Gotta say I’ve been watching your channel for some years now and I greatly appreciate the content you make. Remembering some of the trips you took helped me get through military bootcamp. I’d often be in the head cleaning and day dream about being on a locomotive. Your videos often bring me a calming comfort. Took the wife on luxury train ride when I graduated. I’ll never forget it. Thanks.
Thanks for posting this. In the 1970s/80s our whole family took the night train to Nice every summer when we spent our vacation in Antibes. The train also had wagons to take your car with you. And I still remember today, 50ish years later, that it was great to wake up in the morning when the train passed St. Raphael and/or Cannes. You woke up, looked out the window, and saw the Mediterranean. Great childhood memories.
The 2nd Class is perfect for young people, it is fun extremely cheap. The first class is not really different, what is missing is a real first class like they had in the 60's 70's with Wagon-lits, and wagon-restaurants. That way they could accommodate a whole range of customer.
Would’ve been a great trip if any running water in our 1st class carriage! Refreshments were just a guy behind a hatch with a kettle. Beautiful journey though.
There are still some - just a few. I know of the daytime Intercités from Paris to Toulouse (several a day) but there might be some more. The best way to check that would be to consult Wikipedia (possibly in F, as the F version is likely more up to date than the GB one).
ahh thank you! and yes indeed, I am well aware of the issue of English wikipedia articles about France being... more than lacking shall we say!! @@majy1735
1st class has 4 beds, 2nd has 6 beds. Pillows are comfier too. We book second class for a family of 4, then add the option of choosing private berth so it's only us inside. Extra 40 Euros, children feel safe so it's worth it.
And the bathroom situation? would have been good to see what the 'middle of the night wee' and shower before/after bed options were for each carriage type
Hmmm, it's honestly not the best. 1st time we did it, they were like Glastonbury 😮 Last year, better so hoping next week will be better again. Depends on whose sharing the carriage really, if it's families all seems good.
Great video but SNCF sucks. First class should be second and second should be third. I cant believe they used to be part of TEE and have trains like Le Capitole or Mistral... 😊Look at Nightjet...
You're right. SNCF got rid of the T2 sleepers with 1 & 2 bed compartments in 2007, and what it's left with is not really what the market wants these days. But at least they still have night trains - and are proposing new equipment at some point.
It’s an extremely popular service. Right now it’s completely sold out. Also it’s good if trains aren’t full because it’s public infrastructure and more space is better
Really enjoyed this. Took me back 50 years to an overnight Paris Nice trip. Amazing it still looks the same!
Actually it’s sad it looks the same. It looks right out of the 1950’s. That isn’t first class in the 21st century.
Always love taking a ride on that sleeper 😊 I'm based near Saint-Raphaël so to have a nonstop sleeper service from my local station is amazing.

Many thanks for including the bicycle information. Its always useful knowing what to expect when travelling with a bicycle. Thanks.

Lovely ride between 2 beautiful cities. Thanks for sharing your experiences and valuable information
This is great. Thank you for all these vicarious journeys. I always enjoy them.😊
That looks great. Just the sort of journey I want to do.
Thanks 😉
i love you seat 61 thank you for your service
Man, it you ages to publish a new video. Great, as always, thank you
nice trip brought back memories I did it with a few mates back over 30 years ago
My first trip from Paris to Nice in a 2nd class couchette, back in 1956… I traveled alone, I was 6 then… Another era, for sure!

It’s never fun sharing with strangers in abed room. It’s the sort of thing you’d do at school. Not as adults.
@@xr6lad what a pretentious attitude. Plenty of adults travel in night trains and enjoy it.

nice train service .
❤❤❤❤intercités de nuit
Am I right in thinking there are no longer any classic 'Intercites' trains from Paris to the South of France that run through the daytime?

So no bed bugs on this train?
I’d love to do a train trip like this someday soon
Great trip
What was the difference between 1st class and standad berth? For me they looked similiar.
1st class has 4 beds, 2nd has 6 beds. Pillows are comfier too. We book second class for a family of 4, then add the option of choosing private berth so it's only us inside. Extra 40 Euros, children feel safe so it's worth it.
Also 2nd class had no electric outlets in the past, apparently they do this year, I'm due on tomorrow night so we'll see.
Lovely.

This is really great! Can someone share what’s the best way to book a sleeper ticket? I’m based in the UK. Thanks for such an informative video!
sncfconnect
TrainLine is my goto app for this. Works for trains in multiple countries in Europe.
The SNCF Connect is the best for all intercity rail in France
hi, please review the new jakarta to bandung high speed train (whoosh). thanks in advance...
Nice train. But why can't one book a first class couchette and a place for a bike???
Good question. But you can't - I guess they want bikes and riders all in the same car.
@@seat61 Thank you., then Nightjet is doing a better job. One can reserve all classes and a place for a bike.
The French are so bureaucratic, you know...

Pity they do not offer a 2 berth 1st class. This is what made me desist to take it and opt for a late night flight instead.
what is the maximum speed of this train mate?
Can you open a window on these trains?
How did I take the shots with all the wind noise outside the train?
Doesn't show up on the video. Got Asthma. That's why I need access to fresh air. Thanks for replying.
Watch 02:28 or 03:44 or 04:50 !!!!!
it looks a lot like sleepers in China of the 2010s

So terrible, so sad. SNCF was on TGV ONLY , forced to night trains with the help of public money.
indeed @@marie-francoisebarillot2658
why do they make such a big train and the train cars are all empty? they only need 3 cars
How would you know they were empty?
