Turbo Predator minibike walk around startup and ride

  • A follow up to my previous video with a walk around to show the turbo setup. The blacktop predator has taken the 6-7 peak psi quite well thus far and the bike is terrifying to ride. I asked a friend of mine to help with the video because the engine doesn’t idle well with the turbo. It seems that the single cylinder doesn’t fire enough to keep the compressor wheel from stalling at idle so constant Harley rider revs are required to keep it running. Thanks for watching

      Thanks! Its actually injured quite a few people. Fortunately nothing serious but its a handful. No one respects the throttle or expects the boost to hit so soon. I'm not great at recording what I'm working on but I guess I should make a follow up video. I'm working on a hydraulic brake setup to make it a bit less dangerous to ride and have been thinking about reworking the exhaust/charge pipes for ergonomic reasons.

      probably but I haven't messed with that aspect. I'm throwing a lot of fuel at it to keep it happy so I suspect there is still some power to be found. I can't say I want or need anymore unless I stretch the frame and move the rear tire back a bit. All it wants to do now is wheelie..

    Question on the oiler......These Turbo's, I just bought one I'm planning on putting on a Briggs vanguard v twin. Everyone I've seen using this cheap turbo is having oil control issues with them. I understand you don't have an oil pump on the predator but the Briggs does. When I tried questioning the manufacture off eBay I never got any response of course about oil flow and pressure requirements. I'm at a crossroads now..... Do I take the whole thing apart and custom make my own new tighter tolerance bushings for it, or put the bandaid on it by using a oil restrictor inline to the feed side. I'm guessing you may have some time on yours by now and it hasn't seized up or the impeller isn't grinding into the housing yet from lack of lube with a non pressure lube system. Just wanted your opinion on this turbo if possible. Thanks so very much, I have the same exact mini bike frame!!! Lol! It's all done up with a worked predator 212 naturally aspirated though is deadly enough! I can't believe we have the same bike and I put the same tank on mine as well off a bicycle kit lol! That's too funny and weird man! Shoot me your email address in a message back and I'll send pics of mine! Do you have any idea the manufacture of the chassis of these bikes BTW? Mine came from a school transportation class they were throwing out. Was like brand new minus the engine of course. But it's the same slanted engine plate with fork springs and big ass spoke wheels 10" I believe I put knobbys on that fit a Yamaha Pw50, they work awesome. I had to do away with the horrible rear scrub brake with the knobby tires though and want to a band brake welded the hub to the rear rim. Please if you happen to have any info on these chassis let me know. IDK if it is or not but mine has MANCO on the back of the seat, but I really couldn't find anything manco made that looks even close to ours!!??

    How did you get the draw through setup to work so well?

    • @Toadatx
      @Toadatx  Год назад +1

      Well a carb is a pretty simple way of adding fuel to a quantity of air. The mikuni came jetted close enough for the engine to start and run and from there it was just a few jet changes. The tricky part was setting something that resembled an idle as the compressor wheel wants to stall which will stall the engine. This gets better as the cartridge heats up and the bearing frees up a bit. It would probably all work better if I used a new turbo instead of this junkyard one.

      Definitely. The spool up sound is a bit odd due to the single cylinder but you can certainly hear it. Power wise, its very noticeable when it comes on boost. The predator is basically stock other than the turbo/carb and the bike will hang with by friends Z125

      @@WoodysPerformance101 I think so and it will be much better once I upgrade a few things on the motor. Mainly hardened cams so I can run stiffer valve springs.
