Jessica Reyes. Yes the tiredness is the most difficult side effect of chemo. I tried to take one small walk around the block every day just to get outside… And I felt better for it even though I was tired. I found that the longer I laid in bed, the more depressed I felt. So I would force myself to get up, get a shower and get dressed. Make sure you are taking some good multivitamins, and B complex to help with energy. The menopause does suck, and I went through that as well. I use a natural Phytoestrogen cream from the natural grocery store. It has no hormones. And it helps with the hot flashes. As for the infusions, I had a Doctor Who made them a very slow drip so it took me about eight hours to complete one infusion. But it was well worth it because my body tolerated it better. Take good care of yourself during this time… I tried to get massages often and having that to look forward to helped. Lastly, avoid people who don’t make you feel better. There are trolls out there who just want all the gory details. Learn to avoid them and learn who you can really turn to, someone who will love and support you. All the best to you my friend
Phytoestrogen sounds like it imitates estrogen plant based, my oncologist warned me about this.

Thanks so much for this video, Dee. I was diagnosed with breast cancer July 2022 and have been in a fog not believing it because breast cancer doesn't run in my family. I've been nervous about taking radiation treatments believing that I would lose my hair ( I discovered later since it's just the breast receiving radiation, there won't be any hair loss --that was a relief!). Thank you again for your video; now I know what to expect.

I love that you so accurately explained radiation therapy, as a radiation therapist I appreciate that, my only correction for breast cancer specifically is that some patients do blister, peel, turn dark red. Your reaction is beautiful and looks wonderful though!

My skin got red, darken and sore after the 3rd week of radiation. The nipple and under arm area of my skin cracked. It looks like about to bleed. I couldn’t sleep at night when my clothes touch my skin it hurt so bad. I reported to my Dr and he prescribed me SSD 1% silver sulfadiazine cream which is for 2nd and 3rd degree burn. I now much better and continue my 4th week of radiation. Without this cream I couldn’t continue my treatment.
Has anyone here ever heard of Dr. Lederman in Manhattan, and if so is he any good? He's big on Radio surgery.

Mind are very fast. I am literally in and put with 15 minutes. 20 tops. The one side effect that I didn't expect was the skin dermatitis on my scalp within a week. I started feeling also tired within the first week and sore troat. God bless you and God help us heal

Jessica Reyes Hello...I am a cancer survivor who went through chemo. Mine was ovarian. I remember so well the day I had my head shaved. It was traumatic....I so understand how you feel. But when you are done with chemo, your hair should come in very nicely. I loved how thick and curly mine came in. You may feel alone , but there are a lot of us survivors out here! You can do this!

This video is so helpful I wished I had found it before I started this week simply because the first day was overwhelming w/a all the "laser beams" to line you up, the cameras, the machine..I got teared up not out of sadness out of nerves! So yes this helps. If you are starting rads I highly suggest this video and any preplanning meeting videos that talk about how they mark you up in prep for rads....It is sometimes helpful for some to see and know things ahead of time....

I had Invasive Lobular carcinoma and had my double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with exspanders. I just finished chemo 2 weeks ago and I start radiation in 2 weeks for 5 1/2 weeks. I have tried so hard to be as positive as I could be, at times it's hard but I feel like if you have an awesome group of doctors,nurses and support system that awill get you through the hardest parts!
Thank you for this video. Today i went for my 5th session of radiotherapy. The 3rd session was on a Friday , Saturday I couldn’t stop yawning I was feeling so tired. Sunday got up had some breakfast and stayed in bed all day. On my 4th session I went home around 4.30pm and straight to bed. I was told that because I had neo-adjuvant chemotherapy that’s why I am feeling tired at an early stage.

Found this video really good on understanding what happens. As my mum starts this on Monday she's got to have 2 sessions a week for 3 weeks then she then has to wait 9 weeks I think they said so they can do a test to see if it's worked or not then we will be giving a time line. As she can't have a operation to move her cancer as her body wouldn't be able to cope with it. She's got cancer in the top end of her stomach near her sarcophagus it's not in her lymph node. Just showed this to my mum so she knows what to expect when she goes.
I had 37 radiation treatments when I had breast cancer the 1st time (1993). I remember having to hold perfectly still when they were doing the simulation. It was shortly after my lumpectomies (both breasts - cancer only in left) and I remember my arms being so painful and when the simulation was over, my friend who came with me actually had to help me lower my arms and massage them. I was recently diagnosed a 2nd time and had a double mastectomy on February 10th. Now waiting for my oncologist appointment to see what the next step will be. I know that the left side cannot be radiated again, so I believe I will be looking at chemo. Your videos have been so educational and helpful to me.

I hope you are feeling well..you are so strong and you make it look so easy...but I know for sure that it is NOT easy! Life is better and clearer to me. I had a struggle getting used to neuropathy being a quilter. I learned to adapt and now I believe I am a better quilter than I ever was. How are you feeling?

Your hair is incredible! I hope that you are cancer free. I was just diagnosed with moderate differential invasive Cancer of the Left breast. I want to have a double mastectomy. A pathology report from 20yrs ago found ATIPICAL DUCTAL HYPERPLASIA in both breasts. Path report from a breast reduction. I've had normal mammograms. Then I become 65yrs, then happy birthday you have cancer.

This was so spot on in explaining what is happening. I’m towards the end of the treatments and my breast now has started to turn bright red. For a minute I thought I escaped the after math of radiation lol guess not.

I’m having a lumpectomy with a lift and reduction on the 15th. I’m stage one . I will do radiation after and will not know if I have to do chemo until after we get the pathology back. Thanks for sharing.
