Just bought the sprayer and found this the best way:
    1) Fill sprayer and spray first fence panel, watch how the uneven spray distribution makes a mess of your fence
    2) Attempt second fence until the sprayer clogs up
    3) Empty paint back into a bucket and bin the sprayer
    4) Use a brush

Totally agree with comments. Brought yesterday without reading comments. sprayer is rubbish with Ronseal One Coat, it's like mustard coming out of a squeeze bottle.... Reading reports online everyone says the same, comes out as one spout not a fine spray. You end up going over with a brush 😔 😔

Bought one of these to paint a summerhouse along with Ronseal fence life paint , watched the video showing the fine spray but as I was pouring the paint in the sprayer I was thinking I will be astonished if this comes out as a shown in the video and it doesn’t , it is too thick for the nozzle I ended up spraying it into a paint kettle and brushing it on . However when I cleaned it I filled it with water pumped it up and it worked perfectly so maybe the actual paint designed to be sprayed is thinner and passes through the nozzle as a spray .

I’ve just used this piece of kit today and although not 10/10 it did a decent job of covering my 8 fences. I did however need to go over a few parts with a brush but not that big a deal. I don’t think it’s that bad a product.

A long haired mini roller on a longer handle ( like the one for doing a wall behind a radiator) and a follow on brush plus a smaller pot ( a kettle I think?) rather than a huge can to ferry the stain to the fence seems to me best, quickest and least wasteful way to colour a fence.

Well where to start..... I can assure you it works nothing like that. It's like looking at a picture of a lovely juicy cheeseburger and when you get it it's like it's been flattened... This sprayer does not work like it does in this video. When you pour into the container it's not a easy as shown, get a large funnel and it might do the above. Pressure lasts about a minute so you are pumping more than you actually spray. The nozzle at the spray end needs cleaned literally every 5-10 minutes. The least little part of anything in the paint and the nozzle is blocked. It's better than a brush but only just... I would honestly give it 5/10.

No Ronseal products I've ever bought have done what they said on the tin, I assumed it must be my incompetence. Just bought this sprayer. Pros: It covers fast. Cons: It covers the floor and your clothes, It uses 3 litres to cover what 1 litre would cover with a brush, (see previous con about the floor!), the uneven spray pattern leaves the panel both dripping and uncovered at the same time, there is no difference whatsoever between setting 1 and setting 2. After doing one panel of my fence I gave up and used a brush meaning I'd wasted 2 hours masking up all the concrete posts. I will never buy another Ronseal product again.

    • @RS20O0
      @RS20O0 5 лет назад +2

Further to my above comment, we had heavy rain last night and the Ronseal Fence Life Paint that actually made it onto the fence through the sprayer, is no longer on the fence, but running down the new patio instead. Ronseal products are a complete joke.

Im gonna give a go with chemical sprayer for £5. In theory if there's riht presure it shouldn't clog. When i opened paint tin i saw that paint is jelly like, but after properly stirring it became nice liquid, but just for 20 min, but, ill give a go, nothing to lose anyway, just one thing: what would you thin the paint with? is it water based?

I have 60 metres of five feet high panelled fence, so this pressure sprayer was bought primarily to save about ten hours of arduous painting, as experienced in previous Winters.
Is it five times quicker (as claimed) than painting with a brush? Certainly at least 3 or 4 times faster, so let's not quibble with the mathematics.
Three issues - qualified with the strong likelihood that I may simply be a mediocre operator:
    1. Having stirred the paint beforehand, it didn't flow particularly well when poured into the receptacle, with air spluttering out like a mud geyser - and certainly didn't pour as fluently as the RUclips demo. It came out more like blancmange than a thin liquid. As a consequence there was small amount of spillage. A messy start.
    2. The pressure seemed to reduce after four or five minutes (or perhaps the spray nozzle was clogging up?) which caused the spray to change from a wide coverage (setting 2) to a narrow squirt (setting 1). Having put in the maximum capacity five litres of paint, I repeated the pump/pressure charging three or four times during a 25 minute painting operation to get the spray 'width' back to normal, which was a bit irritating.
    3. The clean up operation after usage needs to be thorough (clean ups are not normally my strong point I must admit,) otherwise the solidified paint left in the pump from the previous usage will affect the performance next time out. The spray nozzle and internal filter need careful soap and hot water cleaning - they recommend a toothbrush. The overall clean up took about 15 minutes.
Satisfaction rating? - probably 7 out of 10. If you have large amounts of fencing with hardly any shrubs etc. blocking your progress en route, I'd recommend it - because it does actually save time. Quality of finish? Not as good as a brush - even one used by an amateur.

Looking at all the comments from ignorant people, you should probably mention in your promotional video that the sprayers has to ONLY be used with the SPRAYABLE stains/paints. It seems as though many people just stick whatever stains they want in it without reading any of the instructions (no surprise) then wonder why it "clogs up" when they are using extremely thick stains full of wax meant to be used with a brush only.

This product does definitely not do what it says on the tin. The term 'precise' is very misleading, if you are stupid enough to buy one of these, then cover everything with a 5 feet radius up and make sure you are on good speaking terms with your neighbours as its definitely going to spray into your neighbours garden. I was really disappointed. I had previously thought Ronseal was a reliable, trust worthy and quality brand. This product proves otherwise. Was a waste of money, ended up going back to a paint brush.
