- Follow Us as Jim and Marilyn share with you their round Singapore island with bicycle experience.
This is our very first time to cycle around Singapore without any prior physical conditioning or practice. We started the ride from East Coast Park around 7:30am and arrived around 7:30pm. For the duration of about 12 hours, we covered a distance of about 150 km at a leisurely cycling pace.
We hope this video will inspire you to challenge yourself to go for a cycling trip around Singapore! Drag your loved ones or friends along! It would be a good way to see Singapore from another perspective we guarantee! And when you have unlocked this achievement, don't forget to share it with us too! :D
Stop points: maps.app.goo.g...
(You have to use the pedestrian mode on the navigation so it will not bring you to the express way.)

It's a good idea to cycle during a weekday. This is inspiring. I do like to challenge myself too. Thanks for sharing the route around the island! God bless you both!
Hi hi ^__^ Glad the video made you wants to challenge yourself ^__^
Remember to bring enough drinking water and get the seat cushion for the long ride.
You both deserve a VERY BIG WELL DONE. Thank you. 🤩🤩 Look forward to more of your adventures 👏👏
Thank you Edward ^_^
Both of our butt pain for 4 days! Make sure you get the seat cushion if you plan to have round island ride too :0
Thank you for the cycling tips. We gonna follow this slowly with my gf. Stay safe guys. More cycling videos pleeease
No mention ^_^ Try to go early as you can, and get your gf a good seat cushion and make sure you both stay hydrate.... It will be fun after the 21 Jun, you both can stop for a better meal.
Wow I wanted to do this too. This is a great motivational video.
Hi Jay,
have to do it when you have time and energy :p
Our butt pain for 4 days even we have extra seat cushion ^___^
I really suggest to start the trip at ECP, it's really more fun from the view.
Wow. So beautiful and visually stunning. I wish I could cycle round in Singapore Island
Its really a different experience, totally worth to have a round Singapore cycling route.
What an effort guys! Thanks for the video. As a new cyclist, I was wondering how to get from West Coast to ECP via PCN, and now after watching this I have a good idea now. Thanks again! Maybe try the round island route one day!
^_^ make sure you get a seat cushion when you have the round island ride, that is the most important thing:p
Jim, Marilyn, you guys are awesome (and fearless). 150km! It's great that you both are very careful cyclists. Safety first. Thanks for sharing the effect each isotonic drink had on you. Good information 😊
Hi Tim,
We really don't want to get injure during the challenge, we rather go slow then get send to the hospital :p
There are non gassy 100Plus version, try your best to get that one. And now I recall actually we should bring some bananas, that will give more energy during the ride.
Finally I succeeded! After 3 failed attempts earlier, today I managed to complete the RI journey of 129km. From AMK I went north to sembawang, admiralty and woodlands. Then west to kranji, lim chu kang and jln bahar. Boon lay and jln buroh, west coast road, to marina Bay, east coast parkway, coastal road round airport, Changi, pasir ris, then punggol and sengkang, and AMK.
Congratulation!!!!! Time for beer!!!!
Got any muscle ache now?
@@Follow_ussg thanks. My bum hurts but feeling high. Cheers
That was an amazing bike tour! I did similar but shorter version of your route, instead of turning to kranji and lck, I cut through old woodlands road, upper bukit timah and clementi road to wcp (Because i wasn't confident to ride on roadside) then continue the same route as yours. It was really refreshing, your video inspire me to try that again!
I was thinking to skip that but we wanted round island then we continue to Kranji and LCK, we found that is a bit dangerous so we skipped Tuas.
The trucks drivers are very nice but we feel bad to slow down their work from Kranji part.
You may try on weekend should have lesser trucks around Kranji.
Hi, may I ask how long the entire duration is including breaks?
Bravo! Takes lot of determination to complete the journey.
Thank you RJH ^__^
We hope many local residents can try the round island ride too~ Tiring but I'm sure can make it for first timer.
Dear Jim, I think you are really amazing because you could still talk non-stop after cycling such a long distance with the mask on...thanks for this video. I know where to go to for a nice cycling tour.
Thank you very much.
Trust me, wearing a mask on cycling is better than breath in a lot of dust :p
Especially I need to talk while riding 🤣
Fantastic video! And thanks for encouraging riding on PCN and pavements, instead of on the roads! Great job
Hi Shaun,
We both drive in Singapore, we totally understand the annoying feel when the cyclists ride middle of the road and slow down the traffic, worst is not safe to ride like grandfather road to the driver and the cyclists.
Have to remind to go slow and safe to those want to have round island ride ^_^
Thanks very much for sharing your 12 hour long cycling journey. Wow....I see that both of you are really tough and adventurous people. What a truly challenging task that you have completed successfully. Good job and keep it up young man and woman. Take good care and God bless both of you!
Thank you Cchong^_^
It really feel great after we completed the round Singapore island bike route, very tiring but the achievement is priceless.
Marilyn is very sporty! We dance together and we went to try Stand up paddle together, maybe we will try wind surfing next time.
Wonderful bike tour. You should feel exhausted but healthy now.
It's fun and very tiring~ I feel that I can go to have buffet after the ride.
Very interesting video. Really enjoyed the various sights, The narration makes it more interesting. Great effort guys.
Thank you very much ^_^
I'm planning a cross island ride soon, hopefully the weather will be fine next few weeks
Same aim one of these days, just recently got back to cycling. But best to have place to dine in too. Maybe next time can join you guys too!
Sounds good! 🤗
wow I never knew Singapore is so green ;) what a great city to explore on bikes ;)
Amazing right?? There are plenty share bike for you to explore the city too.
Jim and Marilyn this video is a long, long overdue cycling tour of that cycling jewel known as Singapore. This a a 10 out 10 expose of what Singapore has to offer for cycle touring and Jim you are one very lucky duck to have a lady such as Marilyn to accompanying you. She has a lovely peronality and a "can do it" atttude that would make such a tour so enjoyable to share with her. Once all this Covid crap is finished (if ever) you've inspired me to head to Singers to do just what you two have just done. I have a folding bike which wil fit into Singapores traffic well. I'm Aussie but live in Phnom Penh. Vegan and not into dope either, and would love to find a lady with Marilyn's attitutde to tour and camp with, Malaysia too . I want to check out those pristine camping sites you pointed out. Superb Singapore.
Ya~I'm very lucky to have her go try fun activities with me ^__^
I did cycling trip in Laos - Luang Prabang, it's cycling friend from the airport to the Kaungsi Waterfall.
Do drop us a msg when you need tips in Singapore, we are happy to share with you ^_^
I did 160km at night, started at 6pm from east coast park and finished next morning 9am
Oh wow!!!
That is another great option!!!
Is the Lim choo Kang safer to ride at night?
@@Follow_ussg I skipped LCK for safety reasons, I took Tuas lamp post - boon lay-choa chu Kang - woodlands. But it was about the same distance
Ya~ LCK is really not that safe!
I'm planning to make another round island soon, either SG round island or Jeju round island (^__^)
Congratulations to both of u, tat’s a really cool ride and great video. Very motivating and stay safe :)
Thank you Mervin ^__^
Hope this video will motivate you and your friend to have a round island ride too.
Well done! This is a good guide for beginners like me. I now know what to expect ! Thank you!
You are welcome ☺️
Make sure you check the weather before you go on the ride.
Tks for the sharing. One of the more commentative sharing I have came across! Good tips. Well Done!!

How long you took to complete the ride?
Enjoyed the video. Will do it someday, need to fimd the right buddy.
Glad you enjoy the video ^_^
Do let us know once you completed the ride 😊
very nice documentation! the ultimate goal route for a biker/cyclist! looking forward to do this before year ends...
Thank you Juan :)
I think you can try this month, year end might be monsoon season, will be a lot of rain, not fun and safe to ride on wet weather.

Thank you Louis, ^_^
It's very tiring and but pain for four days.
I would love to have buffet to celebrate the achievement but we rode during the phase 2 HA so we had light dinner at her place after the ride ^_^
@@Follow_ussg Well done for your achievement. Pls "jio" me for your next Island round trip. LOL
@@louiscastero6566 won't have round island so soon leh~ but planning coast to coast on 12Jul :)
Singapore is a tiny island, slightly smaller than New York. But you wouldn't think so if you attempted a round island bicycle ride. People who have done it say it is between 120-150km. The difference depends on the routes and how each one defines round island. I think the accurate distance is approximately 140km. So far I've made 3 attempts but failed each time. Thanks to the blazing sun and scorching heat. I never made it past the 100km mark. But I am a senior so I don't feel too bad. I will conquer it soon.
Ya, it looks small but have many traffic light stops and many junctions making the round island more challenging and taking longer time to complete.
It's very impressive you can ride so much at your age! Do let me know once you had completed the round island ride, I'll drink beer to celebrate on your behalf :p
@@Follow_ussg sure! I thought you would buy me a beer LOL

She is super active!!! Mother of two somemore!
Video recording very good, no shaking, explain indetails, Good couple!
Thank you very much ^_^
Marilyn is my friend 🤣
Nice inspiration! I think the part next to Changi can be made via park/pedestrian side. Do you know if there is an alternative way in NW to stay on pedestrian instead of next to trucks?
It's feel so good to complete the round island route.
I'm not sure about the NW pedestrian path but I think should have or you can make a detour to PCN path.
I just watched it on TV. Overall it was quite relax for me because there is a ceiling fan turning above me, ha ha but I know these period weather is so so hot, it wasn't easy for you both especially you both stick to the PCN and pedestrian path, and bicycle not those expensive type. I don't dare to cycle on road too. Hopefully our government quickly make a PCN for kranji to LCK soon. Salute to both of you. Good job 👍👍
Hahaha we think hot day is better than rainy day to have round island ride :p
We both also think safety is more important than speed, we hope all beginner cyclists stay safe as they can for themselves and the drivers.
I don't think there will be a PCN from Kranji to LCK, just ride on the off peak hour will do ^_^
You can try la, we both never have any training still can complete the ride.
Major respect for you guys!! simply amazing
Thank you Rommie,
It's very tiring but great achievement la~
Thumbs up! Well done guys as it is done on PCN and pavements. I have seen so many people cycling dangerously on the road
I know right??!
I am also a driver and I really think cyclist should keep on the left as they can, and also not in a big group to slow down the traffic.
Cool determination you guys are doing. Its really nice to do adventures like this.
Thank you Mike ^__^
Go try one day, the weather seem good for a round island ride now.
Loved the cycling community in SG. I must try RI route one day. So much fun.
Ya~ you should! It feel great to achieved the RI Route.
Make sure you get a very very good seat cushion, choose a dry season and start early ^_^
@@Follow_ussg Darn Covid, else I would have done it last year :) Is there like a Cycle RI route event annually or people just do it as and when?
@@ODOB you can do it anytime, day time or night time..
I'll suggest to pick a dry season and early morning for the comfort and safety.
Dear group leader, is this route completely out of the main roads?
Just watched on the big screen at home. So impressed. No way coyld I have ridden for 12 hours Jim. Poor Marilyn must have got sunburnt so much.
But i will definetly do ride trips in SG when I get there again.

I love this cycling video as we are also bikers but I dont have energy to bike all around singapore coz its so humid.. I can only cycle 30km max back and fort 😅.. I wish we can go around too without me complaining 😅. Singapore is really very nice lots of nice green parks.👍
Ya! Singapore is really humid to ride long distance~ like we said, it's important to have the right buddy to make this happen and mentally prepared then you can make it.
Singapore is very wonderful.
Small yet compact with loads to discover. 🤗
Wow a very big respect to both of u..!! How I wish to join cycle with u bro.. u really enjoy watching this.. great job!!💪🏽💪🏽

Honestly go alone is also not bad~ You can cycle in your own speed not to stress by your partner, recently is a bit too hot to go round island, maybe you can train a bit and go in June.
A great tour.. I look fed to doing it on my next visit.

Hello there, I'm a Malaysian Malay Muslim man age 34, from Johor Bahru Malaysia. I have ever been walking alone through the bicycle lane alongside from near the bedok jetty East coast park F1 right on the way via Tanah merah ferry terminal, Changi coast road up to the end of Changi beach.
Hi Aziz~
Aku juga anak Malaysia! Tapi dari Pulau Pinang :P
You walk very far!!!!! At least 4hours?
Thank you for the inspiring video. Most of the RTI circuit involve riding mainly on roads which discourage me from doing it. This is the 1st video where the RTI is on PCN and footpath. May I know what camera are you using to record the journey? Is it on all the time for 12 hours and how do you power it?
Good morning Steve~
It will be slower but totally worth it and safer, only Kranji to LCK is a bit dangerous but manageable.
I'm using GoPro Hero black 9 for this video, very good camera with the build-in stabiliser and support 5K video. You may purchase the camera from the link below, so far it's the cheapest in Shopee:

@@Follow_ussg Thank you for your recommendation. May I confirm if GoPro Hero Black 9 power can last 12 hours for your video recording? Otherwise, do you connect it to a power bank during the bike?
Oh ya,
Paiseh I missed out the question.
I on and off record the route, some of the place has got nothing much to see.
Overall it's enough for me to record 1.5hour footage with one charge during lunch break.
Magnificent 😁! I love to exercise outdoors as much as possible; of course stay hydrated! What hotel do you recommend walking distance to the path/park? 💪 My time for the visit would be between Christmas and New Year next year. This year I am going to Taiwan! I hope there are no bugs or mosquitos! Great views!

Kudos for emphasising on the importance of safety and cycling on PCNs and pavements. I've seen so many cyclists, including my friends, cycle so recklessly on the road. Even if they cycle with caution, who are we to say that the drivers will be alert at all times or skillful enough to 'siam' them. After watching the video and learning that most of this route can be completed on the PCNs and pavements, I feel more reassured and inspired to try it out myself. Thank you for this informative video!

Good job! Some tips:
1) Get yourself energy bars and consume them when you feel tired.

I used to travel a lot and now I found many treasures in Singapore to share with everyone.
Nice vid! what camera are you using? how do you mount the camera?
I'm using Gopro hero 9 Black, the build in stabiliser is very good, I don't even use gimbal for the video ^_^
I just mount on the handle, maybe you can see from the cover photo :P
You also may purchase the camera from the link below, so far it's the cheapest in Shopee:

Thank you ^_^

I have great buddy with me (^__^)
Will you give round island a try?
yah...hopefully can do it in 2021.
@@seowtw1309 make sure you cycle in the dry season :)
That is why I always skip kranji since I know although trucks already slow down, still not safe in a such narrow road
I think have to go by non peak hours or lunch time when most drivers are away.

Make sure u drag someone fun and fit ^___^
