to me!
Guys, this was so enjoyable.
(BTW my #496 challenge starts tomorrow!)
By the title I thought you were doing "Marshall vs. the Machines" :D
Haha love himym 😁
It is doable! If the train is delayed 20 sec combined in the two station caused by a slow traffic it can be a success!
That’s true, might have to give it another go 😅
The problem is that the conditions that would delay the train would also make it harder to run through the crowd. 🤔
That pace would be really fast on the track, let alone on streets, stairs, between people. However, I don't think the Vaporflys are the best choice for this terrain. Didn't you feel unstable in the turns?
Maybe try it during the evening. It looked like the pedestrians tend to hold you up a bit?
Manfred Erlandson testade detta med tunnelbanorna i Stockholm. De här videorna är bra! 👍
Tack ok ska titta in det kanske borde testa i Stockholm 😊
@@goranwinblad Tack för att du svarade! Jag har kollat på kanalen i 3 år. Du har gett mig stor insperation med löpningen. 😄
0:05 Than you need to run 24 kph for that distance. That is sub 2 min 800 speed.
Cameraman should stay some time between doors at first station .
Haha good suggestion 😅
You should try this on the Boston T! Its service is so horrible and unreliable, and the distance between stops is pretty short.
The cojones were simply to heavy but fair attempt!
Now the question is, did you pay for your zone 1 tickets? 👀 But very fun, I'm also convinced that often my commute to work (Voyenbrua-Thune) is faster when I go running compared to taking the bus. Just depends a lot on the traffic lights!
Haha of course! 😁
Now Jakob Ingebrigtsen should try it :-D
Haha yeah would love to see that!
Who got the record on that Strava route?
We really need some data layover.
Thanks for the feedback!
I would suggest having the videos side-by-side or at least put the person on the train in a small box in the corner. That way, you can better "prove" if you actually accomplish the task, without being accused of faking.
Yeah good suggestion, but my plan was if I or Alfred would have succeeded to have a link to the uncut run as evidence it wasn't faked.
Haha awesome. I suppose broadcasting failure on live television isn’t as fun.
Good try!
Thanks!
