Boston Harbor: 50 Years of Transformation

- In 1969, Larry Rosenblum and Derek Lamb gathered helicopter footage to document and shed light on the state of Boston Harbor. Polluted waters and crumbling infrastructure painted a stark picture of a neglected and underused harbor and islands.
50 years later, Boston Harbor Now traced the same path above Boston Harbor, revealing what is now a vital public resource with clean waters, a vibrant maritime economy, and a restored Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park.
This transformation would not have been possible without the help of many advocates, public agencies and non-profit organizations who worked together to create the harbor we see today. Join Boston Harbor Now in celebrating all that has been accomplished in the last 50 years - and in imagining the potential the next half-century could hold.

I've been living in Boston since 1996 and I live near the waterfront. To see what our (now) beautiful islands and beaches looked like back then is truly humbling and I can't stop smiling. The narrator has a very soothing voice as well.
I love my city.
Just amazing. Very few cities in the world have accomplished this. Boston has been getting ready for the 21st century challenges and more cities in US should follow our example. Love Boston!
We're now leading with planning for the water rising. There've already been knee deep tides over the waterfront a couple of times in the last couple of years. (So strange to see the moored harbor cruise ferries, looming, looking like they could drive right into town.) Not sure that we'll see Back Bay with gondolas touring through it as some PR videos project, though.
I know it's quite randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
Boston harbour is really nice❤
Legends say that the harbor still tastes like tea
i grew up in Jefferies Point in East Boston in the 70's right there along the waters edge
Amazing to see all the changes
I too wish it took a little longer look at things.
Definitely, massive transformation !!
great video
❤ Boston
The presentation goes by too fast, imo.
Wish we could put it in slow motion, or at least slower motion.
Wow Boston is beautiful
Wow ❤️
Who are the two chuckleheads who gave this clip a thumbs-down (and why would they)?
Probably Trump fan boys. Lmao.
Music too loud for voice
Useless information but the Mass Pike now goes under Boston Harbor
Can’t wait to dump the tea. ☕️
Albeit the Harbor is cleaner, but the DCR and the Department of interior harbor island have dropped the ball,, most of the islands sea walls are decimated, Georges island Fort waren is falling into the sea,, The harbor island now should get on the stick start fixing the sea walls befor you have no island left, just rocks and sand bars ! !
