Brief summary: Marie recovered from ME/CFS by doing Mickel therapy, which included setting boundaries (which she had never done before), learning to listen to her own emotions, letting go of perfectionism, and yes, truly believing that she could get better. Great job!

I’ve read the book she mentioned. All the stories are different and like most stories the pathway to recovery is often vague as it’s never really just one thing. There was ONE thing that was pretty constant in all the stories however. And that was that every one of them mentioned how they believed they would get better. Belief in recovery is so fundamental.

As soon as I heard Miguel the first time, first time I realized others knew if CFS miraculously stopped symptoms. After 30 years of some form of this, this past year was the worst. Something in my brain must have snapped because so far, knock wood, nothing. Feel great. Idk why! But if I start getting symptoms now, I rest a bit, but gorge thru and they're gone. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop but so far, so good

Have you read any of Dr John Sarno's books? He started with back pain so many people think it does not apply to them but he later realized it was most chronic conditions to include chronic pain (that is not caused by disease). Dr Sarno goes into repressed emotions by people with a certain personality type. This type of person is a people please, a goodest he called us. You will probably see yourself in every page; I did. Another good book is The Great Pain Deception by Steve Ozanich; he was in chronic pain for 30 years, same personality type and healed himself using Dr Sarno's work.

My doctor forced me to take anxiety pills. I kept saying that my thyroid was off. It is walking for many months without treatment that lead to cfs. I took the anxiety pills for a week. And then i came by and stopped immediatly becausd of the side effects. I spiraled so fast. It left me with chronic dizzines, depersonalisation and ringing in the ears. I suit him.

Argh this one was soooo interesting for me!! This is exactly what happened at the beginning of mine, I kept having panic attacks out of nowhere for seemingly no reason, no mental health stuff preceding it, I could not understand what was going on at all. Then all this weird stuff with 'over breathing' (hyperventilating but slowly over a longer period of time leaves you feeling like you're going to feint, and all weird and then can end up triggering a panic attack from that point). I continued getting the odd panic attack through the beginning stages of my illness - even woke up a dew times in the middle of the night literally having one being triggered whilst I was asleep. Totally insane. VERY interesting to hear this being talked about as someone else's experience. Fascinating

I can relate so much to Marie’s experience with doctors when I used to visit them and the 50 recovery stories book gave me some hope and inspiration in the early days …everything from lightening process, eft, very light incremental exercise, diet as you may expect. I even had a phone session with the author Alex Barton. Her recovery she attributed to a more protein based diet I seem to remember…..she analysed my food and drink for a week and advised more protein. And yes I tried a Mickel Therapy session to see what it was all about.

Stress - including the stress of being ill - wipes out the body’s ‘stress-management’ nutrients, like B vitamins & Magnesium. As many of us are already deplete due to the highly refined & processed, nutrient-stripped modern diet placing far higher demands on the body for these nutrients than it supplies, one stressful episode whether acute or chronic, whatever it might be, can drain what’s left, plunging us into abject deficiency-land. Some people may be deplete for years with ongoing stress.
As all the B vitamins, but especially B1 (Thiamine) & B12 are hugely involved in Nervous System function (which of course controls breathing), energy (ATP) production & digestive function, any depletion can have severe impacts on the body. It’s no coincidence that so many of the CV & long-haul issues are Nervous System-related, like the breathing issues/air hunger, neuropathy, walking/gait issues, heart & CVS issues, Anosmia, sensitive skin, etc, etc, etc. Anxiety & panic attacks, too. If low enough, cognitive issues, memory loss, even paranoia & dementia.
Before CV even struck, one of my issues with B12 deficiency was breathing issues, air hunger, like my Autonomic Nervous System had ‘forgotten’ how to breathe automatically. It was very scary until I figured out what the issue was & bought fast-acting sublingual liquid B12 drops with both active forms, which dealt with it promptly. And Thiamine & a good decent dosage B-complex to address my digestive & neuropathy & other nerve-related issues (burning feet is early neuropathy symptom - the myelin sheath around the nerves is beginning to break down & is affecting nerve function). I reversed it all with diet & the supplements - gluten free, refined sugar-free, virtually all dairy-free & refined oil free, just natural unprocessed food.
Antibiotics may potentially make things worse because they destroy so much of the gut biome, including the B vitamin metabolising & generating microbes in the gut & mess with our ability to absorb &/or utilise B vitamins from our food or digested supplements.
People can recover eventually, especially if they are eating a good, natural unprocessed diet & are taking decent supplements to make up the shortfall. But it takes work & dedication to do so.

Today is a day where I’m letting myself feel down and just cry about several setbacks and two relapses in a short time (unexpected things in life happen!)
