I'm so *angry* with the man here in the US who had Covid symptoms, enough so he scheduled a test at his destination, but lied to the airlines, "no" he had no symptoms. He died on the flight. Thinking he'd had a heart attack people tried giving him CPR *and* mouth to mouth resuscitation.
Several days later autopsy reported he had died of Covid.
Now the airline and CDC are trying to find and warn all the passengers who had been on the plane with him.

To everyone in the comments, my whole immediate family has caught Covid, yet I was the only one taking vitamin d3 daily (1000 IU since March , 2000 IU since I noticed my Dad showed symptoms a week ago), and I'm the only one eating specifically to increase efficiency of my immune system (lots of garlic, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, greens, etc).
We are all showing strong symptoms such as high temp, lethargy and elevated heart rate, I even have ringing in my ears, but crucially, I am having NO lung issues, I'm not even coughing. I'm 5 days in to my symptoms, I've avoided painkillers and embraced the fever and already feeling considerably better than my family, who are coughing a lot. They are taking Vit D now for what it's worth and avoiding painkillers and staying warm.
Of course this isn't conclusive, but I'm confident that Dr. Campbells simple advice and evidence has helped me, and even if it hasn't it has made me feel like I'm in control of this thing and so far I'm recovering well.
Thank you so much Dr. Campbell, you are a legend.

it is everywhere right now, with the speed this thing is spreading. if it actually does increase reproduction rate by 0.4, it could be a big issue. right now most european countries have increase in cases and R value above 1, usually around 1.2, despite lockdowns. in my country we have the highest lockdown tier and we are still strugggling with R around 1.3. if this mutation shifts R to 1.7, it would result in a massive spread that is basically impossible to stop unless you lock people at home... january and february will tell, but i am afraid the worst is yet to come, and overwhelming of hospital system is very likely in eu, given how most people just resigned on protecting themselves, seeing it kills mostly old and sick and these old and sick also resigned and markets and public transport are full of them.... it is really hard to restrict myself as a young person who will overcome this illness easily, when old people are putting their heads into the monters mouth voluntarily...

I was sick for 2 and 1/2 weeks. I had to basically beg my employer to let me stay home from work. I ended up getting 4 different covid tests because the first one I did myself and was scared I did it wrong. The 2nd one was supposed to be rapid but found out afterwards it wasn’t. The 3rd and 4th were done at an urgent care because I needed a doctors note for work and they gave me a rapid test which came back negative so they did another one to sent off to the lab. All 4 came back negative. What’s weird is I had an abnormal headache for about 4 days before I got really sick. Two of my coworkers had the same headache followed by the same symptoms. I was extremely fatigued, my throat felt fuzzy and slightly sore, my head would pound off and on, I didn’t have a high fever, my O2 levels dropped to 95, my whole body ached, I had a cough (still do), my chest felt heavy and I had chest pains, I also had stomach pain along with nausea. I don’t know if I just had the flu but I know I’ve never felt the way I did. My brain was foggy and I slightly lost my taste and smell abilities. I work at a membership store that supplies bulk items and I’m surrounded by people who aren’t taking precautions! I fear for my health everyday I go into work! I know I had something and my doctor found it hard to believe that I didn’t have Covid but like I said, all 4 tests came back negative. I had to return to work after a week because my doctors note ran out and my tests were negative. I feel better but I get fatigued easily, still have a cough and still have nausea. In a week I’m going to go get the anti body test when I have a day off. I’m hoping that test will tell me more.

A minor niggle with an otherwise excellent video regarding the efficacy of the vaccines in the face of the new mutations. When it comes to humoral immunity (B cell immunity), the natural response against the virus involves antibodies to multiple proteins, including for example N and S. As N, the viral nucleoprotein, is inside the virus, antibodies against N are useful for diagnosis but not in the battle against viral infection. Antibodies against S (spike) are able to inhibit viral entry into cells, and this is why most vaccines focus on generating antibodies towards the S antigen. However, not all antibodies against S are equally useful. Neutralising antibodies, the ones that block binding of S to its entry receptor ACE2, are almost invariably directed against a small portion of S called RBD (receptor binding domain). As some of the new mutations (including N501Y) are in this RBD domain, we need to know whether the antibodies generated by the vaccines (based on the Wuhan strain) are still able to block infection by the new variants. Given the diversity of the antibody response towards RBD, this is likely to be the case, according to for example Ugur Sahin (BioNtech). Moderna and BioNtech are currently testing this in their laboratories, by taking sera from vaccinated individuals and examining their ability to neutralize infection by the viral variants. The results of these experiments should become clear within the next week.
Aside from its role in supporting humoral immunity, the relative importance of cellular immunity (T cell immunity) induced by vaccines in clearing the virus is still debated. This is an important issue, as useful cellular immunity - in contrast with humoral immunity - can in principle be directed against any of the viral proteins. Furthermore, T cells killing off infected cells may be seen as a second line of defense. If a virus somehow does manage to infect a cell despite the presence of neutralising antibodies, elimination of the infected cell by what we call 'killer T cells' will abrogate viral replication within that cell.
In short, the reasoning that because 99% of the virus is unchanged in the new variants, the current vaccines will still be effective, is flawed. We will need to await the scientific data to substantiate this notion. Fortunately, these data should arrive soon, and they will most likely be reassuring.

I do watch your broadcasts regularly, but need to point out that there is a difference in a strain and a variant. The mutation in the UK is only a variant and not a totally new virus, which a strain will be. The idea that it spread faster is not proven, and only an epidemiological observation, as is the socalled 71% faster chance. The importance of the mutation is that it happened- so watch if any change in pathogenisis occur, which we do not think will happen. The basic rules behind Cambells' back on the board is all that need to be done.

She says she'll probably not take the vaccine and simply have to wait for herd immunity to spread. I'm sure there are many other such situations.

      @LestWeForget-LestWeForget 3 года назад

@@robklein583 Not that obvious, so that is why I asked the question. Not all vaccines can be 'put in the same box' so to speak - depends on how they are cultured. As an example, many years ago, one of my children developed multiple allergies as a baby. The hospital consultant said at the time her measles vaccine was due, she was NOT to have it as 'it was grown in egg'. She was allowed the other vaccines. I too have allergies and am on year round antihistamines and two types of inhalers. Not heard about the ones with allergies to shellfish and can't see why that would be unless that is part of the make-up of the vaccine. I can see why the friend of Gary's would be advised not to take it, but that would be nothing to do with allergies. When I heard the news report, they did not give any further details, so hoping Dr. Campbell can throw some light on it.

Ask if they've isolated it. You'll never get an answer because they haven't. Canada and Ireland had to admit after FOIA requests that they had no isolation of the virus. Nuts!

There are 3.4million 80yrs and over plus a few hundred thousand NHS and care workers to cover. We'll need the Oxford/AZ vaccine to boost the rate of progress. We have a 93 and a 97yr old to protect and not a peep for either yet...

There is very good ventilation in all hospitals. You just don't see it. All air from rooms is sucked into a very advanced filter system and then goes through a very powerful UV chamber that kills any bacteria or virus that made it through the filter system. Then through the furnace system to be heated (or cooled in summer) then back to the rooms as clean sanitized air. I wish all box stores would have a similar system ordered by building code. I had a similar system installed in my pharmacy, but obviously a much smaller system.

@@robklein583 2nd comment of yours I've read and I believe you may be one of the few people with common sense. I was shocked UV filtration and negative pressure for shared indoor spaces is not normal. In my opinion that is something they should have been rushing to implement and ensure it's definitely in place for potential future airborne virus spread.

Thanks, Doc! Good to see you back on the channel safe and sound. Hope your Christmas day was nice. We had a zoom family Christmas and are grateful we were together, even if it had to be online. Thus, it was a good day! Togetherness is togethernes, regardless the form. Enjoy the rest of the holiday season, Doc, and everyone. Virtual hugs for all who need one.

Lol...will will never know. They are not 100% sure where it came from in the first place. If you look at the first wave there were 134 patient Zeros in the UK. All had links to Italy and were all symptomatic. If you add asymptomatic cases that were not diagnosed then it becomes impossible.
