Do turbos really work on low displacement engines
It builds boost sorta odd with the single cylinder but it works. Makes ~ 7 lbs and its quite noticeable when it comes on boost. That said, its floating the valves and tricky to keep it idling. Here's another video with a walk around. ruclips.net/video/0lOJHUOjLag/видео.htmlsi=6vGrv3UojGY5BI3h
Congrats, didn't see the finish cones.
Man this makes my run look so slow! Great job.
probably less effective then stock
Great save there @00:17. Nice run!
That was a brutally fast run. CONGRATS
WTF is this? That is sick.
The "car" I'm driving is a D Prepared autocross car built from a 1990 Mazda Miata. 1700 lbs / 10" wide bias ply slicks / Rebello race motor / lots of fiddling. It's a hell of a lot of fun and can pull 2G's laterally on a good surface.
Who put all those damn cones in your way?
😀
Damn that mini bike is at some kinda high rpm. 5800 rpm and sounds like it's at 2500 rpm. Lol, but it didn't go very far very fast either. Like maybe 200 ft. Show us a video of that bike screaming on a long distance, not a 200 ft stretch lol
ruclips.net/video/0lOJHUOjLag/видео.html Here is a better video of the same bike
Tach is probably stuck. Since it doesn't change regardless of speed
What is the 'TURBO' aluminium boost carrier pipe from?
The "turbo" charge pipe was pulled from a Lombardi sawmill engine along with the turbo
Sell me that broken tachometer?
Nice shirt dude and nice build 👌
How did you get the draw through setup to work so well?
Well a carb is a pretty simple way of adding fuel to a quantity of air. The mikuni came jetted close enough for the engine to start and run and from there it was just a few jet changes. The tricky part was setting something that resembled an idle as the compressor wheel wants to stall which will stall the engine. This gets better as the cartridge heats up and the bearing frees up a bit. It would probably all work better if I used a new turbo instead of this junkyard one.
@@Toadatxyo if your looking to sell it I got $2500
I mean it’s alright
What is your power steering setup? Steering looks light and quick! Great run!
We have electric power steering from Super ATV. I depowered a "power" rack so it's still a quick ratio but we run a 1.6L engine for rules so the less drag we can have on the motor the better which is why we don't run the factory setup Power steering is way better than manual for this sport.
@@Toadatx i run a dp miata also, but underpreped for now. I run 245-45-15 rt660, oem non-ps rack and steering is too heavy. Hows the feel with an electric ps like yours? I’m lloking at buying the epower steering kit that uses a chevy motor. Thanks!
@@benoitvaillancourt3851 We ran the chevy equinox setup for a few years and when it failed we changed to the SuperATV unit. Both feel similar to the factory hydraulic power steering and any power steering you choose is going to be better than manual steering for autocross. I have no trouble "feeling" what the front tires are doing with this setup and always encourage people to run power steering if they are on the fence about it. Glad to hear about more D prepared cars being built. They are a ton of fun to drive.
Cool little project just because, but too scary!
What size turbo ?
Why show a turbo bike putting around and why not show your work? Just killing time
you might like this video better, same bike ruclips.net/video/0lOJHUOjLag/видео.html
Cool
Turbos don't do much on 212. Sound like it was sputtering wot
The boost is quite noticable. Sputtering in the video is due to valve float and I'm planning to install a higher flowing cam when I swap the springs.
........no jack shaft.
It doesn't really need one as the sprocket and motor line up fine. So far it has been pretty easy on clutches but I have been considering removing the wheelie bar and extending the rear frame to get the tire a bit further back.
No matter what this bike stays 5500 rpm Keeps it 55th st
The tach doesn't work but the boost gauge on top does.
@Toadatx oh so you just have that monster tach for show then? Lol, maybe I should put my monster tach on mine then to give it some class. Even tho I already have a tach on it but it's made for small engines. But mine also has an AMR300 supercharger with nitrous. Lol, I'm not done building it yet. Soon enough I'll make a video of it
@@markharris1473 this guy,soo many words,i made a joke buddy
Sounds like it wasn't even wide open
just flip'em the bird if they don't like it
Love it want it need it
Can u hear turbo spool or power diffrennce?
Definitely. The spool up sound is a bit odd due to the single cylinder but you can certainly hear it. Power wise, its very noticeable when it comes on boost. The predator is basically stock other than the turbo/carb and the bike will hang with by friends Z125
@@Toadatx so it’s actually worth it some what
@@WoodysPerformance101 I think so and it will be much better once I upgrade a few things on the motor. Mainly hardened cams so I can run stiffer valve springs. The boost is floating the valves currently so the stiffer springs will help. I'm also working on adding a manual boost controller because the wastegate is opening at 7 psi and I'd like to push it to 10 lbs.
Would like to see a walk around video of what your driving ? I have know idea what it is
I'll post one up at some point. Here is the car from 2019 nationals but we run a wing now instead of the spoiler. www.gotcone.com/photos/2019-scca-tirerack-solo-national-championships/dp/3g7a5838/
How many psi it make?
7 lbs but I think its on the wastegate and floating the valves at that point. Upgrades planned for the winter..
@@Toadatx dang, after you get it running good it is going to fly.
Do you have any videos of it going top speed?
I need to do one. I've had lots of requests but its sketchy as shit at the moment. I have a wheelie bar but I think I need to stretch the frame a bit. It wants to wheelie on boost and its not very predictable. I'll post up some progress video once I have it settled down enough to be "safe-ish" at speed on boost. I'm also floating the valves so I need to address that
Where do I get a turbo manifold!!!!
"Intro to welding" class at your local community college (or teach yourself by ruining lots of steel like I did). Seriously though its a custom piece I made to fit the parts I already had.
@@Toadatx see that’s what I figured that I’d have to weld my own I just thought to ask cause I’ve seen some that look almost mass produced so what I was thinking maybe you can confirm cause I use the 3 point flange I cut from a stock exhaust to mate with one of these baby turbski’s
@@randysanchez1397 yeah I traced the 3 bolt flange and cut/drilled one from 3/8" plate. The tube was from a mix bag of mandrel bends I bought from BMI karts
@@Toadatx good to know I had the right idea I wasn’t sure if it would match up
@@Toadatx hey bro I’d really appreciate if you checked out this clip I got yesterday of my buddy’s self made turbo super MOTO ruclips.net/user/shortstqHwvQcr8eY?feature=share
😄😄
I think I could take you with my stock 5hp Briggs Flatty with PZ20 carb 70 Ruttman Spyder.
I was thinking the same thing flatheads forever baby!!!
I've been working on it (new carb and a much better clutch) so I should probably post an update video. I'm not sure how it would stack up against more serious builds, this was more to see if I could get it to run and make useable boost and I certainly achieved that.
@@Toadatx it's badass!
My 212 stroker will smoke that hands down.
Mine too lol. But mine has an AMR300 supercharger with nitrous. Still in working progress yet. It'll be a bit before I make a video. But yeah it'll leave it stay put that's for sure lol
is it possible to make it spool or not enough power?
It spools and makes 7 lbs of boost. I think that it would make more with a boost controller and its sitting on the wastgate
Where did you get that Exhaust from
I made all the piping except for the "turbo" embossed charge pipe. That piece was salvaged from the donor motor. For the remainder of the hot side & cold side plumbing I bought pre bent 90 degree tubing sections and cut/welded as needed. I also made the downpipe flange from a piece of 1/4" plate I had lying around
@@Toadatx ok thanks
Top speed on this build i would love to know ???
Well, I can't say I've been brave enough to top it out to be honest. Perhaps I need to nut up and try..
@@Toadatx please do!!
Those bar mounts are 👌

Does the type of spark plug matter? In a car I know they require cold spark plugs
probably but I haven't messed with that aspect. I'm throwing a lot of fuel at it to keep it happy so I suspect there is still some power to be found. I can't say I want or need anymore unless I stretch the frame and move the rear tire back a bit. All it wants to do now is wheelie..
what turbo compressor is that? is it a 9~15 ho engine?
It’s a IHI RHB31
@@Toadatx so cool, im building a go kart n i got a 15 hp engine n in the future i would like to try set a turbo compressor on it. Im just studying the possibilities
Vasectomy in 3. 2. 1........
wow. nice bike
I see you have a Boost bottle... Lol those things don't work and reduce performance.
I don't have one of those, not sure what you are seeing..
@@Toadatx looks like a boost bottle up by your gauge on handle bars and you said here's the boost line... Lol was the boost gauge line watched in slow motion... My bad.
'I don't ride it everyday, ... or i would be dead' ohh man that was funny , great build btw . always coming back to this video just to check , building one myself :)
Thanks! Its actually injured quite a few people. Fortunately nothing serious but its a handful. No one respects the throttle or expects the boost to hit so soon. I'm not great at recording what I'm working on but I guess I should make a follow up video. I'm working on a hydraulic brake setup to make it a bit less dangerous to ride and have been thinking about reworking the exhaust/charge pipes for ergonomic reasons.
Hey mann this is my other account I got a video of my turbo ,feel free to check it ,peacee
instablaster
What did you have to do to the carb, add bigger main jet?
What program did you use to edit the footage?
Wondershare Filmora9
Flintstones brakes I see
It has a single rear "disk" brake but its not quite enough most of the time
Full japanese tech. Ha ha ha.
Your setup is really complicated but its cool you got it to work
Did you relocate the electric power steering unit or remove it?
We removed the GM setup and replaced it with a universal kit from Super ATV
Car looks like a lot of fun.
