i would have used a Rotary table this way you just remove only a cylindrical area where the pellets were binding. This way the mag cover would still have its full thickness everywhere except the circle area milled on the rotary table. That said, great job, great thinking, problem solvers we need more problem solvers in this industry and this crazy world we are in LOL
Hi Mac, maybe you can do a soap block test between "stock" Polymags in the modified magazine vs. Polymag pellets with there ballistic tip barely sanded down with 80 grit sandpaper . So they fit in a unmodified magazine . Some of us don't have a drill press , etc. That way you can determine if that slight modification effects any of the ballistic and terminal properties of the Polymag.
Optimized process: instead of milling the whole cover, just shim the underside of the hinge portion to raise the lid, and mill just the outside of the hinge to fit the breach. This saves a *lot* of milling, time, and precision work. Bonus: this doesn't cloud up the cover so you can still see the rounds. 2nd bonus: it's possible to reverse the process and restore to factory configuration.
Unfortunately the factory screw gets in the way of this idea! You d have to countersink the screw first, and the material won’t like being that thin at a pivot... 👍
u godda love this guys dedication to this gun. i bought 5 guns watchin this guy i read somewhere that they are working on a new design for this blitz mag lets see how long it takes for them to pull this one off
casting mark is a Ejection pin for popping out the plastic part/s from the injection mold once the injection plastic is cooled enough, mold opens and the Eject pins / plate push forward and the plastic drops out of the mold unless you have a robotic arm or are having workers go in and grab the parts when the mold splits open. I am / was a plastic injection mold maker for 10 years before the industry contracted due to China, Mexico exodus occurred. I miss it , it was precision, unique, challenging.
Ok, not to make you feel bad. But you can use a hole saw of the right size to make a shallow tip groove in the gray side and save yourself a hell of a lot of time and energy. And if you do it right you can still use it for normal pellets too. And to smooth the groove, just fold a piece of fine grit sandpaper in half and then make it into a tube that can slide over the hole saw blade, and use it as a sanding hole saw. I'll be doing it to a few of mine as soon as they come in, and I'll try and make a video (if you haven't already ) P.S working on high capacity Drums too ✌💀❣
@@mattandrews8528 I'll do what I can. Right now thinking gravity feed, or screw drum. Either way should good. I also just saw something about a chain clip for PCP HPA guns. So hopefully the maker community gets on board soon, and starts sharing print models
@@mattandrews8528 I just got my blitz, and haven't even got to a range with it yet. But it came primed, and I was able to dry fire it right out of the box. Can't wait to go shooting, and start swaging my own slugs. Hope to have my first swag block milled soon.
I would like to see the magazine milled rather than the acrylic cover; a nice groove around the perimeter of the inside of the magazine. I like your milling setup for the drill press; would you mind sharing a link to the milling vise you use?
A rotary table and cutting a circle would be better. Also I've found that on plastic a "down spiral" end mill works better. They push the chips down which also pushes the plastic down so the end mill doesn't dig in and lift. If you want to do another, let me know and I can try cutting a circle around the outside.
@@DrSaminstine Not exactly enough detail to understand why it may not work. Can you elaborate on this? I don't have one of these so I'm not familiar with the mag. design.
The entire plate must be machined if you turn a groove the edge of the inside circle will bind and deform pellets as you slide to close. You need clearance on the whole face to slide over protruding skirts. The impact clip works with a groove only because it’s two separate pieces that don’t slide across a protrusion.
Much better alternative than having to modify a tin of pellets every time you want to go shoot. And I'm with you if it's not broke don't fix it.I wouldn't have the confidence in the pellets after they were modified.
My thought as well. And if the gray part is routers out in a channel just around where the pellets go that will let the clear part rest in full contact with the gray part thus there is no pressure on the pallets in the pocket.
NICE. I actually turned my AEA carbine into a bolt action, temporarily, so I could shoot Polymags out of it. They group great. I’m gonna have to see if I can modify my mag for them. I think I’d have just milled enough to fit the rounds to keep the gap minimized at the center. Great vid.
AWESOME ,NOE PUT IN THE NEXT LEVE ,,,, H&N HORNETS !!!! LOL MY NOVA FREEDOM LOVES THESE AND HORNETS , THE MARAUDER TYPE MAGS REQUIRE NO HCKING LOL ! GREAT JOB MY BROTHER !
You could have done the same thing with any kind of belt sander disk Sander as long as it was flat, and topped it off with 2000 grit fine sandpaper Then two minutes of rubbing it with rubbing compound and it would have been clear As it was from the factory when you had before Before you took it down, not foggy. You would have saved all the money without having to purchase a bit and Chuck it all up in the old drill press. I've been doing this for years and I'm sure thousands of other shooters out there have been doing it also.
Use a dang collet with any end mill!!!! If you use a drill chuck you have two problems, one, it can slip easy, 2 and this is a biggie! If the end mill catches enough load to spring it will destroy itself and fubar your drill chuck jaws so much that it will have a crap load of runout there after...please do use a drill chuck with a end mill!!!!
Had to ask dose the drill press work okay for milling is there any play. I had a harbor freight mini mill but it had a lot of side play but I was still able to finish my ar15 but returned the mill because of the side play. I was thinking about making a drill press mill instead for the price. Or if you no of a good mill under 1000$. Going to start to try building my own custom pcp air gun parts. Air gun parts are more money than real gun parts 😂 can someone explain way.👍👌✌️ Great work
Works great man..... the key is buy an ancient drill press cheap off craigslist. I bought a heavy, cast iron unit from the 70s on cl and it’s quality cannot be beat
Do you think something similar could be done to the standard mags for the hatsan flash/vectis in .22 or .25? i usually sand 1mm off the tips and they fit but its kinda tedious sanding every pellet, thats why i switched to hades which are pretty much as good but i still like the polymags ofcourse

This is exactly the way I would've gone. I settled on the nsa hp slugs bcux I figured the predator tips fitting the mag would be a thing.

Also, why couldn't you place a thin washer between the cartridge and the top to give it more space?
Made the pellets to certain precision specification, the magazine however...😂

You could just mill the area that needs milling, the path of the pellets. Maybe a couple of MM wider.
100%👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

As a machinist myself, I like the concept of modifying things like pellet guns. But, I do want to see you shoot those Polymags!
When you can figure out how to make a extended magazine for the blitz I'll be impressed. 16 shots just go way too fast.
Hatsan now has a 33 shot magazine!!! Totally cool!!!

You can clear the plastic up with some fine grade car buffing compound. The same stuff you use for headlight cleaning.
I realize I am quite randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Boston Kane I use flixportal. You can find it on google :)
@Ryan Esteban thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!

Or cut a groove in the gray side to accept the pointed end. Chuck it in the lathe and turn a groove in it.

Maybe just add a small washer between the lid and the mag and put the screw back in :)

You can make the "clear" plastic clear again by rubbing acetone(nail polish remover) over it with a cotton rag.
I hope you’re kidding
Excellent video bro . I used a dremel tool on the inside of the mag on the grey part .helps keep the dust out.
My thought as well. And if the gray part is routers out in a channel just around where the pellets go that will let the clear part rest in full contact with the gray part thus there is no pressure on the pallets in the pocket.

Predator should market a Polymag that has a factory shortened tip made for air guns with magazines. They would sell like hotcakes.
hell you can do this without milling, just get some sand paper and get to work. much cheaper if you don't have the milling equipment.
Awesome machine work you did

can you sell some of those modded magazines? I could use maybe 2 of them.
If you you buff and polish that magazine cover you could see through it more clearly ..like from the factory
Ok, ok...OK! I'm impressed. You did a great job. Just forget what I told you...lol. But for the rest of us, we gotta clip tips. Again 👍🏾 up!
You did it right, shave a bit at a time, because it is easy to shave more, but impossible to put it back.
Why not Mill the interior of the tray or space up the lid?
I'd do it on a lathe so it would have a lip to fully support the lid.

I think you would have solved that problem at the beginning just by unscrewing the screw a little bit...
Sounds like a guy w no mill. Just saying.
2sec of job with no any drill would be washer under the screw .
Then the mag may not fit the breech. Not advantageous to increase width to make space 👍
