I'd say his sound, especially on LP and veteran, sounds super underground. Like literally. In a dank cave with stalactites and all that. He has an amazing reverb setting and has truly mastered mixing.
I love these producer/artist videos where you break down their beats and show us their techniques. Would definitely love to see a Knxwledge or Big Krit breakdown in the future.
they def are, if u know anything about music production you’d recognize a lot of things peggy uses across all his beats that make up his style, it’s not just random noise
Man, your videos are awesome specially in the showcases of your re-construction of the beats. You should make a video on Massive Attack's approach to production.
How are new Artists clearing samples tho? I never understood this? Every time I sample even YT knows I’m using copyrighted material, yet a lot of new artists just come out with a sampled beat and they all good 😅
When I heard the "when I made the sound for 'My Friend Pedro'" I was like WHAAAAAAT?! I immediately went to the internet and, wow. You truly are a godsend, a Robin Hood producer, giving us, the "poverty", the prod secrets from the rich. Really appreciate all your videos man 🙏🙏🙏
When you mentioned Camelcrusher funnily enough on 'I Might Vote For Donald Trump' the 808 is literally covered in Camelcrusher 'British Clean' preset Also sidenote the better version of CamelCrusher which is Camelphat is available for free

ALL CAPS NO SPACES is peggy paying homage to the artist BLACKIE (fka B L A C K I E ALL CAPS WITH SPACES), who directly inspired both the sonic vision and aesthetic of the Yeezus era.
I dont get how people listen to JPEG Mafia. I really tried getting into his music after hearing all the praise he got, but it just sounds horrible to my ears. Although I am still happy that other people seem to enjoy his music a lot
Takes time, at least it did for me. I listened to veteran and didn't actually enjoy it that much but the fresh originality in the production made me want to try veteran again. 2 months later I love majority of the songs, another month veteran in my top 20, 2 years later to current day I'm a fucking fanboy for all his shit lmao
damn, well I listened to LP! when it came out (and I also listened to the OG Version without the cut samples). Maybe in 2 Years I'll be able to appreciate it even more@@stwish3910
FYI the Kanye song you are attempting to use for the basis of your jpeg. comparison point isn’t really gonna be valid seeing that the track “on site” was solely produced by the production duo ‘Daft Punk’. But it’s a good song tho
see this is why i dont like ur videos on all these "rules" for stuff. i mean its all good but what your doing is basically teaching them to be bland and rip off other artists instead of making their own stuff. its fine if its a trap beat but you cant just rip jpegmafia off because its different. theres no other artists like him so you cant be biting him.
"Now at first it might be hard to hear what Kanye and JPEGMAFIA have in common" ... lost me. The Kanye in JPEG is quite loud and readily discernible. Like it is on Baby Keem.
Kanye is overrated in my opinion. He doesn't have a distinguished signature sound. On the other hand you have Timbaland, who in my opinion is the greatest producer of all time. Timbaland has had the greatest impact. I recall a point in time where everyone mimicked his drum patterns and tried sounding like him. Tim is the GOAT
Its insane how he learned producing by himself and does what he wants with his beats and vocals, thats artistic freedom
How do other people learn 2 produce? Im sure most of us are self taught
@@spliffsoldierid like to know too
@@spliffsoldier yeah thats true i have no idea what i was thinking
I respect how little he cares about 'fitting in' with his sound. He makes music his own way

really curious to see you do a video where you produce beats using the same sample but different producers' styles to simulate a direct comparison
implying that peggy’s beats are formulaic is WILD

they def are, if u know anything about music production you’d recognize a lot of things peggy uses across all his beats that make up his style, it’s not just random noise

You have good taste. Massive attack is dope!
experimental hiphop is the best, thankyou for the vid man
Thank you for watching young lord
Navie. You are a legend. A beat maker and a journalist. Salute.
you should look at some old devon hendryx stuff (jpegmafia’s first alias) it’s got really interesting retro production
