What an exciting channel- thank you for sharing! I grew up in SSF where as a child I would throw cast masters in the flats of the bay while my father threw flies for stripers! This channle brings back many exciting memories! thanks for sharing your passion! FISH ON!

That perfection loop idea is down right genius! Think it would work for pyramid lake?

Could you please tell me what grain weight your overhead casting with the 6wt Method?

Have you opened up the hub on your Grip? If you haven't, I suggest you do. I've found that the reel is not 100% waterproof. I opened it up once and found water inside the hub. I've ran a few experiments and found that lining the O ring seal that goes around the hub with a light coat of lithium grease helps keep water out. I open it after every outing just to make sure it's dry.

Novice Flyfisher thanks for mentioning this! Yes I noticed this on some of the first round reels they released, I believe they have solved the issue since then. Haven’t had an issue with the current Grip, good tip about the grease!

Permit me to say this. I've fly fished the surf along the Gulf of Mexico in NW Florida for years and several years ago I began using switch and spey rods because I loved the idea of not having to make multiple back casts to load my rod.
Doing that seemed like a reasonably good idea but after a few years of it what I learned is that fishing with 2 hand rods in the crashing surf is hard ass work due to the line management issues involved in heavy wave action. That is definitely not the case on a gently moving river but in surf or swift water you'll be much wiser to stick with a proper single hand rod and use a strong double haul.
I have caught fish on 2 hand rods but my success was achieved while on flats boats and not while standing in knee or hip deep surf with waves that come along and try to flatten you. In my mind and in my experience, line management in even moderate surf is much easier with a single hand rod.

You might want to give Richard Gilliam and Mark Wong some credit for a lot of what you have learned.

Hey Geoff, I have definitely mentioned credit to my mentors in different parts of our filming. This was just an informative clip that LCO put together from different video takes, don't worry I am sure you will hear them mentioned in future videos, stay tuned!
