      Late as hell. But to be fair the character likely doesn't know how to use a whip, he is just swinging, not trying to get a proper crack, which is where the tip breaks sound barrier and that speed is what causes real damage, otherwise it's just smacking someone with a somewhat heavy rope.

    ONLY in Commiwood can a lone guy with a six shot revolver defeat 10 or more assailants armed with hi-cap semiautomatic rifles or hi-cap semiautomatic HGs and somehow not only while being shot at by multiple assailants from all directions not miss a single gunman puts every gunman down with a single shot and he himself not get a so much as a scratch let alone shot and never run out of ammo
    I enjoy a good action adventure as much as anyone but it seams every action adventure movie has gone John Wick in expecting a one guy gets in a firefight with 30 guys and not only wins but emerges with injuries no worse than a playground fight

    Can we discuss Tarantino's race issues, please? It's just...he seems to be holding two positions at the same time. Ok, he's from Tennessee so there's that, but he watched a lot of films (famously) and so I don't think it's fair to say he's racist because I don't think he is. Nonetheless, he really enjoys using racist terms and tropes. And so here's my tedious question: Tarantino uses the N word so often in his films, but I'd be horridly surprised to learn that he uses it IRL, but it's cool to perpetuate it?

    • @Bigrignohio
      @Bigrignohio 2 года назад +2

      Question, if he was a black film maker would you make this comment? If not perhaps the issue is not with HIM?

    • @rbarnett3200
      @rbarnett3200 2 года назад +1

      @@Bigrignohio Is that a serious question? Obviously if he was a black film maker then I wouldn't be making that comment. That's really the point of the comment. Tarantino is white and from the south. Those two things both have a problematic history with race. Hell, America still has a problematic situation in regard to race. It just seems like Tarantino uses the N word when there is no real reason to do so. Maybe people do talk like that in America but I've never encountered it when I've been there or with Americans here. I suppose you could justify its use in Django, given the subject matter, but it just seems gratuitous in the other films. I'm not for censorship or unfairly criticising people (its his work, and he stands by it, and fair play to him for that) but my best guess is that he uses it to be deliberately provocative which seems a little cheap and unnecessary given his obvious talent for writing. I don't have a problem with the word, per se, but it does need to be contextualised given its gravity to offend and its history. I mean, as an example: I had a friend who used it in the same way that black teenagers might with each other. She would say "What's up my n-g-r?" and used it ironically knowing that as white, middle class kids we couldn't get away with it. I doubt she'd ever dream of using it in the company of someone with even slightly different ethnicity as it would then stop being a punk joke and just become racially offensive. It wasn't that amusing when she did it. It's not really amusing when Tarantino does it. I'm not woke or any of that bollocks, I just think it's out of place and doesn't really need to be used.It just makes me stop mid-film and think: "Wait...why is Tarantino calling everyone n-g-r again?". Do you see what I mean? It takes me out of the film for no real pay off.

    • @trystanriddle8286
      @trystanriddle8286 2 года назад +1

      From everything I’ve seen he simply uses said word a lot, like quite a lot, but apparently it never comes across as derogatory and attacking to any of his co stars or friends, I don’t believe he is racist but keep in mind this is just from general curiosity and light research Into the subject I could be completely wrong but it is an interesting topic of conversation.

    • @rbarnett3200
      @rbarnett3200 2 года назад +1

      @@trystanriddle8286 I don't think I suggested he was or is racist, that really wasn't my point. He may or my not be, I suspect he isn't. I guess I just meant his over-use of it is slightly uncalled for. I'm trying to think of a British equivalent analogy...ok, so I call my friends "cunt" all the time full well knowing that this is an extremely offensive word. It's not meant offensively though. The point is though that in British/S.African/ New Zealand/Australian English the word has multiple meanings simultaneously, it doesn't have a history of cruelty though. N-G_R does. It's tied to a social, historic and moral injustice that still is perpetuated to this day, so yes, it's a loaded word. I recognise that QT uses it because he digs 70's blacksploitation films, but man, I don't think he needs too. I honestly think he just does it as a "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! I'm an Edgelord" bollocks, and he's a better writer than that
