You are right. He's singing baritone here. However, he's more frequently described as a bass. I'm not sure who could have held Maestro Pavarotti in full cry but it's a pretty good attempt. A baritone or bass will always struggle as a tenor's voice carries more easily. Given that, I don't think he was drowned out. Stellar performances by all six. Nice to discuss.
@@lindsayolh I will say that we baritones and basses have voices that carry just as well as tenors. This guy just didn’t have a large voice and was singing with one of the most resonant tenors of all time. Had it been Sherrill Milnes or Robert Merrill, it would have been a different story. 🙂
