Thank you for the information! My wife and I will be visiting multiple countries in Europe next summer and this helped. I will say we visited Switzerland last June, and their trains were NEVER delayed. The Swiss really do things right!
Thanks much! Sounds like Eurail today is more trouble than when I blitzed Europe with a three-month pass in 1978. All I had to do was board the train, often at the last minute, and flash the plastic pass to the conductor. A few fast trains (i.e. Paris to Amsterdam) required a reservation, but traveling off-season I found the conductors didn't insist on them.
Good tips here and a lot how to suggestions! I am planning a Eurail trip next year and I loved all the great advice. I knew nothing before watching your video! Well done!
Two things: 1. If you book a train ticket without Eurail and the journey includes more than one train, you will be taken care of if you miss your connection. Normally you'll just be put on the next train, or in rare circumstances the next train will wait for your delayed train. If there is no next train, they may either book a taxi for you or provide you with a hotel room to stay for the night. You also have the option of booking an alternative connection yourself and requesting compensation, however I am not super familiar with the rules regarding that. This is all mandated by EU law. 2. Please don't put your feet on tray tables and seats. It's really not nice for the next person who'll sit there.
Thank you, thank you, thank! I've been struggling with this whole train-thing! I took notes, sent it to hubby, and will listen to it again, and save it!

Loved this video! Nicely detailed for planning! You are probably tired of answering questions after these 9 months, but what would you recommend for Eurail travel from London to Rome, likely 7 to 14 days? Route to take? Stops to make, and how long? Type of pass?
Its hard to say simply because it depends what you enjoy doing! We don’t enjoy cities much so we didn’t even stop in Rome despite passing right through it! The type of pass depends on how long your trip is and how much flexibility you want!
If you do not plan on stopping at smaller towns and just seeing London, Paris and Rome. I'd take the Eurostar train from London (thru the Chunnel) to Paris. Then when finished with Paris take the high speed train to Rome. You will probably have to switch trains in Milan and possibly switch train stations in Milan as well. My French was not that good, or the ticket salesman neglected to tell me we switched train stations in Milan. We hopped off the train, could not find are next train, ask for assistance and were told our train was at another station and left in 25 minutes. Jumped in a taxi, dashed across town (1.5 miles) and made it in time! I have a French friend who did NOT recommend the slower overnight train from Paris - Rome. He said it stopped too many places and you get no rest. The high speed train went during the day and the sights were great. Saw a few castles, waterfalls on the edge of the Alps. Good Luck!
Hello- Thanks for the great video! I do have a couple questions though. Can you take all direct trips with the eurail pass in Italy? when needing to search for the schedules, especially to reserve a seat do you use the eurail app or the train website? I am travelling in October and the App did not provide many options on trips that mentions the train comes frequently - or will the schedule be more precise closer to Oct?

We loved Eurail April 2019. We did Greece 5 days with no Eurail pass We activated it the second day in Rome. We rang to book the fast trains needed prior to leaving home in Australia and printed them out. We had a Paper Eurail ticket and used the app as well We were over 27 so it was first class less crowded. Best experience ever and its the only way I would travel when I go to Europe again ,unless we go with a Rick Steves tour like I did 2013 when the exchange rate was $1.06 to the USD Its like .72c now I was so lucky. but both were excellent and I love Eurail. Most importantly to do your homework and plan plan plan and of course watch this video a few times . I think Eurail have added Great Britain now as that wasn't there 2019. Great informative video.
Great information thanks Nina. I just booked a Glacier Express Ticket with my Eurail Pass on there website and I only had to pay for seat reservation, This may be new this year. We purchased the 15 day 2 mts pass and I been doing a lot of research. My husband and I are the senior category and I feel that this will be are best way to see all the countries we picked out. I am rethinking Paris because of the time of year we would be there. Maybe Austria would be way better. I am not sure you were at the Nord/eastern border of Italy at all there is a wonderful trip in to Austria from there we may take. Thanks for all your hard work! I grew up in Switzerland and we live in Florida so this will be our senior trekking trip.
I didn't expect the video to be like that at all, I thought maybe a tour in the train and so on.. but the information and advices are gold. Thanks Nina and Jay you guys seems awesome and fun to travel with 🙌
@22:00 tickets in Europe are often "open", i.e. not bound to a specific train, so you can just use the next one if you miss one. If you have a ticket that's specifically for one train, or there is a mandatory reservation for a specific train and you miss it because of a delay: go to the conductor or ticket office and ask for a written confirmation of the delay; then your ticket will be accepted on other trains as well. Also: if you have a tight connection, let the conductor know! Often they can phone ahead and make the connecting train wait, if it's just a couple of minutes.
Thanks! I also found it frustrating not to have good enough instructions and the app was often bad. It did not find longer combined trips, so I either used google maps and/or the DB planner to find those and then add the single trips in the app. When going outside the zone to Ukraine, I had to activate the ticket to the last stop before the border, as Interrail does not cover anything outside its countries. One thing you can (and sometimes need to do) is to use the train company's site or app to book the reservation. Make sure you select the correct discount (Interrail/Eurail), as you will also be paying for the journey itself (which is covered by your pass!) otherwise. And do not forget that many trains don't have any dining possibility, so make sure yiu are well stocked! One thing to consider with these last minute plans - hotel fares will often be high and you might need to look for accomodation in the next town or just the general area where you can find good transit options (I stayed in Mulhouse instead of Colmar and Bern instead of Lauterbrunn).
Very good video. I'm going to travel first time in a few days and you've cleared so much for me, thanks!! I don't know about the idea at 19:45 though. If you took accomodation to one of the nearby stations close to the bigger city you're staying at, wouldn't you be using another day's pass just to get from the place to the city you wanna explore for the following days?
I just buy in klook today 5 june , i will use it to travel from amsterdam to paris in 13 June ( next week ) . Should I activate now ? Or later exactly in 13 june ? I only buy flexible 7 days in a month because I will use it to travel to 7 cities in europe thanks
I’ve watched numerous videos and this has been by far the best. Thank you! 🙏 I’m wondering if I can use the planning part of the app to save an itinerary without actually purchasing the pass yet? I still haven’t completed figured out when and where I want to travel, just know it will be somewhere in Europe. Also, was hoping you would touch on the train cars. I was in Italy last year and was so confused by which car I had to board. Some how ended up in business class my mistake and was kicked out after about 30 mins. Was nice while it lasted. 😂
Appreciate all the support!! Yes, you can create a trip and save journeys in the app even before connecting/purchasing a eurail pass The best method we found for cars is looking for signs or numbers on the doors before you enter that say 1 or 2 in reference to 1st or 2nd class. Usually 2nd class has a number 2 on the door. Also 1st class is usually significantly nicer (big seats, private cabins, etc) and you can tell the difference if you accidentally walk into the wrong car.
Hi, Great Videos, when traveling Eurorail, what did you do for booking accommodation? Did you book all your hotels before traveling? Or did you book your accommodation once you arrived at destination, or did you take a tent? Keep up the great work! Cameron
Awesome video. Please let me know what cities/countries you visited in the 2 month time period with your 15 day pass. I greatly appreciated all the details you went over but would love to see an overview of how you and/or others do their traveling on the Euro Pass type tickets. I am curious if there is some strategy on booking overnight trains with sleeper cars too but I don't think these have them and appreciate the advice on booking small town stops along the routes to save money. Any input for safe, affordable places in any of the big cities would be great too. Thanks for sharing!
Just as much as youre comfortable traveling with! I was say anything more than 2 bags would be pretty difficult especially on the busy trains when you can’t even get a seat!
thank you for such an elaborative video, i love d the way you shared even a minute detail, can you tell me about the eurail route coverage in switzerland specially, does it cover all area like if i want to travel from lyon france it only shows me bern and covers no additional place in switzerland is it so, or we can travel between switzerland major cities through eurail
One tip with reservations and any transfers. When you book a service from point a to point B there may be a train transfer. The app and site will often give you less than 45 minutes for the transfer. Don't take the risk. Go back and book each leg separately and allow up to 90 minutes for transfers. That allows for delays and finding the train. Remember, you will be in a foreign country, in a foreign train station.
Thank you so much for all the info ❤️ I'm staying in Milan for a week and during that week I'll have 3 free days that I'm planning on visiting Lugano, Venice and Verona. Do you think it's worth getting the 4-day pass or is it better to just get the individual tickets for each trip?

This is a terrific video. You’ve addressed so many questions I had. Thank you!
We love to hear that! Thanks for taking the time to let us know.
That sounds like an epic trip-hope you have fun!! Glad our vid was helpful(:
Thank you so much for the video! I was searching for exactly this information.
Love that!
Very detailed one ,with lot of information tips .
I didn't expect the video to be like that at all, I thought maybe a tour in the train and so on.. but the information and advices are gold. Thanks Nina and Jay you guys seems awesome and fun to travel with 🙌
And since you guys live in USA, what was your route from there to europe and back, and cost?
@@MahmoudZiada we flew from LAX to Vienna Austria for around $650 each!
Glad the video was helpful(:
This is an amazing video! Thank you so much! I am planning a family trip next summer and all your tips are so helpful!
take train in Europe is convenient. Use railcard! Different age has different discount. And there's a discount code too.
Thank you so much for ALL this detail!!
I can’t thank you enough for this video. You answered all my questions I’ve been wondering ❤
Incredible! Thank you for taking the time to write this comment-it lets us know we are doing something right!
Thanks for such detailed review. It should be on top of all the EURail related clips.
We certainly think so!
it is a great video!! every question I had, you just have solved them! thanks!
We love to hear that. Glad it was helpful!
This is awesome info! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the info & best wishes on your travels
Very helpful and comprehensive. Would suggest to slow down your delivery; It's a lot of information to take in and process
Thank you for the helpful video. What season did you guys go in. Planning my grad trip and don’t want to go in the summer!
We went in the low season Sept-October which comes with its pros/cons. Less crowds but lots of things are closed
Thank you so much for this video! Super informative when their website isn’t! ❤
Glad to hear it-thank you!
TYG FOR YOUR VIDEO! Me & my bestie plan to go to Europe this may and I appreciate all the information you shared
Glad you found it helpful! Would love if you shared anything we missed once you get back!!
Yes, you can create a trip and save journeys in the app even before connecting/purchasing a eurail pass
The best method we found for cars is looking for signs or numbers on the doors before you enter that say 1 or 2 in reference to 1st or 2nd class. Usually 2nd class has a number 2 on the door. Also 1st class is usually significantly nicer (big seats, private cabins, etc) and you can tell the difference if you accidentally walk into the wrong car.
Nice and well made. Liked subscribed and supported your channel too fellow vloggers
@@butchpam ah thank you!!! Appreciate it!
Thank you for this very comprehensive video
You’re welcome! Glad it was helpful(:
Hi, Great Videos, when traveling Eurorail, what did you do for booking accommodation? Did you book all your hotels before traveling? Or did you book your accommodation once you arrived at destination, or did you take a tent? Keep up the great work! Cameron
We did a mixture of both. I think it depends on how flexible you want your trip to be!
Enjoyed your Eurail vid!! Were there any luggage limitations when traveling on the trains?
Just as much as youre comfortable traveling with! I was say anything more than 2 bags would be pretty difficult especially on the busy trains when you can’t even get a seat!
Super helpful, I wish I had this when I travelled. Thank you!
take train in Europe is convenient. Use railcard! Different age has different discount. And there's a discount code too.
thank you for such an elaborative video, i love d the way you shared even a minute detail, can you tell me about the eurail route coverage in switzerland specially, does it cover all area like if i want to travel from lyon france it only shows me bern and covers no additional place in switzerland is it so, or we can travel between switzerland major cities through eurail
This was quite helpful! Thank you.
You’re welcome!
Amazing video! Keep it up.
Very helpful video thank you
Very comprehensive video. Thanks.
Youre welcome!
The Glacier and Bernini Express are now included in Eurail. You need seat reservations though.
Great info, thank you very much for sharing...I subscribed cuz you deserve it.
Its very much appreciated!
incredible video! please make the travel tip and money saving video for europe. it would be so helpful, thanks
We really appreciate the feedback!
Knowing what y’all want to see really helps us know what videos to make!
What a fantastic and informative video. This is all I was looking for. Thanks much .
Of course!
@@scottmcginn2169 that’s great advice. Especially for longer train rides!
Great and informative video. Thank you.
Thank you so much for all the info ❤️
I'm staying in Milan for a week and during that week I'll have 3 free days that I'm planning on visiting Lugano, Venice and Verona. Do you think it's worth getting the 4-day pass or is it better to just get the individual tickets for each trip?
Great video! I just purchased Eurail for my family of 4. We are traveling to Italy and meeting up with our daughter who is studying abroad. She HAS a Euro data plan and I’m wondering if I can move all of our passes to her phone. We have not activated them yet.
