Absolutely the best bike I have ever ridden, bought my 06 new and still have it. Pretty sure 08 was the last year for the 250, 06 was the last year of the high hp engine , as 07's and 08's were toned down a bit to appeal more to woods riders. Also pretty sure John Dowd"s is an 05 ( according to the guys at Rekluse clutches, the 05 auto clutch in his wasn't compatible with my 06, and he had the 05). I researched every clutch part number for both years and voila... my 06 runs an 05 auto clutch.
Just bought a 10hr 1 owner all original 2004 RM250, garage kept its whole life in mint condition. Like new. Did my research on these bikes after buying a 2001 rm250 3 weeks before finding this 04 and have seen a lot of positive feed back on these years so i had to purchase it.
Now that is one truly gorgeous and fast Suzuki RM. The first 2 stroke MX Bike so ever owned was a 1983 Suzuki RM 125 mint, that I had practically given to me for $800 in 1992..That RM was powerful and fast, being stock. I really learned what alot of power is, when I bought my new 1993 Yamaha YZ 250. The technology on it, was much more modern and better, being 10 years older, with 2xPower of the ,83 Suzuki 125, which was a big step up, that I got used to in about a month of riding or so. Will probably take me longer than that, with my GasGas MC 250 since I hadn't ridden a 250 in 27 to 29 years. Very long time. Gonna take my time getting used to the feel and performance of this new GasGas, before going Bonzai on it, because at the age of 49, almost 50, I can't afford to get hurt on it. I have too many responsibilities at 50 years old, being a homeowner, landlord, and the fact that my body doesn't heal as quickly. This RM 250 looks familiar to the one Manic Mechanic rode in a recent video, as well as what Ronnie rode, in a recent video, on your amazing family compound.
It’s Ah”chair”bees” . Say it right Dammit! Not only is that a favorite 90s T shirt of mine, it’s the correct way to say Acerbis! Probably who cares news, but it’s one of my memories of the 90s that I love!
Tried hunting down a good one of these for a few years but lost interest after finding alot of scrap. Yamaha tried to make their 250 more 4 stroke like, making them more torquey and smooth through out the power curve (not a bad thing by any means) where as Suzuki kept theirs aggressive and edgy, Suzuki always turned great that's their staple. Problem is these are hard to get bits for, second and third gear are very hard to find if you need them but great bikes for sure
God bless the mid 2000's Suzuki RM's. I always look for these and like the saying goes "their like finding hen's teeth". The people who have them know what they got and either keep them forever or sell them for top $. Absolutely beautiful. Some day I'll find one. I'd get this one but I wouldn't have my house to live in. Wife be mad as hell. It's really sad how Suzuki has just fallen off so badly with their dirt bikes today. Granted they are cheaper but you just don't get anything. No electric start. Power just not their compared to the other Japanese bikes. Just all around depressing when you see like a shootout video and either they have nothing to represent the Suzuki camp or they say "essentially it's the same bike as last year, and the year before that..." Pisses me off. End rants, sorry guys
For you guys who are ready to park your 4 stroke and start riding two strokes without any trade offs in power and hill climbing plow pulling torque for casual trail riding , cross country racing , motocross , beginner in the amateur class B C and D 30+ class and of course it's an excellent A class riders bike .. even a semi-pro rider would love to get his hands on of these on days at the St Louis international when the big four from Japan show up in their lab coats clipboards and stopwatches picking next year's team riders
If you got the bike, even in stock form, and push it up to the gate in the tilled loam, you already won. It's the chase, not the anticlimactic 150 dollar trophy that sits in a milk crate outside reminding that your better days are behind you.
