Saw them live twice in the space of 3 years - first time amazing (as expected), second time they were headlining a festival and they played an acoustic set - talk about misjudgement - went down dysentery on the international space station. Always great to see Garth on keyboards though.
We'd had a hell of a journey, struggled to find a place to pitch the tents, wished we hadn't bothered, then drifted down to the main stage to hear this set. Instantly converted to levellers fans, which we've been for the last 28 years.

17 years it's been since I was front and centre for this song and even after all that time the memory is still as bright as it always was. We weren't singing a chorus to a great song that night we were chanting the battle cry of a generation. I look around now and I see a world not too different to how it was back then. Maybe we lost our dream to cynicism, maybe it's too late for us to escape the trap we made for ourselves. Don't waste your dream young ones, push the world until it gives.

I was at this festy to see the Levellers a couple of years before in 1992.....the year of the fence stopping the travellers from getting in. It was probably the best gig I ever saw, the crowd was bouncing from start to finish ✌️

I seem to recall too that this was before the bigger fences. A whole ton of people got in and I think the largest crowd ever for Glastonbury. All anyone was talking about in the lead up to it was The Levellers. That crowd size was so large, never saw one like it at Glastonbury before or since.
Probably one of the best gigs I've ever seen in my life. And I've seen everyone from the Pistols, The Ramones to Nirvana, and stadium fillersike U2 and the Stones. Timeless!

Day dreamed about them playing at our local venue and yes the dream came true. Best live band period. So much energy and connection to the audience. Saw them for the first time way back in 1992 at Leicester University and again at the Halloween Town Festival in Bedford this year. Absolutely awesome.

I was there with mates who travelled.over in a truck from Leiden in Holland squat. Managed to get into green field despite Evis. Had 3000 cans of Carlsberg Export we sold for £1.50/can and sold out first night. Financed rest of Glastonbury for us.
Had a great five or so years following them. Got called the oxford crew . Went to Paris , Busking near Notre Damn, Euro Disney when it first opened. Two coachloads travelled from London . The now wife , on top of a four high stack of friends, balancing twenty foot up with Mickey Mouse ears .Great days. unfortunately never to be repeated.
