- Thanks for checking out Lex's first time hearing Eminem sing Stan. She didn't grow up as into hip hop as one might think. She found hip hop later in life.

Whoa Universe playin with Em a little I think scary shit
I agree...
But he has a pigment.. who cares ❤
Have you heard Bad Guy??? It’s Mathews reply/revenge on Em. It’s amazing
@@valeriemckenzie1380 Yeah, I swear Em is cursed like look at the Music Video Like Toy Soldiers with Proof
The original song for the hook was by a British singer named Dido. She also plays Stan's girlfriend in the video.
You got it!
The song is called Thank You. Dido is a wonderful singer.
Oh wow. I knew the original song but didn’t know the girl played Stan’s Gf in the video. That’s awesome
@@HeadlessCritic 👍 Couldn't remember the name of the song...the only Dido song I could remember the name of was white flag but I knew that wasn't the one😂
@@Bing-a-ling it's cool, I'm just a fan :D
Please never listen to another censored Eminem song 😂, give the goat justice - you only get half the words on the clean versions.
It's so they don't get demonitized.
Give the GOAT justice so they actually have to react to Rakim :P
How about you guys run the real music through your headphones while we hear the lame safe version. Cause so much of that song was was left out for it to carry it's impact.
This is just the music video. Like the official one with 414M views. It's just as annoying on the actual vid, it ain't their fault, they listen to the ones that curse still regardless, it's just the old MTV stuff that's been fucked with censoring
@@TheHipHop_Junkie you spelled Biggie wrong :)
You tube wasn’t a thing when this Music Video first came out. Our old asses actually watched MTV and waited for them to play the videos we wanted to see, lol
I remember that.... holy crap
And when the music videos were almost like mini movie productions.
I remember getting hyped when Korn, Slipknot, or other rock bands would make the TRL countdown lol
@@trippstephens6934 And mad when N'Sync and Backstreet Boys would come on lol
Micro tube vision.
The chorus is taken directly from "Thank You" by Dido. But because Dre produced, he didn't just take the sample. He hired Dido to fly to the US and sing the first verse again for them with live musicians. Dre does this - he finds samples he loves and makes a live band play them.
The song wasn't produced by Dre, but rather by DJ 45 King.
This is going to be a great new series, Lex reacts to Em videos while Brad makes the disbelief stank face.
I reccomend guilty conscience and forgot about Dre
lol
Lol
@@fumes1541 fr Album versions are always the way, no censorship and no trimming off the song
Never heard the clean version. They bleeped the whole meaning of the song. ❤
Exactly! I just don't understand why they bleeped out things that weren't even bad. With all the bleeping you can't even understand the whole meaning of the song. Makes no sense.
They literally bleeped "screaming in the trunk"😒
"Just drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive" was a reference to my name is.
Thank you. I forgot to put that!
The song is: Dido - Thank You
Bonnie = from ' '97 Bonnie & Clyde' on the Slim Shady LP. Eminem's daughter is called Hallie.
Whitney and Alaina too
@@MrZKR2391 My bad, yeah. But at the time of this song, I think it was just Hallie.
Don’t let them listen to this 😂😂😂 they’ll never listen to another one of his songs
@@_nx.14_17 😂 Yeah, good point. Leave that one 'til last, guys!
Crazy song but good. Even Kim.
Actors in video are....Devon Sawa (Idle Hands and Final Destination movies)and Dido(singer of original song "Thank You")
Not going to make us all feel even older by referencing Casper and Little Giants?
Thanks for this info
She is going to turn into a Stan if she reacts to more Eminem.
😎😅😅😅
Right wait until they get to Kamikaze or Music to be murdered by 🤫
FACTS!
Lol GG 😂😅
Oh no 😱
Stan is played by Devon Sawa, the sample is from Dido.
SLC PUNK!!! Sean and the acid!!!!
The girl in the video is dido, a singer, it is a sample of one of her songs...you guys are my new favorite smart sophisticated reactors. Would love for you to react to Architects, love the metal analysis 👌, as far as metal, reading lyrics along the way is best.
Yeah Architects would be good, I wish more reactors would check them out.
Oh boy. Y’all popped the Eminem bubble. Get ready for literally thousands of requests.
I'm shocked Lex hasn't heard this until now. Takes me back a ways
I like some Shady but didn't follow him. until digging into TomMcDonald I have never seen Stan video or heard the song
Matthew? Is that you? 🤣
That Bonnie line was a reference to Eminem - 97 Bonnie and Clyde song where Eminem refers to his daughter as Bonnie
It is a crying shame they didn't have the explicit version. So much of the story is lost, and it really matters in this song.
When this dropped everyone suddenly went “oh this guy Eminem is something special”
Conceptually a masterpiece
"Ohhhh! That's what a Stan is... a creep!"
Yes ma'am... a weird one. Super obsessed to where it's detrimental.
🤣🤣🤣
Exactly. Just how sharp Eminem is. A fan is short for fanatic. Stan is a combo of stalker fanatic.
There's a sequel to this song, Bad Guy. You should definitely react to that.. and go with the lyrics video.
Most chill-inducing is when Stan's little brother take his hood off. 😲
It is like *that story will never end, because when one stan disappear, immediatelly we get new* and also Stan himself said, Matthew liked Eminem EVEN MORE...
Meaning: Stan never learn and only become more and more obsessive... As after it all, we see Stan's face glimpse in a window - like, he just crossed one last barrier between himself and Eminem...
This song hit more, every time You focuse on it... 🤷🏻♀️
When they found out the guy who actually break into Em's house was actually Stan's brother Matthew...Eminem talked about that in his mtmb album
** had the same Name as the Fictional character.... **
Even in death stan is obsessed...he can be seen watching over Eminem when the lightning strikes at the end in the window.
Dido is the artist that sung the hook.
Eminem was looking for a hook and heard it one day and said I NEED THAT GET ME THAT!
The sample song is from Dido and the song is called Thank You.
Yeah stan is stalker and fan put together. Amazing song.
The pregnant girl in the video is an artist named, 'Dido' (die-dough). The samples song is hers.
The sample made it more chilling. And this song is so classic. Like Brad said now “Stan” is now an actual word used to say someone is obsessed with someone/something. This song is like no other. Us 90’s teenage kids lived for this video on OLD SKOOL Mtv. Great song.
Yes. It’s a word used because of this song. You act like it’s a coincidence.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have a confession to make. This is the first time I have EVER heard a Eminem song and I am 52.After watching and hearing this song I get why he is so highly respected. This song is a freaking work of art.I’m about to go down the Eminem rabbit hole to see if he hits me like Tom Macdonald did.
Did you just not listen to music or turn on a tv for the last 25 years? I don't how much rap you have listened to but, watch some lyrical breakdown videos from reactors like knox hill if you are going to do this, Eminem entangles so many double and triple entendres in his songs that you wont catch the precision of his wordplay listening on your own for the first time. Greatest lyrical wordsmith in history. He has college courses that break down his songs.
@@juicesghost8501 thanks for the info! You need to understand that I am in my 50’s.I have been a music lover for 6 decades now.I was aware of who Eminem was when he came out because my nephews and their friends listened to him.By the mid 90’s when the grunge/alternative genre took over mainstream radio I tunes out and never went back.I have listened to underground Metal/Punk/Gothabilly and country for the past 3 decades.I listened to old school rap back in the day but once gangster rap hit I was done with it.I didn’t get back into Rap until I seen a friends post on Facebook telling me to check out Tom Macdonald’s Dear Rappers. That was over 2 years ago and I haven’t turned him off since...lol
@@darrellwood3913 Wow you got a have a lot of good music to discover from the past 30 years then, envious of your potential journey.
@@juicesghost8501 Thanks! And on the flip side when I see the younger generation reacting for the first time to great music of the past that I have heard a million times I’m envious of them getting moved by it like I did decades ago.Can you suggest the first 10 songs I should listen to of Em to get a grasp of his greatness?
@@darrellwood3913 Thats a pretty tall order, were talking one of the greatest lyricists ever with a 25 year catalog, Myself, I would probably just go album by album starting at the beginning so you can see the evolution in his skill, remember he has always been controversial so his lyrics and content are pretty explicit. Also, again, reaction videos from the popular content creators will dissect his rhyme schemes for you so you get a good understanding with a first listen. Eminem has so much information in each song that you wont pick it all up without listening to songs over and over again. Its overwhelming.
The sample is Dido-Thank you. It dropped at almost the same time as “Stan” and basically I believe while it’s a sample, that is dido in the video, and it’s pretty much “featuring Dido”
"BONNIE" is from Eminem's song "97' Bonnie and Clyde" which had him and his daughter Haley doing vocals.
This has to be the greatest written song ever.
😩😩😩😩 no kap one of the best songs ever
the background track is by an artist from England named DIDO...after this she blew up on the charts!
Putting all the crazy letters aside, the reason Em got so popular is because he was so relatable to everyone who was struggling with life in general.
I just can't see why people took him so seriously.
I never did like Em and never will like him. His music was garbage then and still garbage now.
@@gemininimeg you're brainded buddy Eminem still bodies your favorite rapper just listen to kings never die

This song is forever Iconic. That chorus by Dido will forever be recognizable. I was very surprised once she started singing it; Lex didn’t recognize it.
"Floor's so dirty " . . . Lex adorable 😂
Great reaction guys !
He change the world with his pen!
Ever seen ‘Misery’? A Stan is “your number one fan” lol

in the end when thunder struck, you can see stans reflection on eminems window.
Do Eminems "NO LOVE" for Lex, great collab with Weezy.
@Kelli Waters Yes, gotta do "No Love" and "Drop the World" back to back.
Lmao, first world problems, Lex - "Look at how dirty that floor is"
"I'm not an Eminem historian" lmao
I'm glad you reacted to this right before Tom's "Dear Slim"
That was a treat. Watching Brad react to Lex's reaction to a classic Em video is pretty surreal. In a good way though.

Thanks Brad and Lex first time I've ever watched this video as well. Love your reactions. Love that you played this after Tom's song.
Dope reaction, theres a part 2 called Bad Guy
Stalker+fan=stan
much love #HOGFAM 😜💯❤💯❤
This is one of the best songs ever written in my opinion , there's a part 2 called bad guy as well
Next time you watch check the window when the lightning strikes stans image pops up for a sec
Eminem can do no wrong in Stans eyes. He is their idol. Any song he puts out is a classic and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. This song...is a classic.
Oh man, you two should definitely watch 8Mile now. It would be the perfect time to do it.
Also a review of "Run Rabbit Run" would be the best for straight bars from start of song to finish. It's a top Best for Eminem songs.
This song is the result of the joint with Dido. Dido has a version of her own too, called "Thank you". So there's a version for Eminem and another for Dido without rap.
This song is so iconic legendary.
Eminem changed forever the world with this song and also the vocabulary worldwide for Stan as an Obcessed fan.
Portugal here for the Goat Eminem always since day one and forever. Thanks for reacting. Salutes.
Best storytelling rapper ever.
More Eminem reactions please. From 1st album till now.
Dido’s isn’t a “version” - she WROTE the song “Thank you”. Eminem wanted to sample it and got her involved in the video.
@@penname5766 I know it very well.
And that IS Dido in the video. The artist who sings Thank You, the main sample from the track.
Welp, the Eminem rabbit hole approaches 😂 I was gonna list some songs of his I recommend, but there are far too many, so go wild 🤙🏻🤙🏻
@@neillscott4192 yep the dirty version and also with the lyrics
Back in 2000 or so magazines and physical media was still the majority before internet was worth a damn. Having a wall or room like that wouldn't be too far of a stretch if you're a huge fan
The ending is even deeper cause that’s a future lil stand standing by the gravestone
Man I remember when this album came out I was probably only like 9 years old and had no business listening to it but I absolutely loved it. It was my introduction to hip hop and I’m still a huge Eminem fan. He is the GOAT no doubt about it!
It was funny in the beginning *Brad* was getting his groove on & *Lex* was just staying still focused on the lyrics went in a past video *Lex* was trying to teach *Brad* how to bounce to the beat
Ima tell u I decided to subscribe to y'all because u actually discuss lyrics and feelings. I love the energy I support y'all
Lex needs to hear the Slim Shady LP. It'll illuminate all the references that were made in the song.
Absolute classic! This song was a real game changer in storytelling and not only in hip-hop music.
For anyone wondering Eminem realised a song a year before Stan called '97 bonnie and Clyde so I think that's the reason why Stan would name his daughter bonnie
listen to the Dido song on it's own. sad I remember my mom playing that put after husband passed. Still brings a tear to my eye.
Honestly react to all his hits again, when you listen to his lyrics you pick up new things EVERY single time you listen to it again
The chorus from an British singer called Dido. It's a sample...the song's name is "Thank You" or something like that. I remember this because it was popular when I lived in Germany, and then this song came out not too long after.
Now when he called MGK Stan he hands down won diss song!
The actor in the video is Devon Sawa. He was in Idle Hands and the first "Final Destination " movie. Is actually a well known actor in that time period.
I remember Eminem saying he wrote this song based on absolutely crazy stuff that fans of his would write to him in fan letters.
The female part of the song is from a British singer that goes by Dido. “Thank You” I think is the name of the original song.
Loved Lex's reaction! 😁❤✌
Did you notice Stan in the widow when the lightning hit at the end of the video.
Yall be putting in work on these reactions💯💪
I only found out recently that at the end when Em is writing back to Stan when the lightning strikes you can see Stans ghost in the window. Could not believe I'd never noticed it.
I mean.. can we give a shout out to the fact that this was spit so well, that Lex didn't even realize it was LYRICS to a song. It was only the story to her... Phenomenal.
The hook is a sample from another song called "Thank You" by Dido, She played stan's girlfriend/wife in this music video
" '97 Bonnie and Clyde" (you need to listen to it for the back-story to Stan) got a ton of heat in its day for "glorifying violence against women", with so many parents' groups up in arms about fears of "copycat" fans. It was art, story-telling. It was actually pretty tame compared to other stuff at the time, but he blew up, so he took much of the public scorn. His response was to tell a tale of a mentally unstable fan who can't separate art from life.
"Stan" then got heat for being "homophobic". Big props to Elton John for having Eminem's back during that BS. Imagine if Elton had been called "size-ist" for "Tiny Dancer", or expected to pilot a space shuttle for "Rocketman".
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised anymore. People are so dumb.
Also the “Kim” reference! I’m glad you wrote this. I was trying to remember all of the references but I’m ADHD and couldn’t keep up to write the comment at the end. 97’ Bonnie and Clyde ❤️❤️
@@ozzyinphilly LOL, thanks. I don't even remember writing this. I sounded pretty coherent 2 years ago.
After watching you Dear Slim reaction and Lex saying she never saw Stan, I was like what?? I want to see her reaction on that now... and BAM 💥 you did it. 💪 I’m here for it.
I really appreciate how you guys added and reacted to his response of why he made the video. I remember listening to it when it first came out. The ending still makes me tear up a little. I'm sad Eminem decided to disown half his fan base recently, but I still appreciate his music from back in the day. He helped me through a lot of tough times when I was a teenager. You guys should check out "Dear Slim" by Tom Macdonald.
The song the girl (Dido) is singing is a song in it's own right called "Thank You" written by her, that was sampled by Eminem.
At the time Mental Illness was still seen as being possessed by evil and noone spoke about it, it was taboo. A lot of people suffered in silence, there was no platform to speak. That's why music was so big and had such an impact on people, it was incredibly validating that someone finally put our feelings into words. Stan is Eminem speaking out about mental illness, especially in men, and was simply saying he got it and it doesn't have to be so bad. You aren't alone. He was also referencing all the hate and blame he got for kids un-aliving themselves, he was a scapegoat for a sick society the government wouldn't take responsibility for. Bill Clinton even spoke against Eminem. Anyone who doesn't get how progressive Eminem is needs to go down a rabbit hole and learn a thing or two imho
This song is genius because not only is it great storytelling & it came up with a new word Stan but it has so many call backs all the stuff Stan says he does is callbacks to old Eminem song. Like the part about slitting his wrist actually comes out in alot of his songs the part about putting his girlfriend in the trunk is him imitating Eminems music because there's a song called 97 Bonnie & Clyde where Em puts Kim in a trunk. Also the part that they bleep out about I just drank a 1/5 of vodka dare me to drive thats from My Name Is. So it shows how obsessed he is with em & how he takes something that is just for entertainment so serious.
Linkin Park - Numb
The star of the first Final destination movie played Stan. his name was Alex in the movie.
The hook is by Dido from her song Thank you. ruclips.net/video/1TO48Cnl66w/видео.html
Correct!
idk if y'all know this or anyone else said it, but a couple years ago now i think, they officially added Stan to the dictionary as an official term for someone who fans out over someone that hard.
Actual definition if you look it up:
an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity.
"he has millions of stans who are obsessed with him and call him a rap god"
Yo brad if she hasn’t seen or heard some em songs you have to take her back she will be fascinated the real slim shady Iam white America cmon now bring lex up to speed
The reason the acting by Stan was so good is he wasn’t simply cast for the video, that was Devon Sawa. He’s a known actor.
Lex I'm so disappointed you haven't heard this song before, here take this coloring book and go sit in the corner and think about what you did! 😂😂😂😋
😅😅😆 i didn’t grow up listening to rap!! I haven’t heard most of the classics lol.
Stan is such an impressive song. When you consider he wrote this from the viewpoint of the obsessed fan rather than his own viewpoint as the celebrity. It must have taken enormous insight and perception to put himself in the opposite position. Very dark, and sadly very real. Genius work.
Stan is really a Short Film Eminem Is The Goat Of Hip Hop! Stan is a masterpiece and the fact he came up with this word is genius of him and also y’all should definitely React to Eminem “Not Afraid”👊🏽🐐🔥🎯💯
Em is a SHEEP not a GOAT, that would be 2PAC and other rappers that put good music with good lyrics out.
Lexie you are glowin girl with full with energi, you and brad has nice reaction channel going you guys are wonderful
You gotta react to some good recent Eminem songs like
Rap God, Fall, higher,.
The "drank a fifth of vodka" is a line from an older Eminem song, and the put her in the trunk is mimicking what Em did on the song "Kim". Basically the point is he took everything Em ever rapped about as literal, then imitated it when he went off the deep end.
Put Tom's video in perspective now? Tom bringing Stans and HOG together 😁✌🤘 got us remembering how great the original Eminem was!
Yeah except you cant even compare Dear Slim to Stan. Stan hit on emotional notes with cadences, rhymes schemes were dense without being lyrical miracle, flow was wild. Dear Slim sounds like every other Tom MacDonald single that gets pushed. Verse using the same flow he always does, chorus with the same overproduced effects, verse using the same flow, chorus repeat bridge chorus.
Eminem’s still great
@@goof9578 Eminem is even better now than he was back then. Technically he is pushing the limits of his ability. And im here for it.
I'm not comparing them, I'm just saying you have to watch Stan to get what Tom was going for. You can't out do Stan and he wasn't trying to. We don't have to like one or the other. We can be fans of and appreciate both for the artists they are and what they both bring to the game. I think Eminem is super talented and I think it was classy of Tom to pay homage and give credit for him being where he is now. People can't hate Tom for pushing boundaries and flipping the bird to the system like Em does. They're both great af and I think it's cool to let Em know he paved the way for others. I hope Stans take a look at Tom's music and HOG rediscovers Em. If you still hating and dividing I don't know what to say to ya. Thanks Brad and Lex for reacting to the awesomeness that started it all.
