I hope that through this video, I am able to answer most of your questions around clothing sizing and how to develop a size chart. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask below. xx Kim Dave
Hello Kim. Thank you for this content. It was really helpful. However, I'd like to kindly ask if you could make a content that gives a bit more information as to how to determine the other body measurements such as the shoulder, backwidth, etc. when the bust, waist and hip measurements have been figured out to make patterns. Thank you 😊.
This was so helpful. I have a question though. If let’s say the ‘competitors’ you choose, some have ranges to their sizes. Eg. Small 34-35 (bust), 26-27 (waist) and 35-37 (hips). When finding the average and including a competitor like this one, which number from the range should I choose to calculate the ‘average’?
Good evening Kim your teaching about creating one's size chart is very helpful to me keep on teaching us about tailoring. I am calling from Gaborone Botswana
so true because i'm a Uk shoe size 8 but i'm a US shoe size 9.5 - 10 according to the style of shoes. clothing size has always been a problem for me, hence my interest in learning how to sew my own clothes which will be tailored to fit my body.
Hi Kim. This was such a helpful video thank you! But I'd like to ask how do you determine the vertical measurements especially when it comes to Drafting the patterns when using a size chart?
l enjoyed the Video,it had an important contents on creating your own size chart, knowing your competitors brands, making an average of their size charts .
Thanks for the explanation. I'm Stella from Nigeria. But how do I get my round body measurements, like the burst, waist and hip to correspond with the sizes?
Thanks so much you are the best 👌 please i want to buy a cutting pattern but i don't know how to get them in sizes and i leave in Europe, I'm planning to have my own fashion design, i have small experience of sewing please how can you help me? I don't know how i can be sewing in sizess and also have online store too
Hi Kim. Thanks for the video it has given me a good insight but my question now is how do I know where to put the measurements ie bust, waist and hip. I mean where should the half length be? Where should the bust be and also the hip? Some ladies’ bust point can be 9” from the shoulder or 10”. How do I mark them. Also the shoulder measurement for different sizes how do i determine it? I will be glad to get a reply
To make matters more confusing, European sizes come in short-regular-tall as well. 20, 40, and 80 are the same size in term of bust and hip measurement, but their spacing on the pattern is different, with 20 being for short women, 40 for regular / average height, and 80 for tall women.
Omg so true I mean it does make sense to have different length options when shopping tailored pants for women but the increased options can be confusing sometimes
Love this information it's really vital, Priscilla I asked u since last year if u can do a tutorial on a dress l really wanted to make because ur asked what we like to see invented send the pic of d dress on Facebook u saw it u reply, like ok and after hmmmmm O really like ur channel, tells everyone abt u, hope you reply and hope U do the tutorial on the dress pattern drafting and sewing in detail thanks
Thank you for this video ma....I can i measure a client in her absent....she sent me this to be her measurements.....Size 46...1m 71 tall....Thank you ma.
Yes you can! You can have a size chart for a style that is more form fitting and another for a looser fit. You can also have different height options too (petite, regular, tall)
Also, if one chooses to have a size chart in ranges (small: bust 35-36 in) rather than one numerical figure (small: bust 36 in) , when sewing, what measurement should one choose as the size for let’s say the bust (35-36 in) in a small when sewing the garment?
I believe the same technique I mentioned in this video should work, however the trouser style should be kept in mind when choosing the size charts to work with
If under size s, chest measurement is 32 1/4 and 35 1/2, what measurements are used to construct the garment ? Can you please help with this. Really confused as to what with measurement i should take inorder to construct a outfit of size s ?
Hi Kim, I have a question When you design rtw which size of block do you use to make your first stylized pattern? And then do you grade that particular size of pattern up/down to accomdate other sizes?
I hope that through this video, I am able to answer most of your questions around clothing sizing and how to develop a size chart.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask below.

Is it possible to have different size chart in one brand? Just wondered. Thank you.

I'm struggling to cut dress top I did cut bottom

Use the higher end of the range, i e , 36in.
Kim please can you make an example so i can be more clear
Thanks

If under size s, chest measurement is 32 1/4 and 35 1/2, what measurements are used to construct the garment ?
Can you please help with this. Really confused as to what with measurement i should take inorder to construct a outfit of size s ?
Hi Kim, I have a question
When you design rtw which size of block do you use to make your first stylized pattern?
And then do you grade that particular size of pattern up/down to accomdate other sizes?
I usually usually work from a U.K. size S or 8 to make my samples
video idea: infinity maxi dress.
oh yes to that. I have two holidays planned and that would be a fun spring/summer project
@@KimDave ooooo. i wanna try this style out for a special occasion happening later this year
