I discovered Jim by accident and he's a real genius and and gives me chills all over my body when he let's talk his Guitar. Awesome, Roy would be pleased!
I never tire of this piece , in fact I think its most likely my most favourite guitar composition, No1, piping at the post Anthony Wilson's masterpiece "The Geranium ". Thank you, Jim, great work.
Goodness...this is amazing! This man has become my favorite living electric guitar player. I can't think of anyone whose style excites me more nowadays.
Roy and Phil Keagy both were masters of the pinky swell. I have seen them both live numerous times. Jim holds his own. I love how no matter what he does it becomes his own.
I can follow him to a point. Then it sounds like he's driving right off a cliff with the direction he's going...... Then, like magic, we are back on the road again, like nothing was ever even close to being dangerous.
Vol control in different positions than on Roy's but he sure got Roy's spirit along w unique sounds and bits of flamenco dancing with Western music (in my ears!).
Recently read an "opine" that Roy BUCHANAN'S guitar skills were just standard. So by evidence of this performance, his "standard" playing gets Roy recognized by a great player who certainly was standardly influenced by Roy B
it's an early 70s silverface Prinecton Reverb that he gigs with around town (including here). He owns several others however, including a blackface Princeton Reverb.
You get it and I get it; Roy was the man; the master of the Telecaster. I believe Roy had a gift and was a gift from God. Roy was like Jimi, his heart and soul went directly to the instrument. I think it is worthy to be inspired by others, but I will never be like any of these people, nor should I try to be; I am just who I am. Roy's playing was just gut-wrenching, full of melancholy and lament, intense beyond definition.
After years of perfecting his "volume" sweep" one day Jim hurt his hand and someone provide a Volume pedal for him to use that night. After the show Jim said OMG had I known about these I could have spent those countless hours perfecting something else.... .....just kidding folks! Humor is the best medicine "Reader's Digest"... for 50 consecutive years they have been saying that! It's good to have a laugh once in awhile. -Peter
Here's a funny story that just happened to me and it goes to show that it's a good idea to develop your own "volume sweeping" skills rather than depending on a volume pedal. I got a new Fender Jazzmaster and on about the 7th. day I inserted my volume pedal between it and my amp. The next day I thought my new Jazzmaster lead channel's volume pot had crapped out. After troubleshooting I realized my Chinese made volume pedal was somehow cutting the volume from vol setting of 8 and downward to vol setting no. 1. Even at vol no. 7 the guitar was almost innaduable. I removed that Behringer FCV100 volume pedal immediately once I was certain it caused the problem. Now my new Jazzmaster is behaving normally once again. Funny but it did nothing to the rhythm channel or my other guitars. The Jazzmaster does have a 1 Meg ohm resistor on the lead channel volume pot and the pedal did not play well with it.
Same ten licks over and over with no chops and no feel, just bs and boring as hell. If he was standing in front of Roy playing this sh#t he would piss his trousers after Roy got through playing.
"Oh, look, the emperor's wearing no clothes." I very, very much doubt that Roy Buchanan would have been impressed! FFS! Go and listen to Roy, or Danny... or any number of 'great' Tele players but not this!
Who peed in your cornflakes> Who knows what Roy would think. Danny and Roy both had their demons though both were great players. Never saw Roy but I did see Danny in a Club. Jim seems like a really nice well balanced guy and produces some nice stuff. I particularly like the Little Willies where Snora Jones actually shines.
@@peterthart531 Hahaha! Sorry....I forgot...we live in a world where people can post shite and nobody is entitled to a critical opinion! Excellent! Yeah...we might not know what Roy thinks..... But I know what I think!
Jim Always Makes Me Smile! Peace & Love! WooF!!🐶🐶

Tele craftsmanship at its very best. Just superb.

Roy's sound...tone..Jim is an amazing player... first person to come close to Roy's style...but this guy's got it
instaBlaster.
Definitely hes got Roys sounds hes great...
Jim Campilongo is one of the most creative improvisers on the planet!! Simply one of a kind playing.
Hearing a splash of Jeff Beck in there .
lesesquire and he plays guitar pretty good too...🙄
@@thomasprice1760 Love the muting! go man go!
Beautiful playing Roy would love it!
Jim is an old friend from High School......good job man!

Like how he takes chances, very much.
So impressed, I can't stop smiling at this man's playing! Fantastic
Very nice! Jim is fun to watch. He loves his tele that is for sure.
My new favourite guitarist
The Pure Artist....... This Cat is gifted........
'Blues For Roy'. Excellent, thanks for uploading
I keep coming back to watch this again & again. There is something utterly mesmerizing about this piece.
The guy is crazy. I like it.
Been playing guitar for 30 yrs... when I grow up I want to play like Jim Campilongo! In other words.. probably take a life time to play like he does..
So totally immersed in the art...truly beautiful.
out of this WORLD INTO ANOTHER DIMENSION AND TRAVELING PEACEOUT!
no peddles.. synthesizers..just innovative ingenuity............really AWESOME ......
What a tone.
Love listening to this, great piece.
Absolutely majestic!
Continually sounds like he'll crash and burn into a squealing mess. But he never does. Amazing player, and writer.
Jim, I like how you approach things. Good stuff.
Nang nang!! Love it! Puts a smile on my face every time!
Who needs words..beautiful :-)
Peter Green's Albatross ingluences, as well as Ray B . Super playing !! ❤😎❤😉❤😎❤😉
Magic!
As always, Great!
captivated by this performance
still love it!!
Jim should score Quentin Tarantino's next movie, seriously.
Why?
duh
duh what Rocco?
Rocco Astoria duh what Rocco?
he should
Great stuff. The most un-flashy flashy playing around.
OMG that’s awesome!
One of the best tele player!.
How'd he get Roy? Voicings, bends, and tone! The bends are miraculous!
WOW!
So good.
Me encanta!!
sick playing!
Gorgeous telecaster working. Roy Buchanan-like, intimate relationship with the tone of this guitar.
This is real. Dark and sinister. A lo-fi Tele movement. Angelo Badalamenti esque. I'm a hooked fan forever!
extremely good taste and original
A tele, a Princeton, and a badass 😆
So fucking amazing
Good, original music!
Total bad ass! Go Jim Go!

Wowers
Those are some heavenly "Tele Tones"
univibe23 just a vintage fender into a vintage princeton ... only about 10k lol ... oh and a cable :-)
Love this sooo much! Roy would be chuffed.
Yes Roy!!!
he's got all the tone RB had and that's saying something.
Vol control in different positions than on Roy's but he sure got Roy's spirit along w unique sounds and bits of flamenco dancing with Western music (in my ears!).
He's using the tone control to get those amazing swells.
I feel like i'm drunk in Nashville. Amazing

Real men play single coils.
Are you calling Duane Allman a kid?
And 9s
They are integral to his toan and technique
Takes a lighter touch to play 9s in tune but I love the spongey warm overtones that they deliver
That’s a weirdly specific thing to gatekeep.
@@hellatightdude person who made that comment clearly didn't have the gusto to conquer a les paul
They dondt care bout the buzz. So you need no keyboard player for background noise.
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! *****
He went a bit “guitar centre” at 2:01
APPLAUSE
AWESOME...as always. :-)
Woof!!
I like how Harrison Ford plays the guitar :v
'specially when he Solos ;)
Skreetch is good on bass too.
Rey Thomo “playing guitar ain’t like dusting crops boy...”
Massive tone from the Master here all on 9's for bigger strings vs tone nonsense its all in the hands.
Great video! Was he playing the Princeton 68 or the 65?
I'd image he plays with a vintage version, not the custom or reissue.
But that's just my imagination

Wonder what amp he is using here?? Sounds amazing!
Fender Princeton at 10.
@@MrOdissea1978 Princeton *Reverb*, quite a different amp. Jim uses a 70s silverface the most. Volume indeed at 10 as well as the bass.
Hey, could anyone tell me what the name of this piece is?? Cheers:)
Blues for Roy
That number cannot be played on anything else or less than telecaster
one piece ash body and piece maple neck sound together like heaven and hell at once
Tell that to Jeff Beck!
Just Imagine whats this Cats thinking to come up with these rhythms and Leads........... Happy Music
TWINK TWIFF TAD TURD BLUES.
what instrument is that? it sounds too cool!
It is a 59 Fender telecaster.
Ive tried to watch a handful of this guys videos, but i guess that i just dont get it. Ha
