  • I used the H50 plastic welding gun over a year ago to repair my sons ATV fender. In this video I have the front plastics from my Suzuki King Quad and brought them home to my shop to repair a large crack.

    I ordered one last night to fix the small crack I put in my plastic drill press belt cover. I'm confident it's going to make the repair STRONGER than the surrounding area. Thanks for posting the demonstration.

    For the top side You can use a soldering tip to melt the crack together and to even it out find a spot where there is excess plastic for the same color and can melt and butter it in..then sand it smooth, did this on my Ninja plastics

      Yes 100% I actually have another one I reviewed that had a tip included for melting the plastic, it worked quite good 👍

    Another thing you can use to fuse plastics and holes in plastics is baking soda and super glue.
    Forms a super hard fused surface.

    Getting ready to order one. I encounter lots of broken atv plastics. Sure hope this is better than the aluminum backing and rivets because it takes a long time and really doesn’t look good

    • @Van_City

      Works way better than the aluminum backer and rivets. I have another video repairing my sons ATV fender that someone previously fixed with rivets that failed. It’s been good since I repaired it over a year ago now.

    I know plastics production for many years. Putting water in areas to be welded is not a good idea. It makes bond weaker. Better use blast of cold air.

    • @Van_City
      @Van_City  2 года назад

      Yeah if this was actually plastic welding I would agree. The water is to cool down the fastener and plastic so when it is removed from the gun it doesn’t pull the fastener with it.

    • @ThisTall
      @ThisTall 2 года назад

      Does rapid cooling harden the plastic like metal does?
      Making it brittle?

    • @Van_City
      @Van_City  2 года назад

      I don’t think this amount cooling is going to affect the plastic

    Going to order one right now. I wonder if this would help applying wire mesh patches in to plastics for welding?
    It’s a bit awkward and messy trying to push them in to plastic with a welding iron tip. But this may work both as a staple and an applicator for mesh patches.
    As long as they don’t get soft if heated to long?

    • @Van_City
      @Van_City  2 года назад

    Is this a temporary or permanent fix? Like if I was to fix a crack in a rear bumper with this will it hold, or will it just hold for now?

    • @Van_City
