As someone who's attempted to port SNES Bowser Castle 3 to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe before it got to the BCP, I have mad respect for your UV mapping dedication! I love your work!
watching him try to recreate the tri geometry made me feel pain because there's a blender feature called Tris to Quads that changes every selected tri into a quad without changing the object's shape
tbf, it's a "Pass". So something that goes between mountains. For anti-gravity/glider/underwater: In my opinion, these can add to a track in sections that were originally solved with workarounds, or were generally boring. Basically, it has to make sense. If something unique gets cut out, it's a bad implementation. But if a simple boost ramp gets replaced with a glider or a water track gets an underwater section, I don't really mind. For example the swinging net in Maple Treeway was unique, but ultimately it was just a filler section to spam the brand new trick mechanic a bit. I would count the glider in MK8 as an improvement.
Honestly sometimes antigrav can improve tracks, I’d look at Boo Lake, Dk Jungle and Piranha Plant Pipeline as examples (there’s definitely more but I remember this). For the case of dk pass I think the glider they added in mk7 makes a lot more sense then just a big booster jump, cause it’s the same thing but you have more stuff to do
I love how these projects end up becoming "remake the textures with other textures, then cry while messing with UV Maps for 30 hours." Just as Miyamoto intended. Seriously, insane amount of patience here to grind out the UV Mapping. That stuff is a pain to work with sometimes.

I would have preferred a Glider Ramp at the jumping part during the end of the track (I think it's like that in the MK7 remake even), but otherwise pretty impressive work!
I'm shocked by how needlessly high poly Tour is for a mobile game. Just putting real textures on to the geometry really fixes most of the problems I have with the Tour artstyle. It's a shame Nintendo didn't bother to do that in the DLC.
These couple of tracks you remade are awesome! If you got the in-game lighting down, I'd say that they honestly look better than a lot of the Booster Course Pack tracks
This makes me wish you’d try your hand at N64 Frappe Snowland. It’s a pretty basic course that was also in Tour. Could be super fun with some upgrades. Maybe add In some cabins and such on the sides to make it more lively? Definitely an interesting idea to say the least!
This looks super cool! 😮 Btw, when working with low poly models and wanting to subdivide them, I think first you need to link all of the vertices that share the same position, to avoid the problem you were running into. There should be a fairly simple method of doing this, though I use blender 1.79, so I'm not sure how it would be done in newer versions.

Yes, AND the mountains could have been kept, which, in order to make them base game-like, he could have just clicked right > shade smooth. Also he could have used Royal Raceway cliff textures on the cliffs
3:30 subdivision modifier would work, you just first had to go to edit mode, select all vertices and merge by distance when they are not connected, the SM gets broken like this
I remember the first time I made a MK8 track in roblox studio (yes, seriously) that I used the visual model as the collision and it had very janky results like the ramps shown in the video I did experiment by putting a plane mesh as the collision on top of the visual model and that ended up playing way better compared to getting flung in a different direction trying to do a trick
I’d like you to do Wuhu Island Loop eventually, it would be very beautiful to see Wuhu Island in HD and you can already use the battle map Wuhu Town for a base.
Daisy Hills would be cool to see you remodel. It's in Tour or if you want you can use the 7 model. I don't know anything about this but I would like Daisy Hills.
I'd love to see you do this with all the Tour tracks that didn't make the cut in the booster course pass, Like Luigi's Mansion, Mushroom Bridge and Wario Galleons
its good but like why don't you just use the realistic styled trees from mk8 instead of adding textures to the tour model trees the mk8 ones look so much better
One track you should try remaking Wario Coliseum. It's such a great track, and it's a shame it's stuck in Double Dash. Mushroom City is also another great track worth remaking
Mario Kart Tour could have looked much better than MK8 but the reason why they didn’t do that is because they wanted to keep the game running on as many phones as possible as well as keeping the file size low. Lighting wise it could have completely surpassed MK8 without making the game too much bigger in size
I would really love to see your take on Wario Colluseum from Double Dash. I feel like there's a few points in it where gliders or anti-grav would make sense and it's a track I NEVER see people talk about returning despite it being a fun gauntlet style track

Thanks for watching! I would recommend just modeling the track itself and making sure that's fun before adding too much. That's the advice I got from the tutorial that I mentioned in the video. It's a good tutorial series, I'd recommend watching some of it before you start your modeling.

But yeah that can be tough to learn, I would just recommend starting super basic and ignoring pretty much every feature that Blender has to offer until you need them. Learn features one by one and explore what you can do with them.
I totally disagree with you on the Zero Gravity/Glider/Underwater part. Lemme explain why. Those features are really perfect to transform a bland track into a more interesting track. I could definitely see an antigravity + underwater section on the zigzag turns just after the tunnel.
I think you should apologise to the Mario Kart Tour fan base. It’s a decent game and doesn’t deserve being put down for not being as high-quality as a console game.
Would recommend you mod your Wii U and your switch if you can for your switch yes it's difficult but it's worth it I mod it all mine until consoles except my switch it lets me do a lot of stuff like gay games in the not so legally obtained matter and play Homebrew games and emulators
