As an American I agree it’s pretty disappointing how much of our population can’t even speak another language especially one like Spanish which is widely spoken and relatively easy to learn
@@nickolasbarboza312 that's because you don't have to learn another language because most of the world knows your language so I can see why that is the case there.

Ahh as an American who learnt German, damn I agree with you. It used to be our second language and now it is virtually gone here, you won't really every use it unless you seek out the opportunity to use it. Spanish though, is quite the opposite. 1 out of every 4 or 5 people speak it, so it is everywhere

On the other hand, I would love to speak English fluently one day but unfortunately I have never had the chance to practice my English with native English speakers in real life. It's kinda discouraging, right?
Boston has become an "International" City in the last 20 years. Many Brazilian, Haitians and other immigrants live there now. If you had done this video 20+ years ago it would be very different. Boston is now a "Minority Majority" city.

I'm from mexico, in fact ,in this moment I'm living at Vermont for working and improve my English language and I would like to learn to speak french,German, Portuguesse And Arabic language. Thanks for sharing , for real!.regards from Vermont.
As a European, people, especially Americans, overestimate Europeans. Most Europeans (outside of the UK and Ireland) speak two languages, their native language plus English. A large part of Spain and France really only speak one as knowledge of English there is poor. Some people with migration background speak 3, the language spoken at home, the language of the country they grew up in, plus English. People being able to speak 3 is already uncommon, but more than 3 languages is really rare. And if that is the case, they often speak some languages that are similar to each other. Like Dutch and German or Spanish and Portuguese. At least from my experience.
I also did the same DNA test a few weeks ago and got my results last week🙃 Btw I speak 3 languages (English, German, Persian) somewhat fluently and I've been learning Hindi/Urdu, Turkish, Korean and Spanish the past couple of years, so yeah my goal is to speak these 7 languages as fluently as possible. And maybe I’ll add French, Mandarin and Japanese to my list…

I speak 4 languages very good but also more . My mother language is Persian . I was grown up in Norway so I speak Norweagian , I learned english in school ,and I live and work in Germany now . I also have been one year in Italy and also had France in school for three years ... NICE isnt it

Dan, this was very interesting and I hope you do the same format in other cities. Being from Massachusetts (but the extreme western part of the state in Gt Barrington) I was very interested and was happy with the results.
Damn, my girlfriend (who’s German) did a volunteer job for a year in great Barrington! Im from Boston.. but great Barrington is indeed great in the summer!
🐢 Really enjoy those videos, hope you come one day to Brazil.
Wow that last youngman looks amazing and also very kind😊
Wow, I love how so many people can speak two, three, four languages! I always wonder if they are naturally good at learning languages, or if they studied, or perhaps came from a bi-lingual home. Very intriguing.
I m bilingual because of my parents. I speak arabic, italian, sardinian dialect, and greek. I speak fluent french due to living 18 years in France.
Usually we learn in school and thats gives you a bit of context and knowledge. Brazil is surrounded by hispanos and we must learn + English of course. Not everyone will get fluency, as this is related to personal interests, goals, etc. but we should all know the basic.
sometimes it's a necessity in some countries , if your native language is not spoken by alot of people or there are several languages in your country , like i live in Belgium the dutch speaking part so we try to learn some french and we learn alot of english from popular culture , the french speaking people in my country feel less the need to learn another language since french is such a big language family
@@lotuscabrio2937sardinian is not a dialect
You dont need to be naturally good..just to try ...am Moroccan and I speak arabe and amazigh a north african language..french since elementary school and english from high school...
I speak two languages fluently (Kurdish and English clearly)I also speak arabic pretty well I'm halfway there!

Been watching your videos as my script runs and I very rarely post comments but kudos to you man for putting the lady's RUclips channel as a gesture on at 6:00. Amazing channel you have, by the way!
Why didn't you ask the guy with the dog to speak in Russian?
Because he is a very strange dude, having interest for all kinda cultures and languages but not the Russian one which is definitely one of the greatest of all time...
@@Leodicapri0 сейчас это не модно))
I believe the main reason is because he doesn't want to risk getting demonitized due to the fact that posting any content relating to Russia is discouraged by most social platforms, because it likely means losing advertisers who don't want to associate their brand with this country since they're labled as the "bad guys". It's ultimately about money for most people.

The capital of my home state.. So cool to see you here..thanks for visiting us here in New England! Merci d'avoir visité la nouvelle angleterre!!
Basically, locals speak only English and migrants speak half a dozen. Nothing new. Ahaha
As an American I agree it’s pretty disappointing how much of our population can’t even speak another language especially one like Spanish which is widely spoken and relatively easy to learn
right if half a dozen is 2...
@@nickolasbarboza312 not so much Spanish.
US Americans (of Generational descent) don't even know ASL (American Sign Language)😢
@@nickolasbarboza312 that's because you don't have to learn another language because most of the world knows your language so I can see why that is the case there.
@@curiousmind_ true but learning a second language has a lot of benefits. But you’re right they don’t have the necessity to learn a second language
It was pretty cool asking the dog of the russian guy, how many languages it could speak😊 I’m sure these extraordinary lovely creatures have the ability to understand all languages but unfortunately they remain silent 😢, i love dogs❤
🐢I think it fascinating how some people will say they speak a language even if they don’t speak it fluently. Others will say they know a language a bit or that they are learning
🐢
I loved listening to the Spanish and German in this video. I wish more Americans would learn these languages.
I’ve always thought German sounds so smooth - I really like the sound of it.
Spanish has many accents, even among specific places. :) my personal favorite is the Colombian Spanish accent

The last one actually spoke in Fulani instead of Wolof, as he was supposed to do. I myself speak Fulani as my first language. And I'm fluent in French, English and Wolof, in that order.
are you ethnically wolof or fulani? Do non-wolof in senegal speak wolof as a lingua franca
I love seeing those type of videos. If you get the chance please go to my home country Germany. You'll be surprised how diverse we are and how many different languages are spoken.
I, myself speak about 5 languages 🙂
I agree, I live in Berlin and when the question is asked there, the results are much better. Because Europe is more international than the USA.

I like the question “What languages do you speak?” A lot better than “Where are you from?”
Enjoyed watching it!
🐢 Amazing video!!! Boston is a great city but I think it will never be better than New York of course. On the other hand, I would love to speak English fluently one day but unfortunately I have never had the chance to practice my English with native English speakers in real life. It's kinda discouraging, right?

Yes that’s normal when you speak your language daily ………
3:10 it's that ugly weird statue 😂😂😂😂😂😂
At my gym in Boston I usually hear English, Spanish, Portuguese and French Creole. Sometimes I hear Korean/ Chinese/ Russian too.
Boston has become an "International" City in the last 20 years. Many Brazilian, Haitians and other immigrants live there now. If you had done this video 20+ years ago it would be very different. Boston is now a "Minority Majority" city.
Wow , i love your work!
Thanks buddy for sharing this amazing video.I began to encourage me to study others languages. Europeans: “I only speak 14 languages”.
I think it is because they are so close to different countries and travel. In America, we travel the same distance, but it is still America.
Love these videos! Keep it up!

And maybe I’ll add French, Mandarin and Japanese to my list…
you should initiate more dialogue in french with the people who are claiming to be able to speak french
yeah, I noticed that every time someone tells him he can speak french, he decides to ignore it…

I think that Spanish and English are the most spoken languages around the world. I mean, I find those two languages as an opposite one of the other. I know that there are many other important languages in the world but they are not very common, and at the time to speak I think that there are four of them which govern. Those are: Chinese - English - Spanish and French.
