Jimmy Webb is a musical genius. Songwriters are the greatest artists, IMO.

Thanks so much for this interview, heck of a job. For those folks who really would like a change to have a "meet and greet" with Jimmy, he probably still does them after his shows. I've attended numerous shows over the past 30 some odd years and he's truly a marvelous, gracious human being to chat with, and very humble. His songs will live until the end of the ages, God Bless you Jimmy Webb!!:-)

Talent is common. Genius is uncommon. Jimmy Webb is a genius. And he came around at the right time. I didn't know the Association turned down MacArthur Park. Idiots. The song would've been a hit for them and they would've saved us from Richard Harris. Or Glen Campbell, who sang it well and played a mind-boggling guitar solo, would've had the original hit version.

This was right after the September 25th Concert in Atlanta at The City Winery,
This is a great interview for songwriters. I really learn a lot each time I watch the interview just because he talks about songwriting.
I just have to comment about the paying of musicians as little as possible: we live in a world where science not art is rewarded and musicians go unnoticed. This is because most people, if you want to call them technical people or mechanical types really do not understand music and that machines really cannot produce music because music comes from the soul and humans must do that: write, produce, perform.

I agree todays music is very chant oriented. Even in church today the old hymns were lyrics the new church music is chant.
