But OF COURSE this movie should've always been on the Disney+ catalogue. It should've been on blu-ray and DVD! And the soundtrack should've been released back in the 90s! Disney needs a wake up call!
We just watched this with my little girl today. It was a perfect Valentine's. As. 90s Filipina girl, to see Paolo Montalban as a lead was inspiring. THANK YOU for bringing this story to life!!!!
It's funny, you don't realize what's happening in the moment. Back when I was a kid watching this, I didn't realize just how groundbreaking this was. Now, to be 35 years old seeing this, it's a full circle moment considering current events with racism etc. As Brandy said, it's divine timing for so many reasons! And I'm so happy they are FINALLY giving Brandy her flowers! She deserves this career rejuvenation 1000%!!!
To me, it would have been more groundbreaking had they paired Brandy's character with a black man playing the Prince. But just like the "Princess and the Frog" effort from Disney 12 years later, they failed to show a heterosexual black couple. And for anyone who wants to ask "Well, does it HAVE to be a heterosexual BLACK couple..." why COULDN'T it be? We all know by now that Disney has zero problems showing white heterosexual couples in their projects.
Because unless a child is taught different a child sees it and doesn't question it. I never noticed. It was Cinderella, period. You just saw the magic and beautiful songs gowns and you had it playing all the time!
seeing a filipino prince really had such a big impact on me because it was finally a filipino on screen as a lead male role, not just for brains, but as a prince, a role we never see for filipinos. and having such a diverse cast just made me so happy seeing such wonderfully talented people of color was so ahead of it’s time. this movie is everything for me from when i stumbled upon it as a 6 year old to a now 17 year old
Brandy is so breathtakingly beautiful she doesn’t age at all does she brandy is a queen she deserves all of her flowers 🌸 she’s a humble intelligent hardworking talented unproblematic queen she is such a class act I love how she always stays true to who she is she has never sold her soul to the devil like some of these artists today she is always so classy and poised I love how she carries herself she’s a very good role model and a huge inspiration love me some brandy
It is the BEST live action Cinderella and live action of any Disney princess film (others cannot compare, maybe Mirror Mirror would be shortly after but this is, my absolute favourite. The whole cast is brilliant and joyous. I fell in love with the outfits and scene. I remember watching it as a child and I hope to share it with more generations now :)
My oldest daughter grew up watching Brandy as Cinderella on the VHS. Now my two youngest daughters can watch it on Disney+. I am so happy to see B-rocka get her flowers.
Todrick and Brandy singing together has been my all time biggest dream come true. ♡♡♡ Brandy is probably the first singer I fell in love with as a child. 26 now and still adore her. 😍🥰
It felt organic, despite being 'in your face' the cast all had such incredible chemistry it's becomes super easy to just not care! It just WORKS! it's something other 'multicultural' films need to learn from!
This movie was sooooo under rated it should have been in theaters everywhere this was an EPIC movie that was down played by the industry . This movie was breathtaking . I’ve watched this movie over and over with my daughter and each time I felt as if I were sitting in the front row of a beautiful theater 🎭.Just truly are a breath of fresh air.I’m so happy that I was able to share this movie with my daughter.
@@ebeth7045 I did not watch all of her movies I can only speak on this one and this one was wonderful.I still believe that this movie was under rated. Even the original Cinderella were played in theaters . But guess what Brandy is a very blessed young lady and now a whole new generation can enjoy this gift of a movie.
I remember my dad bought this as a gift to me in VHS and the amount of rewinds i did on that tape propbably was too much - this movie was just the best
Rest in Peace, Natalie Desselle-Reid. I was so grateful to sit with my granddaughter and watch Cinderella on Disney+ so she could see a beautiful Black Princess. Then I told her some of my memories of Natalie when we were in college and how proud I am of her being the gorgeous step sister in this movie. It's a shame that Disney waited so long to release this amazing movie.
Such a beautiful important project I'm so glad a new generation can enjoy and share this moment ✨✨✨ Brandy is so elegant, classy and definitely opened doors, and she is so right Whitney paved the way 👑💙✨✨✨✨
The pure growth through THIS vessel...The"Vocal Bible"...Is breathtaking! Thank You Brandy for your courage and bravery ...To be here NOW We all need THIS....From Princess to Queen
This was one of my favorite movies as a little girl. Watching it the day it came out I didn’t realize I knew basically every word in this movie. “Impossible” helped me when I was younger and even now if I felt like I couldn’t do anything. Then I remember hearing Whitney Houston’s voice singing “Impossible things are happening everyday”.
I freaking LOVED the music in this show... And I remember watching it on TV, it was a BIG DEAL. Everyone was talking about it. I'm so happy that they finally released it.
Brandy, I will be ordering Disney+ to see YOU!!! I am 54 years old. So, I've been privileged to see Cinderella in a few variations. Us girls, quite secret dreams. :) So excited to SEE YOU!!!! All the best.
My kids were young when this delightful film came out. The multi-cultural cast was heartwarming even then, although my 9-year-old daughter (who had learned about genetics around that time) wondered aloud how a black queen and white king had an Asian son. I told her anything can happen in fairy tales. I'm so glad it's getting a long-overdue re-airing.
Remember watching this while channel surfer and how I stopped everything to watch it again. It was a special Cinderella that I only knew about. Paolo as the prince and Brandy as Cinderella really hit me. I just realized that it might be because my own parents were the same.
She was really professional and didn't talk shit when they asked if Disney called her to let her know the movie was coming to Disney+. They didn't call her. They have thrown her away since the movie came out. This movie should have been on Disney+ from day 1! Disney wanted to brush this title under the rug until people started making a fuss. They were just trying to save face. You can tell Brandy was hurt by how long this took to get the attention it deserves. This movie is amazing in so many ways! It was beyond it's time and should be watched by everyone 💙
It’s crazy i remember this movie was so important for me because the prince was Filipino American and it made me feel like i could see myself. I was so excited and it made me realize it wasn’t impossible for me to be an actor. I always thought people like me were the side characters.
You know they always give their "acceptable" version of black the first opportunities. Whoopi had previously complained about Hollywood sleeping on Sister Act as well.
Okay babygirl lost weight she looks beautiful either weight. And I am so pleased to see they finally giving my Cinderella it's due same dilegence. And I neeeeed the damn soundtrack!
It was a terrible accident she was in but she was not the cause of that woman’s death. Someone hit the back of brandy’s car and it caused her to slam into the back of some woman’s car and it haunts her to this day.
The woman does NOT age! Beautiful.
But OF COURSE this movie should've always been on the Disney+ catalogue. It should've been on blu-ray and DVD! And the soundtrack should've been released back in the 90s! Disney needs a wake up call!
omg the soundtrack would've done so well! Brandy has such a unique voice! the tracks were all bops! ugh smh 😪
There is a DVD. I got mine at FYE.
Brandy is working on getting that soundtrack released
I hope she's successful, I know I've been wanting the official soundtrack for years
The soundtrack was held back bc the record labels were having pissing contests, and didn’t want to let it just be.
This interviewer was so prepared and asked such good questions! Love seeing Bran get to shine right now.

I watched on Valentine's day too❤
It’s Valentine’s Day a year later and I’m watching it solo‼️

My favorite Cinderella. I still have it on VHS. It's so good. The songs are amazing!!
I lost mine😥. I brought it with me in elementary school and someone stole it😫

All of the songs on this Cinderella movie are sooooo fantastic!!
See Sound of Music, Carousel...Oklahoma!...South Pacific....😊✌
This is literally the BEST Cinderella!! Just watched it yesterday again and the magic is even better than I remembered !!!
I like that the movie was multicultural before it was forced and mainstream. Ahead of its time
At some point Whoopie said We were before Hamilton
Whitney worked hard for making it multicultural
It felt organic, despite being 'in your face' the cast all had such incredible chemistry it's becomes super easy to just not care! It just WORKS! it's something other 'multicultural' films need to learn from!
I’ve always loved this version of Cinderella. Asian prince and Black princess!
I seriously squealed when I saw this on Disney + last night! I couldn't watch it last night, but I am having so much fun watching it this morning!!!
When I was little I was in love with the Wicked Stepmother (the lady with the big red hair) and I still am! 😅
Bernadette Peters! Broadway icon! You should look up her other work she’s phenomenal
Me too!! Vocals for daaaaaays
She was amazing!!!
lol love Bernadette Peters, she is an icon! so brilliant.
You must have seen her as Lily in Annie?!
A class act! a true contribution to American history and black history
I love this movie and brandy is stunning

All Brandy movies were, but that didn't stop them from being great. I also don't think there were many people betting on a musical back then.

I would love to see Brandy in the MCU there are so many characters she could bring to life.
Yessss give this girl some work again!
@@fataleflare idk what your music taste is but she did release an album last year that was well received. Such a voice and so beautiful and stylish.
Loved it 20 years ago and loved it even more on Disney+.
I loved this movie so much. I can't wait to watch it again.
this movie was a cultural reset. set the bar for 90s kids & beyond 💖
Such a beautiful important project I'm so glad a new generation can enjoy and share this moment ✨✨✨ Brandy is so elegant, classy and definitely opened doors, and she is so right Whitney paved the way 👑💙✨✨✨✨
how the hell does she look the same 25 years later????? crazy!!!
Everything but her eyebrows seems the same, and the '90s were awful for eyebrows. She does seem fairly ageless.
This movie hit different in my childhood and hits different in my adulthood. Had it on VHS, DVD and now on streaming 🤍
The pure growth through THIS vessel...The"Vocal Bible"...Is breathtaking! Thank You Brandy for your courage and bravery ...To be here NOW

Love this movie, my favorite real life Cinderella 😄 🥰
Aged like fine wine!
I used to go to blockbuster and rent the hell out of this movie until my momma bought me my own😂 such a beautiful film

Omg yaaaaaaasss.. i know all the friggin lyrics.. it made me a mark on me as a teen. ♡
She’s gonna b on The Voice? Yay!
Brandy will always be my favorite Cinderella.
I’m so excited it’s on Disney+!!! Their version of The Sweetest Sounds was on my lullaby CD as a child
I unexpectedly got so emotional when she spoke of Whitney 🥺💗
About damn time. I used to have to watch it on RUclips because it’s 2021 and I don’t own a VHS player!
Seriously my fav. Already streamed once. Ready for round 2. I cried just thinking of my mom and growing up with this... thank you 🙏
Brandy's Cinderella was the blueprint for Princess Tiana. The blue dress and hairstyle give it away. so glad we're giving Brandy her flowers!

One of the realest for sure. Right up there with Whitney and Janet.
How does she not age?!?!
They always take their time for black material. I thought Disney + had the entire catalog.
You know they always give their "acceptable" version of black the first opportunities. Whoopi had previously complained about Hollywood sleeping on Sister Act as well.
