Yep! Fun fact: I got to meet Michael Peters in the early 90's. He even let me hold the Grammy he won for his work on Michael Jackson's album. It was heavy too. Lol.
Her surname Falana, is actually a Yoruba family name in Nigeria, West Africa. Lola (left as spelt) is also a Yoruba name loosely translated "wealth bestowed". She is a stunning talented, albeit, underrated artist.
Loletha Elaine Falana better known by her stage name Lola Falana, is an American singer, dancer, model and actress. She was born on September 11, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey. On Friday September 11, 2020, she celebrated her 78th birthday. Lola Falana's father, an Afro-Cuban, left his homeland of Cuba to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps, later becoming a welder shortly after meeting Falana's mother who was African-American

She is indeed underrated. Back in her heyday she was on TV so much that she almost faded into the background. She was over-exposed to the point that it hurt her career a little, in my opinion.. But looking back, I see how superlative she was. There was really no one out there any better than her at singing and dancing--my gawd could she dance! And she was gorgeous to boot, with an incredible figure. Everybody had sort of a crush on her. And she was good on talk shows; what more could you ask for?
Lola Falana became a star Las Vegas attraction in the 1970's, which was a big deal. After Sammy Davis, there weren't many black acts headlining in Vegas back then.
WOW! This is so cool to watch. I love seeing choreographer and dancer Michael Peters. He must have choreographed this performance. He even reused some of those movements in MJ's videos. The first 6 eight counts were from "Beat It".😍
Thank you for sharing. I wanted to BE her when I grew up! That clip was really late in her career. My favorite was the introduction to a Bill Cosby variety show that was a summer replacement on CBS, way back in ‘72. See if you. can find it for me, okay? 💜✌🏽✨
Ms. Falana was ahead of her time!!! Remember Little Kim had a similar bra outfit and it was considered trashy. Ms Falana is wearing the same thing and it's done with class! Hats off to this sexy classy lady.
She was one of the most sexiest women ever in show business. I met her once in 1975 when in the Brown Derby before it was razed. I was traveling back home to North Carolina and stopped off in Hollywood to see the sites. I went into the BD and being a somewhat proficient amateur artist had my sketch pad with me. The bartender had sharpened my pencil for me and so I sketched a couple of black women who were some of the few people in there and were seated in a booth on the back wall without them noticing. Of course I recognized Ms. Falana from seeing her on the Tonight Show and on some variety shows. The bartender was impressed and without my knowledge informed her and the other fashionably attired attractive black woman with her who turned out to be her agent I believe. When they were leaving the two women came up to me at the bar having a drink and inquired after the sketch I had made of them. I showed it to them and when Ms. Falana asked if she could keep it and I naturally said yes she could and signed it. Just before she exited she asked had I seen her most recent two specials on tv and being honest I admitted I hadn't, which was quite embarrassing to do so. Hopefully she still has it among her memorabilia. She was one of the most attractive women I ever recall in show business and had a personality that gave the impression of total naivety and innocence, which of course was simply part of her routine I'm sure. I remember to being surprised by how tiny and short she was because she had such a great presence. I know later in life she has been saddled with Multiple Sclerosis which was a sad thing to discover. She was beautiful and I have never forgotten that fleeting encounter forty five years ago when I was a thriving young man age twenty six.

So Beautiful and Feminine. Beautiful Black👸🏾
Now I know who ACTUALLY started the grey hair looking badass trend. Lola, you're gorgeous and talented, and I wish you the best!!!
Now living a prayer's life.
Actually, Joan Crawford did when accepting an Academy Award for Best Actress for Anne Bancroft at the 1963 Oscars.
I'm 54 and I have loved this Diva since I was a child. She's so underrated. She deserves so much more. This is the real Queen 👑

Because she didn't do rock and roll. She did Broadway/ Las Vegasy cabaret, show tunes. She was like a black Ann Margaret- modern day josephine baker.
that's Michael Peters dancing with Lola!
And he did the choreography. You'll notice he used the same moves in Michael Jackson's "Beat it" video a couple of years later.

For some reason, I thought she passed away, but I just learned that she's chillin in Vegas. Wonderful. 😎
this very kind of las Vegas cabaret.

Yes. And some don't know that Peter's was the guy who wore white in the knife fight in "Beat it". He's wearing a pink shirt in this video.
It was Lester Wilson who choreographed it!
Super talented stunning lady. Loved her Made in Italy shows.
She KILLED in Italy!!!!!!!! yes!!!!!
This had to be 1973 / 74 cause MONEY was by the OJAYS and released in 1973

She was so smokin hot
You can tell Beyoncé was influenced by Lola a bit
Lionel Richie music theme “All night long,Lola has a highly talented vocalist voice very beautiful too music industry didn’t need to strip her naked on stage
Speaking as a 61yr old woman, if I had her figure, I would wear that outfit to the supermarket.
It's called Show Business
Maybe she didn't mind getting stripped! It's a popular move.
Mind Your Business
SUPER HOT CHICK ! WEDNESDAY 6/30/21 JUNE 30, 2021
Cher straight copied lmao
The dancers are fabolous.
I forget, as a kid how much I love her.
she's so over-the-top. perfect for vegas.
Lighting was annoying.
Preposterous
Alright 💯🔥
ONE
No one gonna mention Michael Peters and the Beat It choreography
I think This wS before Beat It !
This was Lester Wilson's choreography!
Happy Birthday 🧡
This was brilliant on every level! Lola, the dancers and that choreography!!!
The white male dancer in front is all stiff
I think it may have to do with his height, and this style of dance. I’ve seen him in other videos of hers and he was really good.
Happy. Birthday Lola, a day late. Love you always
A beautiful icon, so happy she is still with us today
This is alot of practice..excellent job big sis!
Judge Toler reminds me of Lola.
Wow! Just wow!
SHE BETTA WERK
