Same exact thing happened to me on initial start....Fuel pouring out rear barrels ...had to change oil and filter. The good news is Holley's awesome Support. I told them the exact same thing -- "Brand New Holley Sniper pouring fuel out of rear barrels and intermittently showing "No data" on the hand held" ...and within 2 hours I received an email that a Brand New Replacement was being sent out. Like everything "Mass Produced" these days, there will be some bad ones....However with 1000's and 1000's of Holley Sniper EFI's being sold , you only hear of a very few instances. Even the Holley Rep told me , that it does happen but , the vast majority work perfectly.

Just helped a friend with the EXACT same issue. Brand new unit, fired up and ran for 10 sec, stalled, and dumping fuel out of the back two ports (gallon+) After seeing the amount of replys to this video with the same problem, I recommended he get his money back and use another system. Its been nearly a year since he bought it though, so I doubt he will be able too. Will have to wait and see what luck he has with Holley support.

This literally just happened to me. Thanks for the information. Dealing with an old Power Wagon and the directions are not clear for the old mopar wiring. Out standing info , I had a NEW SNIPER and it destroyed a performance 427 chevy.
I have this same issue on a manual transmission car , slugged the motor shorten rods ,damaged pistons ,washed out the bearings trashed the crank and spun bearing . All this happen In 3 to 5 minute trip, engine died I clutched the car car coasted to bottom of a hill I let the clutch out ,car restarts. This happen multiple times , the car was towed home . Contacted Holley ,blah, blah , blah like a dozen times , “ this can not happen “,they kept saying . Sent the unit back ,Holley said not defective. Then unit was reinstalled , problem happened again ,this time in my driveway.
Motor expired minutes later , yes we changed oil, but the damage was done. “
Holley said no worries prove it’s the unit.
That was in June , Holley has been sent and resent videos ,parts and the unit and they still refuse to MAN UP AND MAKE THIS RIGHT.
Holley has again requested the unit,it ships to them today.
Again I was promised by Holley’s rep they would pay for repairs. No labor just parts.
THANKS YOU MADE MY DAY. You just provided proof..

I had exactly the same issue. Freshly built 454 with some serious money spent on parts . #7 lost like 15 PSI compared to the other cylinders . Pulled it out of my truck and installed spare stock engine with a quadrajet. After 3 years i am finally getting ready to dismantle my motor and see what happened. My two other buddies had this happened to them as well. No wonder they came up with version 2 of this setup. Feel a bit sour about that but i aint no wimp. Will get that motor running again !

I absolutely love my sniper system. I'm using the hyperspark distributor, coil, and cd box too. I've never had an issue with mine... aside from a header flange leak that caused the sniper to think it was running lean when it wasn't. The sniper started to self-learn and tuned some of my cells super rich. Luckily I caught the issue and turned off closed loop and ran off of a slightly older tune. On my daily driver, my closed loop compensation flutters between 0 and -0. It's very rare to see anything over 2%. I tightened the header bolts at the head and she's been good ever since. I do wish I'd have gotten the super sniper. I'm out of injector. I didn't realize I'd go boosted when I bought my original sniper 4 years ago. I've been centrifugal supercharged for about 18 months.

This is excellent. The same thing happened to my friends Mopar 440. Flooded so bad that it filled the oil pan with gas. Had to change the oil and it hydrolocked the engine. Had to pull the plugs and spin it over. I have the same setup in a 69 Road Runner on a 383 but no issues to speak of other than an o2 sensor fail. replaced with aftermarket equivalent and no issues since. But this 440 with the same issues you have here is crazy. Thanks for posting this video. Thought it was corrupted software so went through all the steps to update the handheld, ECU and it still does it. So it has to be in the sniper itself.

I have installed 3 black Holley sniper units. All 3 were replaced because of the same issue. They sprayed the black powder coating inside of the unit. the easiest way to see is to take off the left side cap that the return fuel line connects to. then pull out the diaphragm that's behind it. You will see it has black powder coating inside of it where it is exposed to gas and it will peel. 2 of the 3 just wouldn't run after the screen on the diaphragm clogged the 3rd saw fuel pressure issues and just went WOT on me with zero throttle control, that was scary. If you have a black unit check that out, Holley replaced all mine with a brand new one but they send out a new one with the same issue. I would recommend not getting powder coated units for replacement.

Hi there, I live on the Gold Coast Queensland Austrailia and I have a 1998 Wellcraft 2600 Martinique with a 305 mercruiser V8 engine that we just finished totally reconditioning the whole thing.
We went out today after tuning it to give it a test run and noticed the screen was reading no data just like you experienced, but then it would run like shit so we stop and unplug the wire adaptor (thinking it could be a bad connection) and then the screen started working fine again so we start the engine and then on our way. We get to about 3000rpm's and the whole boat just dies/stalls.
we then unplug the adaptor and plug it back together and then fine again, so we head of again and as we were just slowly moving at 1700rpm's the motor desides to come to a sudden stop with a lock up noise so we take a closer look at the holley and notice quite a lot of raw fuel that has come out from the holley and sitting on the manilfold. We suspect hydro lockup from the fuel so we take out all the spark plugs and then try to turn the crank but still locked. I am going to take of the starter motor and try to loosen it with a screw driver on the fly wheel and hopefully that free's it up but if not it looks like motor out again and a another rebuild.
Should I call Holley and get them to replace it (and fix my motor also lol)

@@cuttersperformance I bought mine on Feb 22 2021 and didn't get it till a week later but I was excited to say the least but very disappointed when I got it hooked up and it ran very poorly and eventually stated dumping fuel out of the back 2 barrels locking my engine up and right before it locked it backfired igniting the raw fuel which as you can imagine was a scary moment for me but the key was not to panic and I grabbed an extinguisher and put it out! I was in tears and couldn't believe what had happened I thought for sure I did something wrong but seeing your story I guess I didn't. But J🥚's wouldn't help and I could never get ahold of Holley so yeah I don't know that I will buy another one of these. As I stated before I moved that wire after the next day and everything fired right up and has been fine since. I got like 400 miles on the system and its been good except for when I tried to hook up progressive link to it and set it up in the handheld and when I tried to use that program it made my engine run the same as day one so i just took that off and live with a hard gas pedal that feels like it sticks closed!

I just had the same exact problem with my Holly Sniper. It was running fine and I started the truck after sitting a few days. It ran a bit rough but I let it warm for a minute. I went to back off my lift and suddenly the truck stalled and NO DATA across the screen. I started to smell gas and when I tried to start the truck again, the engine was completely hydrolocked. I discovered massive amounts of gas in the manifold valleys and quickly disconnected power. I removed the spark plugs and gas just gushed out of a few of the cylinders. Insane amount of gas. So I’ve let the truck sit for a couple of days without the plugs hoping we can try again. The next day I also noticed the front of the sniper to be warm like current passing through it. I disconnected the ground just in case. I’ve now put plugs back in and reconnected the ground. The sniper is cold so no current. We’ll see what happens. Thanks for this video. HUGE help and I’ll likely be calling Tommy at Holley as well.

They have a quality control issue on these Snipers. They are either great or shit. I just installed one and posted my video of our experience. Owner took the car home and it's still not right. I went over there to change the plugs since i had 8 gallons of idle time on them. Started right up, sounded better but not right. Pulled the air cleaner and noticed one injector isn't firing at all. Holley wants to assume either the install isn't right, fuel pressure wrong, RFI/EMI interference or bad grounds. Been though their checklist a dozen times, and I get it. They gotta cross the common things off their list. But not once did they mention to check the injectors, or the shitty connectors on them. I stressed how I think something is wrong with the unit itself but they don't wanna hear that from me. I am 100% confident in my install. I am very particular on how I do things. We even swapped out a perfectly good MSD for a complete Hyperspark and still had issues. I had a few different issues that I resolved and seemed to cure the RFI/EMI issues which I believe was the 10 pin connector causing it. Ended up un-pinning all but the tach output and the car now runs with the air cleaner on and hood closed, but still shitty power. We will see what Holley says about the injector today. We want a replacement unit because I think the one we got from Summit was opened which raises some questions.

Hey I found this video a possible life saver, I install the whole thing by the book and I actually did it with the help of the dudes from summit racing in their app chat room and we did it perfect, but now my problem since it was installed is that there’s no way to get it to idle properly I set my plate screw one full turn, basic idle at 850, iac between 2-12% , timing the engine with a timing light and set timing to 15• and this thing keeps surging and the iac keeps sucking air like there’s no tomorrow. Now that I watch this video I realized that maybe my coil is the culprit since is literally next to the sniper is the reason this sniper is going nuts. I’ll relocate that coil far away from it and see if that solve my problem. Thank you dude and if I get stuck tomorrow would you mind give a brother a hand with this? Is just driving me crazy

Had to removed sniper main fuse to reset. Tried again and same result. While in no data mode and engine not running fuel pump did not shut off like it usually does after a few seconds. Did not notice at first. Repeated several times until engine hydro-locked. Pulled plugs and gas poured out. Cranked engine with plugs out and had engine bay fire - my stupidity. In my case the fix was shielding all the sniper wiring. Did not have rfi issue until hyper spark installed.

I let it run about an hour, never drove it. The next evening I done a cold start, while monitoring the handheld the screen froze, everything went red and cut off. The fuel pump continued running and hydraulic the engine. Fuel was everywhere. After clearing all the fuel I restarted it and ran fine again for about an hour. I hope it's not a junker too.

I have multiple sniper 650s 1250 weirdest issue I ever seen is over fueling due to reluctor wheel hitting the hall effect sensor inside the distributor cap, from that point I could grab the 3 wires coming out of the distributor pull down it would go all to hell reading lean on the lcd but it was actually over fueling, push the wires up and so the sensor stopped hitting wheel and it would run perfect , took me forever to find this changed everything twice finally got to the only possible issue was distributor an tada there was the issue hope this helps some lost soul 1 day

@@gregoryandersonmotorsports they originally told me RFI. It was probably my 5th sniper and ive installed many other fuel injection systems with no issue like this.
RFI can be an issue, and i did have rfi issues once with another sniper instal but it would cause the tps signal to randomly drop out.
In my case it would fine, them all of sudden "no data" across the screen and just just start dropping fuel out of the back injectors full blast
I changed nothing but the sniper unit out and the problem was gone, and has never returned.
You can try temporarily wrapping the sniper, coil and wiring in tin foil to reduce rfi

Snipers’s are pretty decent for $1000. The last one I put on had a weird issue where I had to extend the actual throttle linkage on the sniper itself to get more leverage so the throttle would open smoothly. Anyone ever run boost through one and are you happy with it?
